Lyrics: There's a bloke on a box All around are tiny cocks Along the road to Gundagai They smell like Tojo's armpits Their looks are very plain Add them all together You might get half a brain There's a man on a mound Still his feet are on the ground Along the road to Gundagai He won't salute an arsehole; The bloke won't lift his arm He stands around the prison Proud and bloody calm There's a mate on a crate Got the Nips in quite a state Along the road to Gundagai Along the road to Gundagai! Second half: There's a Jap with a crack And wedged up a cricket bat Along the road to Gundagai The Nips all call him Arsehole He has no real friends When he walks around the prison The bat hangs out his end There's a Nip with a rump And wedged up a cricket stump Along the road to old brown eye!

Seriously one of the best TV series i've watched...my granddad was over there but thankfully was never captured but was shot twice during the pacific campaign with the 2/6th Commando Squadron but even when I was younger it was very similar to this. He would meet with his mates from the war at the RSL and back then I could go with him. Went to a few funerals of his friends and never truly got it but this series I guess in a way really drives home the bonds formed in war.
I love this series so much, I found it quite balanced as it showed the Japanese having their emotional moments too, and those six old fellas have such a beautiful friendship * sniff * * sniff *
Gordon's Will, my favourite out of the bunch. This series has given a great impact to those who don't understand the conditions of the POWs captured by Japan in WW2. :')
Ability is when you can create an impact with two parodies of 'The Road to Gundagai' in six short episodes than a long running series can in around 300 episodes.
@Reuben Corrigan Yeah mate, you've buggered it. Here's the correct lyrics: There's a bloke on a box All around are tiny cocks Along the rode to Gundagai They smell like Tojo's armpits Their looks so very plain Add them all together You might get half a brain There's a man on a mound Still his feet are on the ground Along the road to Gundagai
He won't salute an arsehole The bloke won't lift his arm he stands inside the prison Proud and bloody calm There's a mate on a crate Got the nips in quite a state Along the road to Gundagai Along the road to Gundagai
@Reuben Corrigan Nah no worries. I get you were just trying to help out but had trouble getting through our accent. Sorry if I sounded like I was being harsh on ya.

There's a bloke on a box
All around are tiny cocks
Along the road to Gundagai
They smell like Tojo's armpits
Their looks are very plain

Proud and bloody calm
There's a mate on a crate
Got the Nips in quite a state
Along the road to Gundagai
Along the road to Gundagai!

One of my fav series! very bitter sweet.
Ironic story. Two of my grandfathers were in Singapore. Creepy if they actually fought together.
It would have been great if at the same time the British soldiers started singing hitler has only got one ball
Charls that one Imperialist lol yep
It would be kinda like that scene from Casablanca with the french singing La Marseillaise and the German Officers singing Die Wacht Am Rhein
