- Oddworld Abe's Oddysee & Oddworld Abe's Exoddus Remastered Abe HD Mod team have released a public early version to try out the original Oddworld games with upscale backgrounds and astonishingly high quality sprites! Here's the first 20 minutes of gameplay for the first game. They've done speculator work! Try it for yourself and support the team from the links below:

Oddworld was created by Lorne Lanning who founded Oddworld Inhabitants which has produced many games, Including Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath and Oddworld: Soulstorm. I find the Oddworld lore fascination and hope to bring the Oddworld universe to life by telling the story of it and it's characters, creatures and locations so that they can be explained and theorised about by delving into Oddworld theory and the lore of the universe of the Oddworld games!

Hey Pup, thanks for the coverage! Really glad you're liking how it looks so far! And yep, more updates to come, though we're not sure exactly when. At the moment the instability of the engine is the main problem so we want to eventually move to using the main branch of relive rather than this (which is basically a hack, hence the instability). It's gonna take us a while to reformat the HD assets for that though and we're not sure exactly how to go about it, so it might be a while before that happens but hopefully this will tide everyone over until then.
If you support Abe HD, you support harassment group of people who see shaming type of harassment okay. I just got censored on their Discord server!
I really like the look of that remake it looks just like the game just more detailed
this looks incredible, its as if a PC version released alongside the original with enhanced graphics. Love it, the graphics really resemble the pre-rendered stuff and while it's still early it's super faithful and interesting so far.

Damn, this is incredible. I was looking into playing the originals myself but can’t bring myself to play without modern conveniences unfortunately. I yearn for a complete great remake like that dude did with the original Rayman (which I finished 100% unlike the original haha)
OWI should make this offcial. morph both games into one so soon as first game ends you go into next one and add little cosmetics here and there like a new n tasty voice pack toggle option for additional character voices

A faithful remaster of the two first games bundled with an easy to use level editor would be the last game I ever need.

I think there’s a clipping issue with the foreground props and the sprites. Aside from that it looks amazing
Yes, in Oddysee the foreground props aren't properly implemented yet, so we thought just to avoid big black squares all over the screen it would be better to just disable the foreground elements entirely for the pre-release.
Foreground should work properly in Exoddus tho

This comment is unrelated to the HD fan remaster, which is a nice effort but... there are things to be said.
The drama in the Oddworld community: I don't know how it started but I'm pretty sure many of us might recall the days in the unofficial Oddworld Forums, where some notorious folks were outright nasty with newcomers and people who couldn't speak proper English.
About what Kap said: seems like @ennayanne deleted his comment, I'm pretty curious to know why. Is there more to the story to add? What led this to happen?
The community is fragmented to the point we have two distinct factions, and it's so sad to see that despite Oddworld Inhabitants' best efforts (because I'm pretty sure they know what's going on) the situation is not changing.
Also, I want to give an advice: the modders themselves lamented that the project is going slow, quoting "the need of help". Is it perhaps related to the things I'm hearing about how the HD community itself is antagonizing and mocking people? Especially to those who have conditions? Is it in everyone's best interest to get along and get this mod done and working? So why acting like bullies only then to realize this will bite back? Why taking screenshots on Discord servers and then spreading them only to keep the hate on? Why turning down people when you clearly need help? There is a reason why I left the server. And the last straw? Being told in the official server to hack Soulstorm in order to get the "exclusive Xbox Vykker Labs content" instead of addressing the issue and telling OWI to please everyone (thus, helping them to regain some trust).
At the moment, I only know one side of the story. I'm still open to hear the other side of the story despite what happened. But, if I sense even a little bit of animosity, then the rumours are true, and I will firmly believe who is at fault here.
I feel, due to folks treatment behind the scenes, I can't watch vids related to this remaster. Least we forget, I worked on this, and was treated like slime after the first few days. Sure, there's something to be said about staying focussed, but once out of the work space, and into the local general server, they were not interested in other projects umless you were VERY special to them. I will never play this game, nor support them in any way. I'm with you, LoStraineiro. The Red vs Blue mentality is revolting, and having seen both sides, I think you and I are in the best place we can be. Safe from them.
@@Just-Plain-Potential the local server is not associated with the HD project. Nor is OWF. The HD project is a completely different project run by different people on a modified version of RELIVE whose original creator isn't even involved in

It's important to know that Abe HD is a separate project and the vast majority of both OWF and local server have zero involvement in this project, and the Abe HD team does not moderate either OWF or local. I don't even visit those servers more than once a month if that.

While this looks nice, part of the community behind this have been harassing me / my server with "conspiracy" shaming and demotivating my video making for last 2 years while spreading lies behind my back.
Edit: My message in their Abe HD Discord server got censored when i called them out and i got kicked out afterwards. These people are playing it "innocent."
Kap, people stopped liking you because you started turning into a COVID conspiracy nut and went crazy paranoid about everyone in the oddworld community. Not that I like bringing drama into the public eye, but you're asking for it by yet again slandering people who've done nothing to you.
