I saw that too, even wrote up a comment about why he shouldn't have won. Then I checked back to the ad naus draws and he had a ragavan to pull the combo off legally at least so he still could have won.
Great episode. Just wanted to thank Ryan for narrating most of these videos. As a non-player the narration makes it really easy to follow the game play

Something that’s really cool about Cedh is how some of the most powerful combos leave you ether dead or out of the game (worldgorger, thorical, chain of smog, any underworld breach + LED). It makes for some memorable moments.
What an absurd set of games. Four turbo decks going head-to-head, and a personal favorite of mine, Anje, making an appearance. Great stuff, great plays, fantastic games, and one hell of a game 1.
Sweet sweet justice game 4, or perhaps revenge. Game 3, Ryan foiled John's win attempt by destroying the wgd in response to the etb, leaving John with no permanents. The next game John stole Ryan's peer to win the game. Love the story arch on this :)
I really am happy watching your guys show. There is always an air of sportsmanship and respectfor the game that does not happen everywhere else. thanks
John. I love the discard: draw effects. I used The Locust God to do so and when infinite mana hits, I discard Avacyn's Judgement and make the madness of X equal enough to win.
Ryan's curio loop should not have worked with Esper Sentinel. Curio Triggers whenever a "nonartifact permanent" comes into play so Esper would not be able to return dockside. It is the same reason it would not work with an Ornithopter or Memnite. Pretty sure Ryan has it regardless but is an important note to point out for viewers
Almost pooped my pants seeing Yennett at the table. She’s one of my favorite commanders of all time and I’ve been trying to make a competitive list for a while
Something I wondered at 8:40 - would it have made sense for John to attack Jeska with Anje on the first turn? (Or maybe you wanted to keep Anje untapped, or maybe you wanted to keep Jeska around thinking that she would deal with other threats?)
John had the mayhem devil from the peer, but if he didn’t could he have drawn his deck? Rootwalla cloud stone dockside and Anje can bounce rootwalla, activate anje discarding rootwalla and playing free from madness, bounce dockside, drawing a card and untapping anje, repeat?
On turn 4 in game 3 when shallow grave was countered by swan song how many cards did Ryan have in hand because if he had the chrome mox and a black card he could have continued the shallow grave with the floating mana from mana crypt (or did I miss something that didn’t allow this)
That's way I hate Thoracle/consultation... it's way too easy to win with just a little mana... Besides that, awesome matches as always! Edit: thanks for the 4 match video
This is correct, although Ad Naus drew him a Ragavan, which would have been enough to keep going, so thankfully it didn't actually change the outcome of the game.
the games were exciting but man i feel like a fool for clicking thinking 'wow yennet, ive never seen that commander before i wonder what it does!' 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
@@PlayingWithPowerMTG at 12.10 instead of paying 2 for shadow from his hand. 2 and 3 cards for dockside. He seems to have a lot of cards in the yard If more than 6 maybe even recast a ritual once or twice to get the mana up. Then cast shadow of the grave.
Spoiler Comment: I find it hilarious that the group probably spent more time shuffling than actually playing Game 1. I'd like to think that Zack was the only person to have to shuffle up their deck cuz the rest of the group did nothing. Though realistically, it makes sense to shuffle up again since Zac and Shawn were the only ones who could have free counter spells.
Why the heck does the Yennet pilot Necro so small every time?? Wouldn't you rather necro for like 20 for win cons and protection, and then push to win???
Make sure your cedh combo opponents are pile shuffling, fam. Let's ensure they don't just need to mulligan 3 times until they find their clutch of combo cards.
Anyone else really annoyed with the hate that Shawn was given? Ynette didn't even see play because the other three removed him from being able to play meanwhile they allll turned their heads while Anje ran away with card draw and the other two had interaction for days. Threat assessment really seemed incorrect and misplaced.
Zach, John, and Ryan were able to actually interact and play, while the three of them made sure Shawn couldn't. I'd reconsider playing wjth those three again. Swords to plowshare the Kraum was the right move. I want to hear Zach cry hahahaha
@@xOptoger you make a good point, but in retrospect Anje was drawing fresh new hands every single turn and often more than that in between others turns. The argument I'm seeing is worried about 1 top deck spell that NEEDS to be an odd cmc...whereas everyone else had card advantage in excess or interaction in excess. I'm recognizing I'm a little biased as I'm an esper player myself, but watching everyone one else allowed to quite literally pop off because of poor threat assessment has me a little irritated based solely on that alone. Like at this moment I'm not the threat. Everyone else has abundant card advantage and interaction.

He could have done it with the Ragavan from the ad naus instead
Quick rules clarification on cloudstone curio. Why does esper sentinel trigger curio when it says "nonartifact permanent"?
it definitely shouldn't, I think they just missed it
It shouldn't have, although Ad Naus gave him a Ragavan, and he could have still combo'd off with that.
Ryan (and the rest of the table) missed it! Ryan did get Ragavan though, so it didn't matter in the end as he could've just used that.
