Or, less likely, one of the few kids at my school who opted out was actually very educated on sex ed. And I get why their parent was like no thanks because my "sex ed" seminar was actual bullshit. This is like one of only valid reasons to opt your kids out sex ed imo.
I was surprised by the lack of health information and focus on getting married, virginity, and only having sex with virgins within marriage. I think there was a bit of shaming or at least heavily implied shaming towards who weren't virgins. And a kiddo in the audience was crying cause they were sexual abused in the past.
Downplaying the use of contraception, they're not completely effective so just don't have sex till after marriage. Misinformation on STIs by suggesting STIs magically spawn when people have sex with people who aren't virgins rather than transmitted by people who have that STIs. There was also zero mentioning of STD testing.
And last but certainly not least telling us not to become registered sex offenders because we'll be doxxed by being put on the registered sex offender list. And warning us about how easy it is to become a sex offender because you can never tell how old underage teenage girls are and that's it's so easy to accidentally rape someone especially when your drunk and you can't take that mistake back even if your rape victime forgives you it'll be in the police's hands. And that is why you should never drink or go to bars. And that this is another reason why you should only have sex within marriage because you can't rape your wife 👀💀💀
You know what they didn't take even two seconds to talk about instead? Consent. Like sir I am not going to accidentally rape someone, thank you. I don't know what the point of this gross rape apologist narrative was. I'm glad my classmates at least audibly reacted because we know marital rape is real even if the speaker didn't 💀.
Like I wish I was making this shit up but no, that brainrot was real. I was in shock during and after that seminar. It made me lose braincells. They gave us the opportunity to write a review of the sex ed seminar and mine took up the whole ass page because what the actual fuck did I just experience? 💀💀I kept ranting after that cause I was just so stunned and pissed at the misinformation. My friends got to know the "sex positive pro equal access to basic human health information" part me very well.
Like if my future kiddo was getting that bullshit rather than actual comprehensive sex ed, I'll happily be that parent who doesn't sign the permission slip. And I also didn't get sex ed information from my family and had to learn from the internet which is not ideal but I was provided with plenty of high quality information unlike the Texas education system. Anyway I'm definitely pro good medically accurate sex ed and no it should not be up to parents deprive their kids of access to basic health information.

If I was a kid and my parents didn't sign my permission slip to learn about whatever topic they were teaching I would just ask my friend what I missed when I got back into the class. Kids are going to be exposed to these concepts regardless. Parents are so focused on sheltering and controlling their kids, that they refuse to equip their kids with the knowledge they need to tackle issues they face in real life. Which is why kids who are only taught abstinence-only rhetoric end up engaging in unsafe sexual practices.

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. This SHOULD be one of the biggest issues of the day considering we still have at least a dozen states teaching abstinence only…you know, the states with the highest rates of teen pregnancy, STDS including a growing HIV population among young adults, incest and chomo. I can’t believe that it’s 2023 and we seem to be falling, PLUMMETING backwards.
I’m a boomer who was beat when I even brought up monthly periods. I decided at a young age I would educate my children…my “mother” insisted my eldest knowing the birds and bees at 13 would cause her to be pregnant by 16. 😂. Uhmm..she’s 42, and she and her wonderful wife decided not to have children because of health issues they both have. “Besides mom, you keep getting with these young dudes with young kids…I have a dozen younger step-siblings!”
      😁
Seriously though, we’re from the South. I knew my kids weren’t going to get an education in school that would both protect them and inform them. When my eldest was 14, she had a friend come over for the night. I wasn’t going to monitor everything they were talking about, they were 14yr old girls. Apparently, my daughter educated her friend who knew absolutely NOTHING And as an only child, her friend was told that God brought her to her parents.
2 days later I had her parents and police at my front door. I literally didn’t know whether to laugh or cry..this young girl reminded me of my upbringing. When the police found out it wasn’t me doing the educating, they let the parents know there was nothing they could do except warn me my daughter shouldn’t be telling other kids. I made a remark about Santa Claus, the mother went ballistic talking in tongues. My daughter’s friend, like me at that age, didn’t even know about her period. I guess it’s on a “need to know” classified level in fundie homes. Several years later the young lady thanked and apologized to my daughter. Her parents married her off at 17 and she divorced and left the state shortly afterwards. Apparently, she wanted to be a doctor, but that was unacceptable to mom & dad. 🙄. I hope she achieved her dream, is happy and healthy, and like me, is honest with her children…if she has any.
My generation has f’d so much up…if I was my younger daughter’s age, I doubt I’d want kids these days.

The first time I got my period (I was like 12) and had a panic attack in the middle school locker room because I was never educated about what was happening. That does not account for the years of self loathing and confusion I felt for my own queerness because of the lack of representation and education. I remember in my sophomore year, in the middle of the year two teachers were fired for being in same sex relationships. one of them was my previous english teacher and the other was my current sex-ed teacher. although she was following the curriculum guidelines given, but she still taught us about being safe and healthy in same sex relationships. and unfortunately it costed her her job. even in my extremely liberal blue state.

