Chile Farming - America's Heartland

- Mild, medium, and hot are three words describing the farming focus for Arizona grower Ed Curry. That's because Ed has extensive acreage devoted entirely to chile peppers. Visit Curry Farms in Pearce, Arizona, and you'll see how Ed has been developing and growing chile varieties for more than thirty years.
I have a high respect for the American farmer. you are always innovative.
I used to drive the Southern Arizona roads quite a bit many years ago. One of my most favorite memories are driving through the area close to Douglas, Az. and the breathing in the rich aromas of the chili pepper fields. It was as rich as the intense aroma of Orange Groves. But much more mouth watering producing. Thank you for you video it was well done and brought back many good memories. But you should have mentioned just how great it smelled. Keep up the good work.
Two years later from my last comment and rereading my comment and researching flooded my mind again with it all. I whole hearted my agree with everything and reaffirm it all.
I want to experience that

irrigation+rainfall = evaporation + transpiration + runoff + leaching
Which one of these processes do Farmers really have control over during the growing season? If you have the ability to irrigate your sandy soils and water is cheap and plentiful, then you are fortunate and have some control on the left side of the equation. If you do not have irrigation, you must look at the factors on the right side of the equation to see what can be controlled or minimized to benefit your crop. Evaporation from the soil surface can be reduced with mulch or leaving crop residue on the soil surface. Transpiration is a function of the plant leaf surface area and the weather. Runoff is or should be minimal in sandy textured soils with high percolation rates.
This leaves the leaching of water out of the root zone as the #1 controllable loss of moisture to your crop. Interrupting the downward movement of moisture in your soil by installing a "smart" barrier can greatly reduce the leaching of water and nutrients. SWRT subsurface membranes detain/retain up to 90% of irrigation or rainfall in the root zone for crop use by disrupting the gravitational movement of water in the soil while still allowing excess water to percolate and do not create anaerobic soil conditions.
how to apply work farmig
Hi, from nigeria. How much do you sell your seeds and how can i get them.
Howdy Chilli Ed!! ;))
great story but honestly stop the puns for god sake.
hi mr. curry how r u? my name is mark roberts, i got a question for you about crossing peppers . i was thinking of trying to cross a reaper with a jalapeno, and call it a jalapareaper, ( hell of a reaper) lol. do you think it's possible to cross them? your friend from long lane missouri.
mark joe You should have no problem crossing those. One is an Annuum and one is a Chinense which cross fairly well. Try it with at least 10 flowers though.
very nice

"This is a Scotch bonnet, or habanero..." "We judge how hot it is by how far (the 'oil') goes."
Shouldn't he know more about his product?
I thought this too, man. And a Fresno is not a red Jalapeno.
Nice
l love Chile fungafonua okay
It's odd... there's also Ed Currie, another famous pepper grower. (Carolina reapers...)
My neighbor is a farmer, his wife has two large green houses plus three quarters of an acre in a field by my house when she grows these and datil peppers. She is getting $20 a pound for the reapers and has a 4000 lb contract.
She sure got some hot puns....
okay*
there is only one Ed Curie, he owns Pucker Butt Pepper Company in South Carolina and is the creator of the Carolina Reaper
Grow up. There's probably ten thousand Ed Curry's in the USA alone.
Jd Atkinson funny coincidence. i was waiting for them to show the reapers. Then i remembered ed looks more like a hippie then a cowboy
At least this Ed isn't a liar and a thief.
Chili translate to Indonesian language Cabe, Lombok...in Indonesian any people have farm...
