  • The cleanup from our floodway adventure continues. I restore the oil bath air filter and change the filter oil to prepare for the next adventure. This Series 3 Model 88 had a metallic hammered finish paint. Very early 1960's look. I decided to refinish it the same way. Luckily, you can still buy the same paint. It's a bit fussy but worth it. Sometime long before I bought it, my 1966 S2A lost its original air cleaner and mount, in favor of a K&N filter.
The K&N works fine and is easy to clean, but just doesn’t look right. I’ve started to look for an original air cleaner and mount bracket but have not found one as yet. As mine has a Kodiak heater and large under hood blower, I can’t imagine how it would fit.
Anyway, it’s not a show car so it’s low on priority.
    Yours looks good.
That rubber hose looks a little tired.
    Cheers.

I was thinking the same about the hose. One step at a time. Maybe with the next parts order :-)

My wife reminded me of the technique of eating an elephant: one bite at a time.👍

Here in England we tend to use Hammerite metal paint with rust preventer, it comes in smooth finish or hammered finish and is brilliant stuff!!!

Thanks for the tip. I looked and it turns out I can get Hammerite in Canada as well. I will give it a try next time.
