The Bee Gees took so much grief for ‘going disco’ but they made wonderful music their whole career- so poo on those who dissed them. I even enjoyed them in the St. Peppers movie with all the other musicians.
Respectfully and politely... well, duh!!!!!! No one even comes close. Vocally, only Karen Carpenter's spiritual vocals, to my ears, exceed the stunning talent of Barry and the brothers Gibb. As Harri says, diamonds in my ears.
This is definitely one of my favorite Bee Gee's songs. The lyrics are gorgeous. Such a way of putting words into a beautiful break-up song. Fanny(Be Tender) is another one of my favorites too.
I was born in 1962 so I know good music. I feel I grew up with the greatest artist ever born and trust me, my favorite The Bee Gees were at the top. I dont believe I will ever see anyone or group top the takent they had..
It's News Years day2023 and I'm listening to your channel for the first time. There will never be another sibling singing trio like the BeeGees. Their music 🎶🎶 will stand the test of time.
If you search up Barry discussing his falsetto voice on UA-cam, you'll see that it's completely effortless for him to go straight into it from his speaking voice. It's pretty amazing.
I can see you are mesmerized by the soft falsetto, the song on the flip side 'You Stepped Into My Life' is as good as this one with an astonishing falsetto too.
Yall had to be there during those years when Bee Gees set the radio on fire 🔥 That's all there was back then, we poor people had radio, and antenna TV or buying records, Love So Right in that moment in time was my glory days and all was right with world, ❤
One of my favorite bands of all time. The Commodores owed their success to Lionel Richie, yet resented that he got the majority of the acclaim. So it was with Robin resenting Barry. Barry, then Robin & Maurice, who were twins, & then don't forget Andy Gibb. BARRY wrote the hits for Andy's career...I just wanna be your everything, Love is thicker than water, & Shadow Dancing. Robin left the band & tried to go solo, but only 1 song was worth mentioning. While he was gone, Barry & Maurice put out an album with three. hits...First of May. Tomorrow. I.O.I.O. Barry also wrote hits for other artists...especially with Barbara Streisand...what kind of fool, guilty, & woman in love. All 3 were smash hits. Also Islands in the stream...for Kenny Rogers...Words for Rita Coolidge...Heartbreaker for Dionne Warwick. I was a kid when the Main Course album came out...Nights on Broadway, Jive Talking, Fanny be tender, etc. I've got tons more I could say, but I'll stop.
This song is ok in my opinion, but even their just ok songs are still really good! The harmonies get you every time! If it’s the BeeGees I’ll always listen!
Put it on repeat Carolyn. It’s really one of their best, hiding away a bit in ‘76 before the brothers hit it big but with that 24K sure fire melodic ability they had. It’s gorgeous, up there with their very best, a great song.
Just my own observation; an opinion not shared by all..and I am a huge Bee Gees fan: I love Robin's voice, but find I can't take a steady diet of it. It's kind of like icing on the cake..so sweet you can't take too much at once. But Barry's voice, well I listen to the Bee Gees daily. There's a reason for that. I love both Barry's falsetto and chest voice. Then put the three brothers together and it's just amazing and wonderful. "For Whom the Bell Tolls", features Robin at his best. I particularly love the one where they are singing outside in New York. The echoes in that version..wow. So special. I cannot say enough about these guys. ❤
Completely agree & you explained how I've always felt about Robin's voice. I can listen to some leads by him, then I've had enough.....but could listen to Barry all day! In another comment, someone explained Robin's voice as sounding a little like Tiny Tim....which is true.🎶
Agree with you about Robin’s voice and Barry’s voice. I can listen to the Bee Gees every day because of Barry’s voice, too. Yeah, Robin’s voice can be too much. At times it also becomes harsh, when the vibrato is too quick. I always say Robin’s voice is best in small doses. Barry’s voice is more commercial. Barry’s voice, no matter what era, has this tone and sweetness that just does it for me, as well as an equally unique and distinct vibrato that is different from Robin’s. Most of the time they all use their voices in just the right places, and that’s what makes perfection.
Weren't they fabulous? I had all their albums. It warms my heart to watch others listening for the first time. And I must admit, I'm often envious. I remember hearing so many classics for the first time. Music makes for a long memory, doesn't it?
I still have all my Bee Gees albums. Two of them were imported from Australia in the 70s and titled "The Australian Recording Sessions". Those two have never been opened and are collectors items. The rest of my albums have been played thousands of times!!❤
The break up was in 1969 when they were very young and what they call first fame. Egos and as Maurice put it lack of maturity. But came back together 15/18 months later. Falsetto not fully discovered to this degree til 1975 Nights on Broadway. Barry said Robin wanted hits more than anything and kept saying use that voice we are having hits.
