    After a terrible loss (his beloved brother got murdered) Bobby Hebb sat down and wrote this. Soul song full of hope and warm sun. To me one of the most powerful songs of the century. And this arrangement (Bobby, his guitar and Carter´s bass)? Simply the best.

    wow, starting with a jazz guitar rubato intro and then gradually speeding it up until it becomes some sort of gospel tempo and feel. it's soulful, funky and jazzy all in one song. genius. love it.

      Gospel? Are you on meth? Gospel isn’t that temple, it’s bland and flat.. that’s classical snd samba.. blacks always stole from whites, but we allow it when it’s this good..

    This is one of my all time favorites,,!, since 1967 or maybe earlier. It’s an extremely heartfelt and soulful composition and the musicianship of these two musicians makes my life complete. I can remember where I heard this song,what I was doing, and how many times I played the 45,,! Can’t say how much this beautiful song has impacted and influenced my life and love for music

    • @JonasAogo
      @JonasAogo 2 роки тому +4

      @@ShermanKyle hey, a few years ago i found a commentary below that helped me figure out almost the whole song in this exact version.
      It starts with
      2xEm7 - G6 - Cmaj7 - F#m7 - B7
      Em7 - G6 - Cmaj7 - F7 - F#m7 - B7
      Em7 - G6 - Cmaj7
      After every verse he does step up modulations
      So it continues with
      2x Fm7 - G#6 - C#maj7 - Gm7 - C7 etc.
      Hope you get it.

      Singing and playing is a weird thing for me. I generally can't! But sometimes the lyrics and chords just 'fit' and I don't have to think about it, and I can just... Do it! 😊
      Amazingly, this is one I can do! 😊 Not brilliantly, but I can manage it! ✌🏼😉👍🏼
      PJ Harvey, David Bowie and Blind Melon are a few I can sing and play without having to concentrate too hard on.
      Don't really know why I can do those particular artists better than others, I think it's something to do with phrasing the words between/over chords, and just sharing a similar natural cadence with them. 🤔 ✌🏼😊👍🏼
