In the world of conservation biology, there's a remarkable and often overlooked kingdom of life that plays a vital role in our ecosystems - fungi. Fungi are instrumental in maintaining the balance of our natural world, yet they are, unsurprisingly, under-documented, which makes them especially vulnerable to the impacts of human activity and climate change.
To shed light on the importance of fungal conservation, North Spore had the privilege of sitting down with Gabriela D'Elia, the president of The Fungal Diversity Survey (FUNDIS). Gabriela is a passionate advocate and expert in the field of fungal conservation, and her work with FUNDIS represents a vital effort to protect and preserve these often misunderstood organisms. Join us as we explore the world of fungi and learn why their conservation is more critical than ever.
Special thanks to Gabriela D'Elia and the Fungal Diversity Survey! Find out how you can get involved with FUNDIS here: fundis.org/

I heard that one of the largest mushroom bed or rings on earth is on the West coast.
I went to a Telluride festival years ago. It was wonderful!

I just bought shiitake and oyster spawn from North Spore. Hoping to let them really thrive in this moist southern West Virginia environment.

I like growing lion's mane. I live in Bradford PA. I wish the local University of Pittsburgh at Bradford would make a mycology/ecology department. We have a lumber industry here and sooo much sawdust and we have coffee places here who just throw out their grounds ... and like ... we got the perfect climate for lion's mane ... so like ... I think Bradford PA could be just like Kennette Square PA if people knew more about mycology and if all the mycophobia in the area was replaced with like enthusiastic interest and passion.

It really depends on what you intend to grow, but the range with the most overlap is 60-70 F.
