@@BatonPassGaming I wouldn't be surprised if Konami was just trolling. Some game companies just like trolling their fans. A good example is SNK and the absence of K9999 from the King of Fighters. SNK went so far that when they remade KOF2002 they made a new character to replace him, all novelizations avoided mentioning him directly, his entry in the series data book has his design blacked out and redacted, and numerous SNK employees would say "K○○○○ who?" When asked on twitter. The character finally returned in KoFXV under a new name but they officially confirmed he's the same character in game. They did all that just for lore for a fighting game and trolling for 20 years.

The theory about Air Neos plagiarizing a super hero is a bit weak to me, since all Hero monsters are in some way or other inspired by Superheroes (Contrast is literally a Kamen Rider, but it never got in trouble).
If they went after cards for being based on Kamen Riders, then all the Masked Heroes and Inzektors would have been poofed out of existance too but yet they're still here, same with the Super Quants and their basis off of super sentai, or the Kaiju cards being based on.....Kaijus, so it is a real weak answer to say air neos got the can for being based on a superhero.

I can definitely see them bringing back air neos when they eventually inevitably retrain the original Neo Spacians and their respective fusions, but who knows when that will be and even then I’m just happy that Neos specifically is getting a lot of support in POTE
i think they should retrain all the neo spacians and have them take on a more Ultraman vibe and call them Spacian Heros or Neo Spacian Heros and remove the elemental hero Name and just go with "Neos" for E hero Neos fusions
my personal headcanon is that they hired a freelancer artist who couldn't finish the artwork in time/had other reasons and got help from a friend that helped on the artwork without telling them that they will make money with the artwork and after they found out about it, since they techinically hold part of the copyright they just screwed with konami probably out of spite or something

It’s more weighted in the favor of the company, but also in this scenario you’re making there would be a contract with the initial freelancer but not one with the friend. That probably means the friend would be the one in the wrong if there was a claim, not Konami. Idk, possible I suppose just doesn’t seem likely.

As someone who has worked in the legal field (and with the hindsight of this video being a year old and still no reprint) I think it is safe to say their is some sort of legal issue (copyright related most likely) that we won’t see a reprint any time soon. The fact that they won’t even put him in a magic card’s artwork or allow him in a video game is evidence enough. Normally this occurs when there is some sort of trademark issue with a subject. This occurs in music all the time when an artist’s music sounds very close to another’s music. The original holder of the copyright can challenge the new music’s originality and if it is proven to be a copy (or close enough) then the original holder can get concessions. A lot of times this comes in the form of getting a majority of the profit from the song and when this happens the losing artist normally just stops selling their music because they can’t profit from it anymore. This in turn puts that piece of music in Limbo or Narnia forever.
I convinced myself that Air Neos was going to be a Starlight Rare in POTE, but it has not come to pass. I think you're probably right about it being another legal/rights issue that we're likely never going to find out, at least through official channels.

Iirc, there’s another video out there talking about why Air Neos hasn’t been reprinted. The biggest reason was because his design is VERY similar to a Japanese Hero from an anime/TV Show. The name escapes me but they were incredibly similar and it could be a huge copyright infringement that Konami/Shueshia just doesn’t want to deal with.

Because My theory is if the kids of japan see this cards and recognize them as references to the toku shows, it might encourage cross sales of the tokusatsu merch. but then silly theory on my end.

They didn't remove Air Neos and then sneakily put him back in to hint at something to come, they purposefully hid him where he's just visible so as to deny anything's wrong. It's still the imagine from the opening, Air Neos is just getting Mike Wazowski'd; there's no conspiracy, some card just wasn't reprinted, everything is normal, believe us. I think it's something related to the IP of Air Neos itself. So they can't reprint/ retrain it with a new artwork because it's something wrong with the 'character' itself. What that might be I'm not sure, but it sounds like the exact kind of corporate bs that would cause this kerfuffle.