Never get tired listening to this song..The instruments are beautiful in the background. And only Barry can pull this off with his falsetto then those harmonies are icing on the cake.. Favorite part has to be Barry just doing his thing..
"Love So Right" was a No. 3 pop hit in the U.S. and No. 2 in Canada and No. 1 in Brazil. Looks like it didn't chart and/or wasn't released for sale or to radio as a single in the U.K. It is from their 1976 album "Children of the World," which also contained the hit "You Should Be Dancing" (No. 1 pop in U.S. and Canada, No. 5 in U.K.).
I was born in 67... fortunate enough to grow up with bee gees...I love so many tunes of theirs... incredible talent....but this jam is in my top 3 for sure.... if this song doesn't move u...need to take a soul check!! Peace
I sang this as a throw-in at a concert the jazz band was having in high school. I'm sure no one could relate to a skinny little 17-year-old singing about such an adult subject. Oy... High school was a nightmare. but I love this song and album.
They dont have really any "bad songs" even their ones that weren't hits are more genius than anything else being cranked out today..give me Bee Gees all day all night.
Our guys never disappointed us throughout all the decades of incredible music they created. And, yes, Robin left the group in 1969 for the very reason you stated. His song "Lamplight" was relegated to the "B" side of Barry's "First of May" and Robin had just had enough at that point feeling like he was being pushed aside for Barry. They admitted afterwards that they all shared some of the blame for what had happened and actually came to the conclusion that it probably was all for the best since they broke up as boys and came back together as men. Their fame and fortune had gotten the best of them and it took this separation to get their egos back down to earth. Robin's leads virtually disappeared when Barry's falsetto came on the scene and it might look like they were back at it but the brothers never parted ways again. Robin, however, never got back to singing the amount of leads he had sung from the late 60's to the early 70's and that's such a shame. The disco era changed everything and, in my opinion, not for the better. Robin's soulful leads were few and far between post disco and were all beautiful when he did get to sing but at least those three part harmonies stood the test of time and our guys created beautiful music together for the rest of their careers.
I remember also that Robin really wanted hit records and was very happy that their songs were doing so well in the 70s - Barry has said they were all encouraging him to continue using the falsetto. Also, I believe that the rule was that if you brought the song idea in, you got the lead. Songwriting wise, especially in the 70s, Barry was on fire! ;)
@@sallyhallada You are exactly right. Robin wanted hits and Barry’s falsetto was delivering them in spades. So why mess with a good thing. That being said, I did miss the Robin’s unique voice during that period. I was happy when he decided to release solo material during the early 80s when they were on a bit of a hiatus. IMO the three albums (produced by Maurice) he recorded during that time are very underrated.
'Lamplight' is cited as the catalyst for their breakup; but, truthfully, after listening to both, 'First of May' blows 'Lamplight' totally out of the water & is the better song. I'm sure tensions had been building for quite a while & Robin was looking for any chance at all to leave; but, even Robin must've known Stigwood's selection was a sound business decision.
I just love this song. I’m a big Bee Gees fan but I think this song is just beautiful. I believe it’s the first ballad Barry did in falsetto the entire song.
It was a Great time growing up with Bee Gees and all the musicians who performed. Our time was spent going to concerts, discos and rock and roll bars and no we didn't want labels put on us. They started in the 60's. The brothers discussed who wanted to do the faseto. All three could.
Love the Bee Gees the greatest group ever. They are truly talented. He does sing this in a very high falsetto. This is a beautiful song. Great reaction Harri..
They had their falling out for a year and a half-- Barry sang in his chest voice(normal voice)then BEFORE 1976, when Barry discovered his falsetto. [Correction: the falsetto formally appeared in 1975, but "Love So Right" was released in 1976] The break-up was from 1969 to 1970 because Robin thought management made some decisions in favor of Barry as a frontman and the "last straw was when Barry's song "First of May" was chosen as the A side for the release single over Robin's lead song, which was the B side. Both Barry and Robin have repeatedly attributed the break-up to "first fame," youthful egos, and immaturity. They missed each other too much to stay solo. Maurice was the communication go-between during the split. To continue what I posted earlier, might I also say that Barry was encouraged to use the falsetto for a couple of their albums because the Bee Gee's new sound was getting them hits in the late 1970's---1980. All three could sing falsetto and did during this period. In the late 1980's and on, the falsetto seldom appeared as prominently in their new music.
@@juliemnm8273 Thanks! Caught my error-- I had 1976 in my head for the release of that song and brain didn't switch "gears" to 1975. Old brain cells here.
