Thank you! You went right by the two homes I grew up in and the old Sunshine School on the left as you go up Wallins Street and the Sunshine Baptist Church up above the old Armory. Thanks!
Your very welcome. Some day down the road I’d love to get a 360 degree camera and out on top of my truck for these videos. That way everyone could pause the video and look around in these communities. I’m so glad I caught some places familiar to you and brought back some memories
In 1962 I visited my grandparents who were living ina "hollar" just outside of Harlan. It was some beautiful country much like what you see here in this video. A favorite memory is of how I would find an old coin in my change whenever I bought anything. I was 11 or 12 and new to coin collecting. Coming from a big city suburb of LA, where all the coinage was less than 20 y/o, I was thrilled to find some 40 y/o and more. Thanks for the memories! PS. Flattening pennies on the RR tracks was fun! ☺
I have flattened a few coins on the tracks in my time too. Mom and dad got an old metal milk can (the ones about 3 foot tall) and started putting spare change in it when they first got married in the early 70’s. It was filled to the top by the early 90’s, and I think mom still has it somewhere. Always wanted to dump it out and see how old the coins were toward the bottom
Thanls for the drive Steven. Sunshine has changed through the years. I would love to see some old pictures before the bypass. One thing very noticable to me was the lack of street signs. Quite evident why emergency services of any type would have problems finding a particular location. Unfortunately this is an issue in many local areas. it is very sad that this has gone on for years. I never knew that Sunshine was not in the city limits. I would love to know more about that. Interesting. Enjoyed the ride. Never been on many of those streets. I didn't know that the ambulance service was in that area.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Yes, the street signs missing is a huge problem for us, and another big problem for us is people not displaying their house numbers. If they are hidden, missing, or not big enough to see from the road it slows us down. Even if we aren’t coming to your house, it helps us find addresses close to you. And I showed the ambulance service because not many people know that’s where we are.
We didn't know about this community. Great video. Thanks..
Your very welcome. Lol, I thought everyone knew about Sunshine. Their fire department covers the biggest part of the county
Great Video as always! Keep'em coming
Thanks bud. Been liking your videos too. Keep working at it. I seen you are starting to grow a little, and that makes me excited for you

Did you mean cartons creek? If so, any particular part?
