I just got into polymer clay as a former sculpter by schooling and trade getting back into my art practice. I saw these clay flower canes and thought they were a great way to make multiples of 3-D flowers so fast! I assumed that was what they were used for, slice off a flower, do a little shaping and sculpting of the petals and dome off the center and POW! A bouquet of the same flower in some different sizes! I had no idea that they were meant to be thinly sliced and stuck flat to things.... I guess it was my sculpt-y brain.
This is just .....gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. You've inspired me so much to do this. I've been practicing simple caning with a small pastel color starter set until I got the rhythm of it down. Now I'm off to get a real tool set to do this, and some deep greens, purples, and black. Thank you very much, Ms. Pandora !!
Teresa, Espectacular!, Gracias por compartir tu conocimiento práctico y tu arte. / Teresa, Spectacular! Thanks for sharing your practical knowledge and your art.
Your extra pieces do you put them in the refrigerator to keep ot from drying out?? Ilive where its really warm or hot. So i just dont want to have them get ruined if i dont use it often
Than you for the wonderful beautiful items you make. Here is my question, you encourage making caning in advance, How long will they stay on the shelf? How do I store it? Also, will air dry clay be backed without any cracking? You can tell I am new. Thank you..
I have used the soda can, but find most people can't wear the bracelets because they are too large. I can because I have rather large hands (although difficult to get on sometimes). What is the general sizing for a bracelet. Really getting tired of making lace up cuff bracelets to make sure they fit everyone.
Hi, Lena. You can get really nice, inexpensive cuff blanks from the Etsy shop called Beadwork-supplies.com. (712) 256-3207 They are light and flexible and can be adjusted to fit. Standard size inside bangle is 8 1/4 inches.
I love your bracelets. I have a question. You first made a basic bracelet and baked jn the oven, Then you used it as a base and put pieces of canes on it and baked it again? Please let me know?
I really enjoy your videos and as a rookie, I have learned SO much from you!!! Pandora, how do you keep the canes you have left over?? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.
Thank you so much for your helpful and informative videos. I am grateful for the knowledge. Could you please do some videos on making flower petal canes and how to make sea creatures, i.e. starfish, seahorse, fish etc. for jewelry. I lost my job and am trying to survive with making my own jewelry. I really love the way you explain, (I always get it). Thank You Again.
Thank you all for your kind words. Here are some answers to your questions: e-6000 is not for use in the oven, so you do need Bake n Bond or other PVA glue. The sticks are from my boyfriend but if you try a lumber place they might cut some for you.
Can you please make a tutorial video of the braclet that you are wearing also one showing how to an acrylic gold paint band to finish the edges or the inside? Thank you so much for all of your help.
I saw you here with soda can, would there be a problem using glass jars left over from something .I know generally the wrists for women run 6-8 1/2 .So I was thinking if the jar wasn't more than 8 1/2 it should be ok but I have seen a lot of tutorials and never saw even one jar. Is there a reason for this ? I mean surely you have tried this .Want to say that you are so patient and soft spoken, and Thank you love your Talent.
Im about ready to give up. I have made some nice looking bracelets but I still cant get them ogg without breaking them. Maybe Im baking them to long? I have no idea. I love polymer clay and want to master this somehow. Sorry to bother you again
Fonda here's an idea. Superglue the base if it breaks. Be sure to place the seam in your design strip NOT close to the seam on the base. Most importantly-Don't bake you finished bracelet on the can. Just lay it in a bed of baking soda, to bake, ok? No way is that going to break if you're using Premo clay. Let me know how that works out, honey.
Made my very first real project today ... a bracelet, using a Diet C can for support and baking. The bracelet turned out beautiful. Well, beautiful on the can, but broke into 3 pieces when I tried to remove it, even though the clay foundation wasn't real thin, but on the thickets setting. I super glued it together just to see how it could have looked. It was too small and wouldn't go over my hand. I had pre-meaured, but it just wouldn't fit. Bummer. Wonder what I did wrong??
Oh, no! Was the piece completely cooled? Did you use Premo (not Sculpey II)? I have two layers on the thickest setting, one under the design sheet (the top sheet with design). If all else fails, cool completely and crumple the can to get it off. I'm sorry that happened. :-(
I crumpled the can. It wouldn't fit over my hand and then broke. It looked good, though, so at least that softens the disappointment. :) I probably used the Sculpey III, as I made it before I separated my clay, putting the Primo in a separate drawered organizer. I need to use up the Sculpey III, but have to figure out what to use it for ... I have quite a bit, as I received a lot of clay for Christmas and about half was the S III.Teresa Pandora Salgado
I've had this happen to me before. My poly was a little to sticky, warm and worked with. ( i live in tx, usually the temp outside is hot! Temp can affect clay.) Dusting the can with corn starch helps! Not alot is needed. You can lightly dust area with some paper towels . Happy crafting!
Thank you, Elizabeth White. Having better luck now, since I started dusting or using parchment paper taped to the can. I'm in TN and it gets hot and humid here, too. Nasty summers for sure and having no AC makes it really nasty. But ... I just try to work around it all. :)
I make them in varying thicknesses "in real life". The reason I show them with 3 layers is that some people use Sculpey III which is very brittle. Then their bracelet breaks when they take it off the mold and they're disappointed. You can get by with two layers of clay or one lsyer with cane over it if you're using Premo or Souffle.
Hello - I just found your videos and I was so excited to make the bracelet. Unfortunately, the soda can did not work for me. Maybe I have big hands but the resulting bracelet was too small to fit over my hand. Also, the bracelet broke before I could get it off the can. I watched the video several times and followed the directions exactly. So disappointing!
Thank you, Rosebud. My Complex Caning Made Easy vid has a pretty detailed flower cane. You might like that one. I'm doing a Little People vid next-maybe Sea creatures after that, ok? Best of luck and email me any time. Pandora
I have a problem with my bracelets. when I put the first layer on the can and bake it I cant get it off without breaking it. Can you advise advise me of what I could be doing wrong. Its quite frustrating. Again thank you
i m just in awe of your giving and mothering nature to the claying community . thank you for you teachings

