Very interesting! A million years ago, my tall brother had to modify his Challenger on his own because nothing like this was available. He managed to get the job done but took him ages to get the right materials and figure everything out.
Being 67, this is the best UA-cam channel I've come across that really will affect some of my life decisions. I just found and subscribed 2 days ago. Thank you
To move my own seats back I cobbled together a modified seat rail for my own car in 2014, and it lasted up through last year, where it finally broke. Unfortunately, it deadlined the seat rails of my stock seat, so I had to buy aftermarket seats. However, I was able to talk to the seat MFR and had them move the mounting holes for the new seat rails back, so I have all my leg room still. Like all tall people, I've had to try on cars for many years, and I wish some sort of seat rail business like this had existed in the 1990s.
Thank you! It always baffles me when I see a Freaky Tall person drive a Corvette or similar and get out of their vehicle. Now I can understand the attraction - no back seat, long doors so more side vision. I am not on the tall side, but learned a long time ago to keep checking the side mirrors for traffic. The newer cars have warning lights on the side mirrors if someone is in the blind spot, but that comes with a price tag. There is definitely some planning on vehicle selection. I got lucky driving a Camaro as it is definitely for shorties like me! Zoom zoom!!!
Biggest concern for me is that airbags arent tested on your seat being that far back (not that theyre tested on super tall anyway, but that is less of a factor in operation)
That’s a great point. I also have concerns with the seatbelt locking mechanism working that far back. Some of the stuff I just happen to think about AFTER the video is posted.
I have read that airbags are most dangerous to short people who have to sit really close to the steering wheel. A friend of mine who is about 5'2-ish was involved in a low speed crash and the amount of injury to her chest, face, and arms was flabbergasting (!!) but her face was only a few inches away from the steering wheel.
I'm 6'8 and the seat in my toyota can actually go far enough, but the problem is the steering wheel, it doesn't go far enough and with the seat so far I have to then lean forward to reach the steering wheel.
the auto makers shrunk the headroom and leg room for a reason. the reason is they want you to pay $40,000-73000 for an suv, they make a lot more money on an suv
My son has a mitsubishi outlander wagon. He is 6ft 8, and a big boy. He has the seat back as much as possible and his inner thighs are up either side of the steering wheel, with his leg tuned to the side so he can use his foot sideways for the pedal. Is there any way to lower and adjust the seat back? I've been told that we need to get a aftermarket drivers seat fitted, is this correct? And how do I find one please? Thanks Michelle
there is one problem with this if you are 6 ft 2 inch tall when you try to use the brackets on a 2007 honda accord sedan if there was not enough headroom to begin with. because these brackets cause the seat to sit higher and now your head is closer to touching the roof.
i agree that is a problem for me also and i think by using these extender brackets will cause the seat to sit higher resulting in your head touching the roof.
The problem with this is you can't also extend the steering column out further, so you'd sit more hunched over, causing back problems.
totally agree....

My new car is being customized at the factory for me…a must!!
That is so cool! I’ll definitely be installing in my vehicle!
Did you do it
I just order it for my wife's car! She has arthritis and it's hard for her getting in and out of her car!
Did it work out?
let us know if it works!

I always appreciate every video you post
That means the world to me! My goal is to provide value for anyone interested in big and tall content so that’s exactly what I like to hear!

@@FreakyTallReviews yes, i also worried about whether the seat belts would still retract since now you would be sitting further back.

I just bought a Cadillac that needs the seats moved back. Hoping they can rig something up at the local mechanic

Cory anyway you can get your hands on a respawn 900 and test it. Please
Do they have anything to lower the seat even more than the lowest setting, so that I can get more head room in the car?