Hi Harri, Love your channel (subscribed). This song is so beautiful; may cause goose bumps, excessive perspiration, fainting, and tears. (Commonly referred to as the "Barry Effect")😂 Barry doesn't sound like a female to me. He sounds like the R&B groups of the 60's and 70's who often sang falsetto--the Delfonics, Stylistics (Russell Thompkins), Blue Magic, Moments (aka Ray, Goodman, and Brown), the Temptations (Eddie Kendricks). Check out some of these groups and you will hear a similar sound. Barry, however, is the master IMHO. Love me some BeeGees. In my head, I'm married to Barry. LOL ❤❤
The harmonies are something else, masters, next to Barry’s amazing falsettos, just getting goosebumps as I you hear them for the first time!! Wished the other ones were still alive!!
These guys put it all together. Sheer talent, performance ability, composing, harmonies, hit after hit. They could be considered one of the top ten continuous music acts of the past century and deservedly so. All of their varied incarnations were pleasing and superior. You would be hard pressed to find any others in the same category, perhaps the Beatles, the Stones, the Who, Stevie Wonder and Brian Wilson.
@@tonyrappa4611 Loved Zeppelin and would have included them however, they were together only 12 years until 1980, and since then have played 5 gigs. So they weren't 'continuous. I would have included them like I did the Beatles if they had all continued with separate careers. Plant is really the only one doing so and his style with Krauss is decidedly different. Same reason i didn't include the Kinks.
I've never heard this Bee Gee song but its lovely!!!! You know Michael Jackson and Barry were best friends and Michael was the Godfather of his first born Michael Gibb ... There is a rare video of MJ and Barry singing that was never released by MJ but Barry released it was them in the studio! Sadly Barry being the only brother living as he lost the twins and too earlier on lost Andy Gibb who died very young and had his own singing career He sounded so much like Barry! Anyway Barry said it was so sad that when each brother passed they were not getting along before they passed on and it was heartbreaking! That is so so SAD! Barry made an album a couple of years ago with Country Artists that He was friends with its a beautiful album!!!!!! He had said He was tired of doing what everyone thought he should do and He always wanted to do a country album!!!!!!
One of my favorite BeeGees songs. His falsetto is unmatched. And back then, Robin also still sang falsetto. He stopped later on, which was especially noticeable in live versions of songs like You Should Be Dancing etc. In Reaching Out (1979) I think Barry may even have reached greater heights with his falsetto ua-cam.com/video/vfHUS5Mf00Q/v-deo.html
You should check out the song Living Together from Spirits Having Flown. It showcases both Barry and Robin’s falsettos, combined with Barry’s natural voice and then Maurice comes in to complete their impeccable three part harmony. Nobody does it better.
Hi Harri, Thank you for reacting to one of my favorite Bee Gees songs.. Yes, Barry was superb in hitting those high falsetto notes. He has a couple of other songs that are just as high. Stop Think Again and Reaching Out come to mind. I think many can relate to the message in the song. How a " Love So Right" could turn out to be so wrong. I know I can. Thanks for choosing this song.
For all the dynamic vocals you also have to give credit to the orchestration..I mean really,,this is s perfect fusion of lyrics amd melody. This tune and "Fanny' share that same magic formula. The Bee Gee's are just Stellar. There doesn't seem to be any strain or effort involved...the transition of baritone to falsetta is just surreal...and beautiful. While it is not really feminine gender sounding...more frankie valli...or stylistics thompson sounding. All to be admired. This tune is just timeless...thanks for the cretique.....Nice!!
Patty-There were other issues beyond the falsetto. Both Barry and Robin had strong personalities, which doesn't always work. He felt that Barry was getting more attention and he was being left out. Barry said on later interviews that Robin wasn't getting his due and he should have. He deserved more. But if it hadn't worked out that way, we wouldn't have songs like Juliet, Secret Agent, Like a Fool and Boys Do Fall In Love. In that song, Robin goes towards the bottom of his register and sounds like another person. Check those songs out. I think you'll like them.
No, the break up was way before this….was end of the 60’s and part of 1970. They falsetto was paying off commercially and Robin was all about having the hits…so Robin, Mo, their management and the record execs all said they wanted the falsetto. Barry said he was having a blast with it until folks got tired of it and “disco” era music. This was mid 70’s. After the short break-up, they came back together in 1970 and wrote “lonely days” and “How can you mend a broken heart”. Robin left for a while ( in ‘69) but Barry and Mo continued to write and record. They did a TV special called Cucumber Castle. ( there is an album of the same name). When Robin came back, he said it was just no fun on his own. Barry missed having his brothers all together as well. Mo said in an interview that Barry was very protective, compassionate and loving. He was always trying to be the big brother ( which he was), but it didn’t always go down so well with Robin especially.
To have listen to the Audio live version “At the Forum 1976 Los Angeles“ there’s only one clip of it on UA-cam and it’s even better than this studio version , the backend of that version is different to this version…smooth as you like.🔥
The reason they split they all agreed later it was merely juvenile jealousy. & Robin & Barry started getting big headed about it. Robin admitted just after they got back together that he missed his brothers too much. Also, their sister Lesley started standing in for Robin, to make the three some. Then Robin came back & she dropped out again.