Another fun fact: Air Neos's Italian name, when translated back to English is "Elemental HERO Grand Neos". In Italian the name is "Neos Grandioso EROE Elementale", where "Grandioso" is the same adjective (barring conjugation) used in Grand Mole ("Grandiosa Talpa Neo-Spaziale"). What is known in English as Grand Neos is called in Italian "Elemental HERO Great Neos" instad. This has to do with the fact that in Italian, Air Hummingbird has been translated as "Colibrì Neo-Spaziale" (Neo-Spacian Hummingbird), without any adjectvie, so the normal naming scheme couldn't be followed for this Fusion. (All Fusions between Neos and 1 Neo-Spacian have the name "Elemental HERO [Adjective from the Neo-Spacian form] Neos")
It is interesting that concerns about the artwork would be considered thanks to instant contact not only because Air Neos is missing but also because it was NOT directly lifted from the intro. If you look closely, that scene from the intro IS clearly being copied but aesthetician changes have been made. All of the helmets have been altered in shape or design with some being more drastic than others. Also a lot of the adorning jewelry and armor has had changes to the shapes/designs and even some of the body parts have had significant alterations like Neos' head, Neos' wings and all of their chests/shoulders. It may be just considered an update for the new card but if there is any truth to copyright issues this may make sense as well. If the artist responsible was also the one who designed the OTHER neos fusions a certain percentage of difference could be required for the legal use of the characters to be considered discriminently different enough. Air Neos may have been too close in design to something for small changes to feasibly work while yhe others had to have these redesigns. It also would make sense they would use the opening scene for this as it not only could act as fan service but is a great way to gather all the changes together for a quick side by side comparison in one picture. It ensures the perosn redesigning has an easier time, the changes are easier to display and fans will see it as a nod to the show.
I might be wrong about this, but if you look at the background of it, it features a light ball with a black circle and point. I believe there is a card in a different card game that had a striking similarity to that background. So maybe, the issue was the same as with Red Lobster.

I remember thinking Dove made both chocolate and soap but they allow each other to coexist despite having the same name. I usually think konami is pretty calculating about their plans and what they release in what set, what the metas gonna turn into, what cards will be valued at etc but this time I think the best theory is that they just forgot about air neos. Hell i forgot about it too. They are probably gonna just turn a negative into a positive by flaunting it in the new hero set as you mentioned. Most of all hopefully they'll give it a nice rarity to make it up to the hardcore air neos fans.
They could just make a card lore out of it, like becoming corrupted by darkness or being consumed by some cosmic energy or something (they would censor him out in the cards, more like making him look like a shilouette with green eyes) turning him into celestial air neos with a completely new design, or give his standard design a new form like they do with newer elemental hero monsters
Italian here. So, for the Neos Air company. First, I actually never heard of it before this video, but a quick search reveals that it was founded in 2001, but flies in the USA only since 2021 and doesn't fly in Japan, so I don't think it would be known, let alone be a concern. Plus, I don't know how copyright works in the USA or in Japan, but I can say that for our own laws, there would be no copyright claim possible for the use of the name for a card, because the card's name isn't another brand and even if it was, it doesn't cover a product in competition with the airline. It maybe would be an issue if the airline brand would be a registered and notorious brand, which I highly doubt is the case. But then again, Air Neos is a card name, not a brand in itself, so this law shouldn't even apply. I doubt Konami would have faced problems with that.
I heard konami never owned air neos and it was designed by one of the employer who worked at them but when they left the company they took credit for air neos and owning the design, leaving konami with no choice but to leave air neos behind

Plus it's standard practice especially among big corporations to make all work you produce owned by the company, which would mean the Air Neos art would also belong to the company. Why would one employee not have such a clause when it's perfectly standard? If it wasn't standard, we'd see similar issues crop up all the time whenever an artist leaves.

I think it's either an artist issue or the BEHAVIOUR of the artist. And are very tight lipped on it because Japan has alot of cultural differences and I think it's due to that. And it can't be changed due to its spotlight in the anime and cover card status
the effect is so OP in masterduel. what if the life point difference is over 5000. then this card can gain attack up to 7900 or more if your life points are 100 and your opponents life points are 8000 or more.
they didnt want to change it. another countries had “neos air” and “air neos” printed on the card. reason why the Artist of the Art Work got blacklisted, because of bad work. if that would be a case It can depending on TV Tokyo maybe not giving the rights to Konami to reprint air neos for ever! feel like because of the Anime, they never wanted to make a new art work for air neos, because air neos was one of the most used elemental hero fusions by Jaden. it's not banned, the card's just not very good and hero decks have way too much in their extra to even consider taking up a slot with something they will never use outside of an extremely niche otk that can be outdone by just summoning a bunch of fusions anyways
Konami hide there artists right. Prehaps they used this card art but the artist didnt submit it as official, or later didnt allow them to use it after a bad break up or something
This is my theory. Carly’s voice actor in Japan for 5ds was removed due to a cult. What if that person or someone related made air neos. They wouldn’t want the backlash to come back so they would just not release it later on. It also explains why it wasent in legendary collection cos she was removed prior to that collections release

Exactly, Air Neos isn't even the most obvious. If he's pulled, then base Neos should've as well due to the obvious Ultra Man motifs.