Fun times! And yeah I totally agree with the queer bit too, would have been nice to have some positive rep at a young age- I didn't even know being bi was an option until I was like 14, and that's not including all the self hatred I had ages 12-17

You ever play one of those dumb party games like Mafia where someone is the murderer (who gets to "kill" someone every night) and someone is the doctor and someone is the police (etc) and everyone has to try to figure out who everyone is and catch the murderer before the murderer kills everyone? Ok good. Anyway, sometimes when people play those games, some people will end up deflecting and blaming and accusing other [innocent] people in an effort to ensure their own survival... even if it actually comes as a detriment to the group as a whole.

On monogamy being "natural" or not. I saw a Stanford University lecture on how they did a study on two different kinds of voles/moles. One was super monogamous , one super polyamorous.
They eventually narrowed down the gene/hormones that heavily influenced the behavior and were able to medically switch their behaviors around.
    Anyways.
TL:DR Humans are all over the place with some statical tendencies. The tendency is to be monogamous but for a specific period of time, then go to a new partner. (It seemed to correlate with how long it would take to raise a child until it can feed itself.)
HOWEVER like a gradient scale there are peeps who are more monogamously inclined and some who are not.

huh? no one is saying you dont exist. youre a person in the world. you were born a certain sex, and you hate your body to the point of trying to change it. rather than saying - youre feminine or masculine - terms that already exist. you dont need to change your name - your parents chose it for a reason (and names for males... are that way for a reason, names for females... that way for a reason) - and pronouns arent a choice - theyre based off your sex.
you expect the world to affirm your decisions, when you couldnt accept yourself for what you were born as. im gay - I accepted myself. rather than affirming, or seeking affirmation for decisions and thoughts that arent important (like gender stereotypes, that mean nothing) - accept yourself for what you have always been, full stop. wear dresses if you want, wear jeans if you want - no one is stopping you. just accept that social norms also exist - and you dont have a right to expect attention, or affirmation for those choices. make decisions based on what YOu want - not because you want a costume for others to notice.

as someone who started HRT AS A MINOR. this whole "protect the kids" notion is total bullshit. the HOOPS i had to go through to receive testosterone a mere 6 months before turning 18 were insane. i had to see a LICENSED gender therapist. establish care, continue care for 4 months, and then have a conference with the LEAD counselor & a parent. he explained absolutely everything to myself and my mom; even the really embarrassing stuff. it was not until SHE consented that I was granted my letter supporting HRT therapy.
this is all without even mentioning the medical care itself!! i had to find an HRT physician who was taking new patients, accepted my insurance, and would provide a minor with gender affirming care. then i had to have a consultation with the doctor, get parent's consent AGAIN, get proper bloodwork and physical tests done, and THEN. only after ALL THAT. could i start HRT.
and i believe that all these safeguards are beneficial! anyone not performing them is guilty of malpractice. you need to operate with integrity and honesty, and on the basis of consent from the parent, when treating a minor.
i have also had 2 gender affirming surgeries. NOT A SINGLE SURGEON IN MY STATE PERFORMS GAS ON MINORS. they will straight up turn you away and tell you to come back when you are of age. the doctor who gave the 15 year old a mastectomy is a FREAK and should lose his medical license.
giving minors plastic surgery is ALWAYS IMMORAL. cis or trans!! so why this one case got everyone worked up about trans people is insane. the doctor should lose his license regardless. but he is part of the 0.0000001% (obviously exaggerating) of doctors that would perform a non-necessary surgery on a minor.

They are people who have swallowed up so much abuse and indoctrination that it spews out of them, and they tend to turn that upon others (i.e. trans). They can be anything from a kind, sympathetic motherly-character to being the actual antagonist. I had the displeasure of finding him on my FYP one day and he was arguing with a trans lesbian about calling herself a lesbian, saying that she can identify as a woman, but she is straight because she has a penis and has sex with people with vaginas. She then goes on to say she has sex with people who identify as women regardless of genitals, to which he says, "well then you're bi end of discussion." Like dude, you are not the label police, stop trying to tell people what they are when the only person whose labels you can police are your own out in the real world.

It really depends on what one interprets by “over sexualized”. I suppose a conservative gay person would interpret it as “gay people in media talk too much about sex” or something, while someone on the more left side could interpret is as “Straight people think more about gay sex including whatever gay sex they think I might be having in the bedroom regardless of the reality of things”. I’m both queer and trans and I would definitely say the last part. I feel like the homophobic straight think more about gay sex than most gay people. It’s weird too, if I met some guy and find out he’s straight, I don’t start thinking about him railing chicks and I feel like that’s what in general queer folks are like when we find out someone is straight. But some random cishet can talk all day, and probably think about it even more in private, about whatever sex even a hypothetical gay person might engage in.

thats the problem with Jubilee videos, the questions are always so subjective cause it makes better arguments. its not just that question they ask things that could be interpreted in many different ways because the way the two groups of people use terms is inherently different. i.e. right vs left people would interpret woke differently and argue based on their subjective interpretation
