Philippines celebrates Holy week by travelling, gathering and eating. Lots of tourism to different islands too, including our beloved Siargao. It's Holy week this week and 1000's of tourists are already coming to the island, but they bring their trash with them also. So we really need a solution for this problem. Today we met with our good friend Sanne who runs the Nature Kids of Siargao NGO and we put our heads together to see how we can can fix the Siargao Recycling Art Studio. It was closed down due to lack of funds from an Electricity Transformer a year ago, but we are very close to being able to reopen the studio with a little help from you guys.
Please check out this link www.globalgivi... and if you are able, help us rebuild the recycling studio so can make a meaningful impact on the environment here. The studio will eventually be able to upcycle 1000 kg of plastic waste every month, and even give jobs and purpose to the local residents of this beautiful Philippines island.
You can also check out @NatureKidsofSiargao to see Sannes other efforts on the island ☺️

Done with my monthly contributions, thank you Jay and Sasha for saving the nature of Siargao island.
Sanne is amazing. A woman with a vision is an empowered woman.
She is inspiring
hope that government there fully support that advocate really great.
Thank you 8 Miles from Home for bringing attention to this non-profit. They are definitely doing great work for the island and its people. I donated a total of $115 USD. And I consider it money well spent. Thanks again for featuring Siargao Recycling Art Studio.
Sanne is an amazing person. Thank you for supporting her amazing projects!
I suggest Sunny tries to contact trade schools/TESDA that train students to do construction work/mechanical/electronic and see if they would wish to have their students do OJT there, while quickly repairing the building as well as properly set up the machineries. Maybe contact engineering schools as well as the Department of Tourism as well, because this is a clean up project that should benefit Siargao. If this succeeds, this may be a project that could be duplicated in other areas as well.
Nice to see Sanne collaborating with you in this noble project to keep Siargao's environment plastic trash-free,
I'm one of your avid followers and am grateful that you are supporting these groups that contribute to the development our beloved Philippines. We are extremely fortunate that you and your family have chosen our home to be your home.
Your big concerns for the betterment of the environment is super highly APPRECIATED MAAM SANNIE and 8 Miles From Home.
Thank you for partnering with Sanne. This is such a great project to save our earth in our own little ways. I have not been to Siargao but plan to visit one day. I wanted to donate $100 but I don’t have it right now… so thought of sending $20 for the next 5 months… So excited to see the abandoned house transformed into a recycling studio in the near future!
I've donated! ❤ I've set a monthly donation! ♥ I believe in this project! ♥
You legend. Thank you for supporting this. Can’t wait to see the progress
Oh, Suni.
She is a pioneer there.
She is really awesome and a nuce person.
We love her.
This is a worthy project that wealthy Filipinos should support. This should also be replicated in other communities.
If I was still in Philippines, I would assign a "barker" that goes around on the beaches from time to time to say "Please, keep our areas clean. Make it a habit. If you're too inebriated not to do so, we'll still do it for you. But please be responsible enough to make the paradise be a paradise for centuries to come."
Awesome project. The government needs to look into this and support them.
The fact that Siargao is so remote makes it possible for things like environmentalism to take root early. Before the island becomes too developed. I wish Sanne all the best in her projects.
The advocacy of this lady i think she is an expat? Is really admirable. Seem she is already a long time resident of the island.
Here husband a Filipino
She was there for maybe more than 10 yrs already
@@EvelinHolmesisn’t she Swedish?
@JayarBdelaCruz She is Swedish
Long time resident I think. The accent gave it away. She's becoming a Filipino. 😉❤️
Ms. S is super awesome! Thanks ma'am 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🇵🇭👍🏾
Thank you for this effort to rebuild the recycle ♻️ building for the benefit of Siargao. Appreciate all your efforts 👌 😊❤. GOD BLESS 🙌 🙏 ❤️ 💖
and this can be another tourist site too, so tourists will learn more about the importance of recycling, reducing trash and how other ways to protect our environment.. salute to your family Jay for opening a window for saving the environment through your youtube channel. more power to your channel!🎉
Sunny is a gem in siargao

@@8milesfromhomegood luck 👍🏻
Hope More people will appreciate the little things to save our mother earth salamat laban lang !!!