Another fun fact: Air Neos's Italian name, when translated back to English is "Elemental HERO Grand Neos".
In Italian the name is "Neos Grandioso EROE Elementale", where "Grandioso" is the same adjective (barring conjugation) used in Grand Mole ("Grandiosa Talpa Neo-Spaziale").
What is known in English as Grand Neos is called in Italian "Elemental HERO Great Neos" instad.
This has to do with the fact that in Italian, Air Hummingbird has been translated as "Colibrì Neo-Spaziale" (Neo-Spacian Hummingbird), without any adjectvie, so the normal naming scheme couldn't be followed for this Fusion. (All Fusions between Neos and 1 Neo-Spacian have the name "Elemental HERO [Adjective from the Neo-Spacian form] Neos")
They really couldn't have gone with "Vento Colibri Neo-Spaziale" for Air Hummingbird and thus "Neos Vento EROE Elementale" for Air Neos?
It is interesting that concerns about the artwork would be considered thanks to instant contact not only because Air Neos is missing but also because it was NOT directly lifted from the intro. If you look closely, that scene from the intro IS clearly being copied but aesthetician changes have been made. All of the helmets have been altered in shape or design with some being more drastic than others. Also a lot of the adorning jewelry and armor has had changes to the shapes/designs and even some of the body parts have had significant alterations like Neos' head, Neos' wings and all of their chests/shoulders. It may be just considered an update for the new card but if there is any truth to copyright issues this may make sense as well. If the artist responsible was also the one who designed the OTHER neos fusions a certain percentage of difference could be required for the legal use of the characters to be considered discriminently different enough. Air Neos may have been too close in design to something for small changes to feasibly work while yhe others had to have these redesigns. It also would make sense they would use the opening scene for this as it not only could act as fan service but is a great way to gather all the changes together for a quick side by side comparison in one picture. It ensures the perosn redesigning has an easier time, the changes are easier to display and fans will see it as a nod to the show.
I might be wrong about this, but if you look at the background of it, it features a light ball with a black circle and point. I believe there is a card in a different card game that had a striking similarity to that background. So maybe, the issue was the same as with Red Lobster.

I remember thinking Dove made both chocolate and soap but they allow each other to coexist despite having the same name. I usually think konami is pretty calculating about their plans and what they release in what set, what the metas gonna turn into, what cards will be valued at etc but this time I think the best theory is that they just forgot about air neos. Hell i forgot about it too. They are probably gonna just turn a negative into a positive by flaunting it in the new hero set as you mentioned. Most of all hopefully they'll give it a nice rarity to make it up to the hardcore air neos fans.
They could just make a card lore out of it, like becoming corrupted by darkness or being consumed by some cosmic energy or something (they would censor him out in the cards, more like making him look like a shilouette with green eyes) turning him into celestial air neos with a completely new design, or give his standard design a new form like they do with newer elemental hero monsters

Italian here. So, for the Neos Air company. First, I actually never heard of it before this video, but a quick search reveals that it was founded in 2001, but flies in the USA only since 2021 and doesn't fly in Japan, so I don't think it would be known, let alone be a concern. Plus, I don't know how copyright works in the USA or in Japan, but I can say that for our own laws, there would be no copyright claim possible for the use of the name for a card, because the card's name isn't another brand and even if it was, it doesn't cover a product in competition with the airline. It maybe would be an issue if the airline brand would be a registered and notorious brand, which I highly doubt is the case. But then again, Air Neos is a card name, not a brand in itself, so this law shouldn't even apply. I doubt Konami would have faced problems with that.

I heard konami never owned air neos and it was designed by one of the employer who worked at them but when they left the company they took credit for air neos and owning the design, leaving konami with no choice but to leave air neos behind

Plus it's standard practice especially among big corporations to make all work you produce owned by the company, which would mean the Air Neos art would also belong to the company. Why would one employee not have such a clause when it's perfectly standard? If it wasn't standard, we'd see similar issues crop up all the time whenever an artist leaves.

I think it's either an artist issue or the BEHAVIOUR of the artist. And are very tight lipped on it because Japan has alot of cultural differences and I think it's due to that. And it can't be changed due to its spotlight in the anime and cover card status

they didnt want to change it. another countries had “neos air” and “air neos” printed on the card. reason why the Artist of the Art Work got blacklisted, because of bad work. if that would be a case It can depending on TV Tokyo maybe not giving the rights to Konami to reprint air neos for ever!

it's not banned, the card's just not very good and hero decks have way too much in their extra to even consider taking up a slot with something they will never use outside of an extremely niche otk that can be outdone by just summoning a bunch of fusions anyways

This is my theory. Carly’s voice actor in Japan for 5ds was removed due to a cult. What if that person or someone related made air neos. They wouldn’t want the backlash to come back so they would just not release it later on. It also explains why it wasent in legendary collection cos she was removed prior to that collections release