Great harmonies and that Barry falsetto. One of their best songs after all their Saturday Night Fever Album smash hits. This song made it to #3 on the US Billboard 100. #2 in Canada. #1 in Brazil. Only got up to # 41 in the UK. Wow. Great choice. 👍🙃🕊️💟🇺🇸🇨🇦🔥🌏
The Bee Gees took so much grief for ‘going disco’ but they made wonderful music their whole career- so poo on those who dissed them. I even enjoyed them in the St. Peppers movie with all the other musicians.

The Bee Gees are their own category of music. They walk amongst the greats in pop music history.
Barry Gibb is Mother Nature's Masterpiece!!!!

They considered their music R&B. They have had success for 4 decades!
The Bee Gees, in my opinion, were the best songwriters and singers of harmony. I doubt there will ever be another group or person like them.
Respectfully and politely... well, duh!!!!!! No one even comes close. Vocally, only Karen Carpenter's spiritual vocals, to my ears, exceed the stunning talent of Barry and the brothers Gibb. As Harri says, diamonds in my ears.
The 70s: the best decade in Music history. To me, by far. Another example of the supreme talent that was on display in this era.
This is definitely one of my favorite Bee Gee's songs. The lyrics are gorgeous. Such a way of putting words into a beautiful break-up song. Fanny(Be Tender) is another one of my favorites too.

My two favorites :)
Another beautiful song is Fanny Be Tender With My Love. More great harmonies.
Barry said even Robin encouraged him to keep the falsetto and lead because he liked stardom as much as anyone
They are wonderful. I love this song." I thought you came forever, but you came to break my heart" what a line!

In 1975 they recorded Jive talkin, & Fannie be Tender as he was singing falsetto then....
All 3 sang falsetto but Barry was the only one that could sustain the falsetto throughout a whole song.
@@juliemnm8273 Yes, Main Course album was released in 1975.
@@juliemnm8273 Thanks! Caught my error-- I had 1976 in my head for the release of that song and brain didn't switch "gears" to 1975. Old brain cells here.
I heard this back in the day and bought the 45. I killed it playing it.😁
In Brazil, it was a big hit! Love it. One of my favorites!
Hi Harri,
Love your channel (subscribed).
LOL ❤❤
I agree. There’s nothing female in his voice.
Amazing song!!! 💕
Just so RIGHT!! 😊
Check out Barry's falcetto in the song "Reaching Out".
Led Zeppelin
@@tonyrappa4611 Loved Zeppelin and would have included them however, they were together only 12 years until 1980, and since then have played 5 gigs. So they weren't 'continuous. I would have included them like I did the Beatles if they had all continued with separate careers. Plant is really the only one doing so and his style with Krauss is decidedly different. Same reason i didn't include the Kinks.
Man I forgot about this song. I haven't heard it for years. Thanks. That was a nice treat.
My favorite Bee Gees Song!! I lived this song late 70's
Live the bee gees they have fanastic songs
This is just about as good as a song they sing..in other words this is a great song..all there songs are great!!
I read somewhere that Robin loved the falsetto. So Barry did it longer than he might have.
Love this song by the Bee Gee's....This came right before their Saturday Night Fever soundtrack came out.
You should check out the song Living Together from Spirits Having Flown. It showcases both Barry and Robin’s falsettos, combined with Barry’s natural voice and then Maurice comes in to complete their impeccable three part harmony. Nobody does it better.
This is from Children of the World….great album! Of course they all are!
This song was on the Children of the World album.
Go and listen to my world -bee gees
Hi Harri, Thank you for reacting to one of my favorite Bee Gees songs.. Yes, Barry was superb in hitting those high falsetto notes. He has a couple of other songs that are just as high. Stop Think Again and Reaching Out come to mind.
I think many can relate to the message in the song. How a " Love So Right" could turn out to be so wrong. I know I can. Thanks for choosing this song.
Check out "Stop (Think Again)"
This song was recorded by SO many artists it's hard to say who was the first.
The Bee Gees were the first as they wrote it!😄
You’re respect for the artists you react to is wonderful. Love your channel!
Great song
Harri ! Thank You for reacting to one of my favorite Bee Gees songs ever! I love ❤️ your channel! Long live to you🥰☮️
"...what pants he was wearing that day." 😄
Great reaction!!! I'm glad I just subscribed. Barry's falsetto is insane!!!
The "B"s" n "G's" really have their "shite" together brother...such sweet n mello sounds Ty brother for this
No, the break up was way before this….was end of the 60’s and part of 1970.
This and Main Course are my favorite of their albums.