Fighting!☺️
8MilesfromHome and Sunny are such a blessing to Siargao. Good luck on you project. There are a few Filipino celebritues who have the same love and passion for Siargao. Hoping they can see this vlog and will be able to help on the fundraising. One of them is Nadine Lustre, she is also a vegan. She has the same advocacy as you. She also helped Siargao after Odette.
DENR must support this kind of projects not only in Siargao but the whole islands that become a tourists spots.
Sonney knows exactly what wants for this. I think she's incredible.
wow hope every municipality or province can have that kind of recycling machine.. praise God than you so much for helping better philippines
Very inspiring and informative video. Thanks for the upload.
Hope Department of Environment & Natural Resources (DENR) will support this project, solid waste recycling.
Nice one! Might be a good idea to provide rubbish bins or baskets to the local businesses like hotels or restaurants where they can take their own trash or used plastics from their customers or people in general to the recycling studio in exchange for soaps or toothbrushes etc and use them for their guests. Not only you're helping the island clean you're also keeping businesses costs down. ♻️
This is exactly what we need here in Siargao. I hope to be able to join in and do my part to help Siargaos environment soon!
Great way to contribute to the community and to the country as well. Thanks for showing this to us. Golden award
We hope we can succeed 😌♻️
Glad someone initiAted this noble projects, i do hope the LGU of Siargao will extend their help to them esp financially..., keep the Island clean n the beach rubbish free
First of all, Thank you for your care for Siargao and the environment in general❤. I hope local politicians can hear us now and help your good cause.
I was looking for Sane and glad to see her again. She’s a secret gem 💎 that Siargao have. She looks amazing
I’m so proud of Sannie , she seems so knowledgeable of everything she wants to do
In the U.K. near the beach where we live, we advertise regular beach cleaning dates. As a community we get lots of volunteers. Could work the same on Siargao. It’s about the community taking pride in their island and working together. Also people have given donations for benches, and lots of other projects. Useless asking the government. Get the people who live in the area together.
We definitely need more of that in Philippines! ♥ ❤
The education side of it is definitely helping the kids here too
Thank you for celebrating in this way. It's not about how Holy WE are but showing love and support to those who need it. Extending ourselves beyond just the immediate needs for ourselves.God Bless❤
That’s the idea. 😌🏝️
I'm so excited to pitch in and help. My job involves setting up her internet access. Fortunately, we think she already has all the bits and pieces she needs. What she doesn't have, I'll happily donate.
I found something Sanne said very interesting about the trash... She mentioned all the un-segregated trash that gets dumped in the landfills... every collection truck I've seen around the island has a tarp saying "No segregation - No pickup"... I'm guessing it's the typical LGU window dressing that they're doing their part. Thank goodness for people like Sanne. Otherwise, this island would still be a trash heap.
Thank you Jay, Sasha, and Sone for cleaning up program.
MAKE SIARGAO ISLAND CLEAN AND FRIENDLY COMMUNITY.
❤❤❤❤❤
It will make the world more beautiful 🙏🏽and healthy
nice - that recycling thing to do. thank you, kind Brits for making Philippines your home.
Jay and Sasha thanks for showing this to us .
I had seen her on Jessica Soho program if i remember correctly. I think few years back . I saw how she fell in love with SIARGAO and the nature at the same time met her man there .
Shout out to Sunny thank you for your contribution to Siargao and I hope the rest of the Philliphines local governments with incentive and grants to encourages entrepreneurs to set up shop to do something that you do . To minimise plastic trash goin to ocean .
Hello to Sunny
Hi Jay , Sasha and Story .
Happy Easter from Sydney , Australia.
Thank you for promoting clean up & recycle.
Also, I wish Philippines would have an animal control program.
Thanks for caring about the environment and especially Siargao. I also love that Poppy pops up in front of the camera. 😜
Sunny has that distinct filipino english accent.
She had been there for a long time, formed an NGO, that's why she already picked up the Filipino accent.
