This dynasty is much easier to deal with since the names are more modern than the Merovingians. Plus the history is much more familiar. I'm enjoying this series very much. Thank you!
Very interesting again! And I now understand how France managed to have such a ridiculous number of kings called Louis- they started in the 9thc 😂 I didn't know it started that early, or that the first Louis was Charlemagne's son.
Hi, awesome live history video. I enjoyed it. How are you and cute Rani your cat doing? I'm doing well, and so is my cat Benjamin. He says hi to you and cute Rani, your cat. He sends his purrs. My cat Benjamin gets scared when he sees people coming to visit me at my apartment. Does Rani your cat get scared when she sees people? We have lots of rain in Ontario, Canada. How's the weather where you are? Have a great day see you next video 😊
We’re currently in Norway on vacation and it feels like fall here. 15 degrees, rain and windy. Brrr…. Rani indeed doesnt like strangers and hides in the bedroom when we get company. Where does Benjamin hide ? Give him our love !!!
They spent much of their time fighting one another and/or defending from invasions from Hungarians and Vikings. And they weren't very good at it. Charles the Simple had a great idea though (that only backfired 150 years later): he gave to Rollo, a viking leader, a duchy at the mouth of the Seine river, effectively turning Rollo into the bodyguard of Paris. That's also during this time period that Feudalism became a thing, with hereditary nobles taking the power for themselves, reducing greatly the power of the kings.
Thank you so much for working on this channel! There is sore need for more content on the French monarchy on UA-cam, excluding of course the plethora of videos on the battles of Crecy and Agincourt. I'm eagerly anticipating the video on the capetian dynasty and hope you will cover more of the French monarchy from the middle ages, especially the curse of Philippe IV.
Many died while hunting or fell off a horse. 😌
i noticed that as well! It would have been wiser to leave the hunting to others. 😉
Some died hitting their head on a door, how silly is that…
Dangerous but popular pastime.

Glad you’re liking this video Bev !

I like this history on the history of the royal Franks/French. You are so clever!
Fascinating…just so cool.
Hello, kings of France. It's me- Savage Darksider.
@@a.w.5489 Yeah, this channel is only temporary.
New nickname !
Great! Slight mistake though at 3:59. I don't think any Carolingian king was crowned in 1884...
Oops… I apologize. Slip of the tongue !
Other than Charlemagne, it does not seem like this dynasty amounted to much.

@@TheKingsofFrance You're an honorary historian now, I accept you as colleague. You really manage to boil it down to a point, even for laymen.
