It's a shame that Kendo's real fate is canonical. His ghost survival run was so dramatic to me that i felt it should have retconned his death.

Barry did not save Kendo. To be honest the original makes no sense to me. Barry was hiding out in Canada, I find it extremely hard to believe that he flew a freaking helicopter from his home in Canada to Raccoon City.

While Claire and Leon were definitely the heroes, Kendo was the true MVP. The guy gave away his guns for free to the citizens so they'd all have a fighting chance to escape, lost his daughter and still clung on to his sanity to help Leon and Ada, then through sheer willpower alone he escaped by gauntleting a horde of zombies all the way to the edge of a city single handedly. The dude was a beast that even Doomguy would flinch at

In Original RE2, his shop got attacked by zombies and died while he was helping Leon or Claire.
In Remake, he lost his will to live and stayed with his daughter till her turn. He did not attempt to escape. Either he got bit by his daughter or nuked.
As stated already, Kendo canonically dies in raccon city. The same for all ghost survivors.
@@erdalatagul7699 Given this scenario starts off with his putting a shotgun to his mouth, and the divergence point is that he decides not to pull the trigger and escape (his "alternate plan" he mentioned with Jill was to escape via chopper with Barry as the pilot, apparently), it's pretty obvious that his canon fate is that he blew his brains out after putting down his zombified or near-zombified daughter.
Really, we should have heard a second gunshot a short while after his mercy-killing of his daughter, but I think the devs overlooked that.
It looks like the original plan was to take his wife and daughter to an evac point, with Barry piloting the chopper, arranged shortly before Jill arrived; but, they both became infected. His wife had to be put down because she turned and threatened their daughter and himself, and by the time Jill arrived, their daughter was in severe decline (hence his distracted looks at the door while Jill was trying to talk to him, and given how he reacted and his parting message to her, he'd already made up his mind that they weren't going to escape).
By the time Leon and Ada encountered him a day or so later, their daughter was in the end-stage of infection; he'd resigned himself to their fate, and it's likely Barry didn't know that the plan was off (so canonically it's likely he hung around waiting for Kendo's call, before giving up and flying off).
Days later after the survivors all escaped, Kendo and his family's bodies were incinerated by the could-be-nuke-but-may-not-be-a-nuke dropped on the City. Well, if they hadn't been eaten or something beforehand.

The transition when he enters the parking garage is so perfect, even more so when he blows up the fuel tank zombie and starts descending the stairs to the exact beat of the song!!!! MAN THAT GIVES ME CHILLS TO THIS DAY!!!
The feeling of a father that lost his own daughter, Its expressed in this song. Mixture of surviving notes and desperation until 2:11. At this point the song changes radically. Awesome game that i played in winter of 2019.

I doubt that honor daughter by surviving would be fitting. In more ways, he would remember what was the cause, and remembering the tragedy, he could even save millions, like Leon. But... A tragic for losing a family you loved so much, is more of a pain, that almost no one can bear.
Whoever made this ost is a genious. I can imagine myself playing re 3 remake mercinaries and this song playing... capcom has to add re3 mercinaries to the game.

Everything is canon in the universe where it takes place.
Kendo and Ghosts missions don't have anything that can deem them non canon, for all we know Ghost survived and became the Agent who works with Ada in RE6 co-op and Kendo escaped the city.
@sadsuya They do, that being the "Night that never dawned" or whatever that plays when you boot them up.
However, in your own headcannon you could definitely make these cannon.
None of the other RE games would refute that, so for what you want. Plus, agent being ghost Is basically perfect.

I really like how this starts off somber, then steadily gets more heroic as Kendo fights his way through the city (and towards his salvation). It's not just him honoring his daughter's memory by surviving- He survives because of his close bonds with others: the S.T.A.R.S. officers, who are his second family.
2:11 I can feel the same nostalgic and incredible moment of Raid Mode of RE Revelations 1/2 "Heat on beat 2015"
You can feel the emotion with this track.
That feeling of hopelessness and wanting to give up, to then suddenly having the will power to live and fight through It.
After what kendo had been though in his story line that takes guts, he lost everything but had that fight within him to keep going for the sake of his loved ones.

I personally interpret his cannon ending as this
He goes into that room with his daughter, forcing himself to shoot her. But no matter how much he tells himself to do it, he can't. And so he turns the barrel on himself, which is why there is only 1 gunshot
When you are not doing it, you get to that last corner with 2 shots in shotgun and zero handgun ammo. When you are doing it, you made it to the end with 12 shotgun ammos still in your inventory.

The first bit heavily sounds like the OST to Splinter Cell: Double Agent or Chaos Theory.
I thought this was a nice twist. Originally Kendo died a gruesome death. I like the fact he now honors his daughters memory by surviving and doing good.
This track inspired me to give up on these missions

Tbf those modes were fire. And the 4th survivor. They kept me coming back long after i was done with the campaign. And the music was of course part of it
Its sad that some people actually believe that its canon that he survived..... its not. The whole "Ghost Survivors" DLC is just a "What if" storyline by Capcom. Maybe even a story where those people, who did not survive wish how things would have played out for them.
I think it's a testament to the writing and how much we care about this guy.
