I don’t hate crossovers I just don’t have a great rope for them and don’t really want to buy another piece of gear just to do them. For some reason my gym doesn’t have anything other than speed ropes too
You can definitely do them with a speed rope (not RPM style), it's just a little more difficult. If you wanted a usable and cheap rope, you could just get a licorice style rope.

I have a drag rope and it’s fun to use that for the single crossovers. But definitely having a heavier rope for crossovers is best for them.
