This dude seriously thinks a wooden house/tower is gonna stay standing for thousands of years? Why, just cus he designed it? Lmao. How many thousand year old wood structures do we see? Hmmm
There is a wooden temple in Nara , Japan from 670 AD and a church in the UK that is almost 1000 years old . If the roof and foundation are kept up then wood can last for centuries . Concrete buildings are the same , it too needs upkeep .
tbh lots of yup'ik and inupiat refer to themselves as eskimo. it's kind of a case by case basis. source: live in fbx and work with lots of native alaskans.
Native Alaskans include both Eskimo and Indian people. Generally, the word Eskimo is not thought of as pejorative in Alaska. In Canada, the word Inuit is used for the indigenous peoples, but Alaska has Inuit, Yupik and Aleut groups. As a general rule of thumb, it is not wise to comment on things about which you are ill informed.
What state should we visit next? Let us know in the comments below!

wonderful features. the audio balancing was a bit off (hard to hear voices) but loved it nonetheless

Sweden! I have a place where you can stay.
Song IDs for this video??
Hi - enjoyed the video, but the music was too loud. A nice quiet melody in the background would have been better.
I agree.
Thank you for this comment. I agree.
Yeah, it drowned out about half of what he said.
I reached 3:50 and thought, ah yes that was a good video. And then remembered there were three more. Nice!
The Goose Creek Tower reminds me of the Sutyagin house that used to stand in Archanglsk. Even the building approach is similar.
🏯🎎⛄
I enjoyed this little Journey.
Thank You 🌺
Lovely video thanks for makeing it.
Funny, I had to give a deposition in Anchorage years ago and that guy was one of the lawyers.
How can this only have 1344 views?
Because no one could stand the loud music.
i make a point to stop and make a stop at igloo city every time i go from fbx to anc. it's like a ritual of some sorts.
+atlas obscura song IDs for basically this whole video but especially during the dude reading the poem about the tower?
@atlas obscura
Way Better version :) Very nice video!
Thanks for doing my home state! I miss it dearly, but not the snow.
You're welcome! Yes, we can imagine the snow would be a bit tricky to navigate in winter! But must be lovely watching from indoors.
Ive flown over so many times but I’ve never known what it was
Would you please edit this to reduce the music loudness then re-upload? I can't listen to this. :-(
Put the Captions on guys ..
Appreciate yah ..!
Washington state. It seems mysterious and like it has a lot of natural space. I'm sure there are probably some obscure stories there.
would have loved to watch, but the music gave me headaches =(
Nebraska
I'd love it if you guys would do my home state of Michigan!
Thanks for letting us know! Anything in particular you'd like us to check out?
@@atlasobscura Perhaps even expand it to the North American boreal forest and Great Lakes. Beautiful areas.
@@kamoooosa Sign us up, we'd love to go trekking around that area!
@@atlasobscura Picture Rocks area would be fabulous!
@@atlasobscura Lakenland, for sure! Also the End of the World, and there's a park full of concrete dinosaurs somewhere near Alpena, I think.
Who saw fit to choose that music. Totally mood-clashes with the subjects, loudly.
TURN THE MUSIC DOWN! It's too bloody LOUD!
No joy watching this. Grrrrrrr
The music is too loud, one can not hear a word he says.
Yeesh does no one listen to the mix before you post? I can't hear anything people are saying over the music.

Wants it to stand 1000 years. Builds it out of wood. 🤦🏻♂️
there are ancient buildings still standing in Japan made of wood that are well over 2000 years old. wood only rots when exposed to the elements.
@@yardfowl3149 YES good thing there are no elements in Alaska
@@googiegress exposed....key word
@@yardfowl3149 lolwut, you might want to rewatch that footage, because if it's the same footage I watched, that structure ain't seeing 100 intact.
