The ojai pizza place is the best. We go there every year on my husbands birthday. It's that good. We always order the Mediterranean pizza. That's the one that made this place famous.
Brilliant video! Was planning a day trip to Solvang with my wife in a few weeks but after watching this video of OJAI I don’t know where to go now! Thanks for this sir
Thanks! I have to admit that I prefer Ojai over Solvang. Solvang is nice, but it's a bit kitschy and more touristy. I feel like Ojai is more of an artsy community. Either way, you'll have a great time! 😎
I live in ojai and I think you did a great job at describing it. One of our favorite places to eat is Oisteria Monte Grappe. We also have a small movie theatre that shows one movie at a time
I grew up there; I remember a small airport in Meiners Oaks and a train went all the way back into the Ojai Valley. It is hot, hot, hot in the summer. I liked going to O-Hi freeze for the custom malts; my favorite was chocolate fudge mint. The open air bookstore was new; the books outside were a dime, you threw the money over the courtyard wall after hours.
Nice! It must have been an interesting place to spend your childhood. I imagine it must feel so different now, especially with all the weekend tourists. 😎
@@TripAstute Honestly; Ojai has the same feel I think because people come here in a good mood and the environment is the same. Ojai has always attracted progressive thinkers and famous people; but this is where they live or retreat to be left alone and have a normal laid-back life. Ojai is where we used to ride our horses in town to go to the store. Fun Fact: California Cuisine was invented&developed at the Ranch House restaurant, a favorite of John Lennon, and Yoko Ono,Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, Dave Mason, Reese Witherspoon, Marlon Brando, Kirk Douglas, Ann-Margret, Robert Redford, Malcom McDowell, Barbara Streisand, and many others.
Good video, albeit short. I was born n raised in this town. I've never eaten at these places you suggest, except for OBC. Those eateries cater almost 100% to tourists. My point is, there are many other great places to eat. And drink. And there are a lot of hiking trails surrounding Ojai, as well as twisty mountain roads great for a car cruise.
Thanks! Good point -- there are a lot of places to check out in Ojai. We were just there for a weekend, but I'm sure there is so much more to explore. 😎
@@TripAstute You'll like it better with prolonged experience, and find it's not as artsy, counter-culture as it may seem to 99% of visitors. But not in a bad way. Crime is next to non-existent. It's well (but not overly) policed. And we have a bitchin' concert arena right squat in the middle of town (walkable from all us "broke" Ojai'ns that can't afford the multi-million ranches surrounding us). Before Covid, these concerts were awesome! Mostly past known acts, but professionally done none-the-less! And Summer twilights and nights in Ojai are 2nd to none!
Hello from 2019! Visit the Farmer's Market on Sunday mornings ('til 1pm), Soule Park (for some ancient bruise inducing and rib breaking all metal no safety in mind equipment), hike on a very easy and picturesque Shelf Road Trail, make a drive to Meher Mound (spectacular Pacific Ocean and Ojai Valley views). Enjoy Ojai!!!
I worked on an Ambulance doing 911 calls in Ojai. It's definitelyfinitely a fun town! I would recommend Boccali's, Ojai Pizza Co, Beacon Coffee Co & Don Lalos. The olive oil co is great as well as local biking and hiking.
May I ask how much was the hotel cost at the Su Nido Inn and how far out did you make the reservation? You may email me if you prefer. We are planning to be there on the 14th for a wedding. Thanks for the upload and will definitely check the bookstore. The last time we were there, I had a great experience going to an estate sale where the house is full of gem stones ie., crystals, etc., that was fun and I hope there will be another one again on the next trip. 🙂
I wish I could remember how far in advanced we booked and how much we paid. Though considering we were a lot more impulsive back then, we probably booked it 2-3 weeks in advance (at most).
I so wanna go there I was meant to go when I was going to visit my friend in Pasadena but I didn't actually realise how far away California is from WA and MD and the cost of plane tickets I stayed put with my friends in Washington and Baltimore. So it was nice to watch this 😂
Yeah, I think we take it for granted the vastness of the country. It makes it hard to see everything on a trip over. I always tell people to try and focus on a region when they visit the US since it's way too big to explore everything. Hope you get a chance to visit again and make it to Los Angeles. If so, let us know! We are happy to share some of our favorite spots in and around the city. 😊
Trip Astute Mmm hmm I hear ya i think everyone does that i haven’t seen the whole of this country and Buckingham Palace is just a “house down south a few hrs away” i think people rather like to go abroad and see interesting things and not what’s in their own country haha. Yea man that would be awesome cool thanks 👍🏼 Any good clubs pubs and nightlife interests me😂Am definitely going back see my “big bro from another mo”😆 I’ve always wanted to go to LA so i will get there. Thanks, and Happy late Birthday.
Great vid. Perhaps you could have defined what books are. Many of the youngsters are unfamiliar with "books". Books are random access memory encoded onto organic substrates using pigments or dyes that represent alphabetical letters, these letters from words and phrases.
Yes, having grown (?) up in Ojai I have number of places always go to in Ojai. But if I told you I'd have to neutralize you because footprints and photo would be too much of a negative effect besides the carbon footprint. But you could take an inner trip instead.
Ojai has an occult library called Krotona Library and Research Center which probably still is the largest such library in the U.S. So if you are into witchcraft, astrology and odd religions, that's the place to go. Ojai is also the home of a couple religions one of which is the New Age religion. The cost of living went way up so it went from a small town to a tourist trap. Ojai is also known for its PGA golf course and it's tennis tournament. It was known for a good fish and game location because of the fresh fish in the streams and lakes, the craw fish, the deer, the quail, rabbit hunting and the fur trapping but those days have been over for 20 years. There is still the Ojai gun club if you want to shoot tournaments with old and new firearms plus bow and arrow, axe throwing etc.
@@imperfectcortez7749 boarding schools are very restrictive, which I understand as hired teachers are there to monitor every move since parents are entrusting them to. But every single year my head was always on the chopping block of me being expelled and it was always for things like... Because my foot literally was off campus (I was on the sidewalk) I was put on probation. I do appreciate the things boarding school equipped me with, friendships to this day (I'm in my 40s), learning how to take care of myself (self sufficiency), the outdoor education, the extra curricular activities, and discipline (which I really needed it in my pre-treens).
Um, ok, so KNEAD isn't there anymore. It's actually a vegan restaurant. The movie theatre is burned down, and there's a bar instead of the laundromat next to Coffee Roasting.
So awesome. Thanks again. I’m bringing my fam here and I’m in charge of planning 🥰
Awesome! Hope you have a wonderful time with your family. 😊
Ojai is my hometown and it’s such a beautiful little town! Thank you for sharing your experience :)

My dad did also! He worked for lifeline and he grew up there and my whole family did and some still do
If you like skating or long boarding ojai is great cause it has a ton of hills, but you probably gotta be experienced cause it's all on public roads.
Good to know. Thanks for the tip! 👍
Happy Birthday!

Was your drone black cuz I remember I was at a school in ojai and me and my friend saw a black drone above us and we started throwing rocks at it lol
