One thing to be aware of is that the old yellowing tritium eventually flakes off the dial and can end up inside the movement. I have heard of cases where IWC will refuse to service a Mark XII unless you agree to replace the dial with a new non-tritium version. This is why you see dials with Swiss Made on the bottom instead of T Swiss Made. This means the dial has been replaced. Not a big deal, but it's a shame to lose the character of the aged tritium colour.
Great overview John, it's my favourite watch, classy but not brash so I'm comfortable wearing it anywhere in the world without causing unwanted interest that some other brands might generate.
Excellent presentation on the IWC Mark 12. I’m fortunate enough to own one myself I collected it in 1996 and love it to this day. You’re so right about emphasizing the movement as being a JLC as you know, they supplied movements to Patek and AP. I’m thrilled that you did this review of the fantastic MK XII pilot watch. Best wishes.
Great review! Was able to get this watch with beads of rice bracelet and its awesome! Even changing the date you can appreciate how great the movement is!
Wow, sounds and looks like a very interesting piece! 👌👌👌 I'm currently looking around for a pilot watch with some story or history behind it. I will have to think over this one! Thanks for the video!
I think IWC’s are best at entry level. Their other pilots are too thick and too big. Their in house movement are not accurate at all. ETA / sellita is the way
Two of the heaviest names in Horology in the same watch ! I was extremely lucky to score mine for pretty much a bargain price, bevause it wasn't running right and needed a service

Hey John, could you get Hans to remove the caseback.? It would be awesome to see the JLC movement.

Simple and functional on the outside, complicated elegance on the inside! Very awesome👏👏👏👏👍🏼

Came here because I just picked up the Mark XII from DelRay Watch Supply and wanted to know more
This may be my grail. For now, wearing a tribute Smiths Navigator prs-48.
I was given this watch by a friend some years back...i just had it "serviced" by IWC Milan and it cost 865 € for the service.
Wow, sounds and looks like a very interesting piece! 👌👌👌

Welcome thanks for stopping by!
Very cool watch. This is a very interesting and informative video, thank you John :)
Def a cool piece especially with that movement.
Georgous watch simple and elegant
That Mk. XII looks very similar to the Hamilton khaki Field Mechanical, but at a more manageable size.
Yes sir :)
And infinitely better in every single way
Dude, you gotta hold it still, please!
How much can I get this watch for lad? Geez an estimate pal.
Cheers!!
Please hold the watch still...I’m getting motion sickness from the video

I love mine too
Dang all that movement talk and not one movement shot!
IWC? Meh..... Too proud in my opinion. Kind of reminds me of Panerai. 😂 Next! Thanx for the vid.
Its a sellita inside
Mark xii is the only mark that based jeager le coultre movement. Is highly collectible. After that the rest are ETA based movement
I have a lady's version of the IWC mark VII. Does it also have the JLC movement too? This size is rare I believe?