Teresa I love the bracelet you are wearing in this presentation. It looks very interesting :)

I never thought to use a coke can to make my bracelets. Can't wait to play.
Just be careful taking them off the can. Cool them first, ok?

Wow! The people you know must have really small hands. The soda can fits everyone I know. Who is of average size and it's too small for bigger women.
I love your bracelets. I have a question. You first made a basic bracelet and baked jn the oven, Then you used it as a base and put pieces of canes on it and baked it again? Please let me know?
by any chance, did you ever make a signature cane video? I looked but didn't see one in your video list?
I really enjoy your videos and as a rookie, I have learned SO much from you!!! Pandora, how do you keep the canes you have left over?? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.
NG B Thank you! I keep the canes in plastic drawers. You can get them at Walmart.
I love the bracelet you're wearing ;-)
I made a mold of it. Want one?
+Teresa Pandora Salgado Really?? I'd LOVE one... How much?
+The Bohemian Romantic (gypsy192) email me at busypandora@gmail.com and I will find it for you.
Are these type of Bangles flexible? So when you try to put them on your wrist they're a little stretchy?
Only if they’re pretty thin.
aww man you are too cute :P i'm excited to try making some polymer creatons!
all ur creations are so amazing....how many hours you bake it in oven :-)
I enjoyed this detailed tutorial, but I want to know how did you you make the last one so shiny?
Sculpey Gloss Glaze. :-)

Hello Teresa, I was wondering can these techniques be done with cold porcelain. Do you work with cold porcelain also? If so how would you compare it?
I have never used cold porcelain. Maybe some day :-)

Hi. The bracelet I'm wearing is from a mold I made of a brass trim panel. Cool, huh?
Can you show us how to do that? It is gorgeous.
Thank you Blackcat!
Could you please teach a class on how to make a signature cane???? Thank you!!!
I agree I want to learn signature canes! What a great idea!
Hi I'm legally blind and I would like to know where could i get some of those measuring stick that you are using for your bracelets.
Hmmm... my boyfriend Spike made them at a wood factory. I'll bet you could make some with thick plastic or rulers. I'll try it.
Thank you so much.

Could you explain why your bracelets are so thick? Is there a minimum thickness that you need to make them sturdy enough?
I make them in varying thicknesses "in real life". The reason I show them with 3 layers is that some people use Sculpey III which is very brittle. Cool completely, loosen from the can with a thin piece of plastic before removing, superglue it if all else fails. Its all good. :-)
thank you
Thanks for the tutorial :)
My pleasure, Carol.
Existe alguna manera de poder ver una traducción en español que no entiendo nada de inglés ??
Ned N. I use Sculp
ey Gloss Glaze.
Every time I've tried to use sculpey gloss glaze it leaves streaks from the paintbrush. How do you avoid this?
@@teressa7666 I had the same problem so I developed my own coatings. You can get them at TinyPandor.com
The first piece is thickest setting. In my Two easy bracelet vid I give a tip about weighting the can. Check it out. :-)
Always a great job Teresa! Wish my studio looked as clean and orderly as yours though! ack! I wouldn't dare take cameras in there! LOL
Amazing work.1111111111