It's awesome, ❤❤❤
The accent is very Filipino. If you close your eyes you'll never know that she's a foreigner
I heard it 😊
She speak Filipino English accent.
I appreciate you guys taking the initiative to help protect the Philippines by starting this recycling/upcycling project. Filipinos are grateful to you guys.
I wish my fellow Americans could be more passionate about taking care of nature as well.
Amazing project! The Phils govt needs to support these types of initiatives that protect the island’s environment.
Wow very strong project. Putting a recycling machine is not cheap. I hope my country sees this project a very very important step towards saving our planet.Thank you Sanne
We really appreciate your reaching out to the community and try to create a positive impact in the lives of the local people. Your kindness, generosity and genuine concern is utterly commendable. Thank you so much....and I am really looking forward to its success.
This is one of my favorite bloggers. Keep it up
Been there 3weeks ago and so disappointed why the local government didn’t do anything to improve the side walk, widen the street and especially the garbages collection. Thank you guys for helping Siargao ❤
Good idea
Im excited for my trip to Siargao, Cebu & Dumaguete this November
Local administrator of Tourism Dept should support Sanna project saving Siargao island every tourists that come in the island 🏝️ pamphlet with plastic trash content to educate tourist for good environment in every agencies, shops, hotels, eatering places, interests of places including Sanna recycle center shop and tourists donate for the good cause saving mother Earth 🌎🌍.Tourism Dept is your duty and responsibility to protect the beautiful island.Lastly also help to donate generously to build the skeleton building donation should be open infinity.Dont forget the island belong to you..Sairgaon people..Sanna is a saint you people should be glad to have her...Big project Make Siargao island great.. beautiful..
Thank you very much for helping the world clean again. From New Jersey USA .
Good Job Guys keep it up
All provinces must learn something from Siargao how to manage their waste. She needs to introduce this program to the local gov’t nationwide and even to the national gov’t esp to DENR (DEPT OF EVVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES) am sure she will get a support from this gov’t agency.
Hoping that the community has come up with a bayanihan campaign to help and rebuild it, to partners with the government to enable to make it happen soon as posssible
Let the environment be natural clean and green to its natural beauty, a step to give huge impact to the environment and also it teach a community to be resposible
Thank you Madam Sunny for this initiative by teaching siargao community to be responsible people
You mentioned Story and Sacha were traveling soon. I was worried they would be traveling during Holy Week. So phew. LOL. Otherwise, it would have been a total nightmare, because all the planes and buses and boats are packed right now with people returning home to family or going on vacation for the holidays.
I hope Sanne and you guys can reach out or collaborate with Ms. Nanette Medved- Po, a philanthropist and founder of 'Generation HOPE' which is a social enterprise and 'PCX' which is like a non-profit plastic credit program. They also recycle plastic waste with their plastic pollution reduction programs. She might be able to help you guys with the funding because she loves to support projects and initiatives like this that will reduce plastic waste and help the environment and the local people.
Very grateful for the advocacy ❤❤❤
Love the recycling project. Here in Hong Kong the government is putting up more recycling areas in every community. Where in People can take their ♻️ waste in the recycling stations and earn points which when accumulated can be exchanged in some products or coupons in some grocery stores.
Just last month in my boss restaurant some environmentalist companies had dinner discussions on how they can help reduce waste materials and how to recycle food waste coming most specially from restaurants
I know she's not a filipina but her accent woooo,, she adapted our accent.
this is so touching for us ...cuz you show how you love our country...really apreciate ..wat good things you like to do to our beloved country..so we kindly love you too for your courage...hope the goverment will see this good things that you do...really love your vlog...thank u so much
Let's support this campaign😊❤
Sanne had learned some Filipino expression around @7:03-@7:04. she said "Oo" translated to "yes" .maybe her husband is Filipino? i hope the project will be so successful so that you can venture to other trash conversion projects such as trash to fuel.
Wow! That's a great endeavor. I support their project. So admirable and help to protect the environment. I hope many people will help them and also the government will recognize them. God bless them.
Donated.
It is amazing how clever story is at a young age. She sounds like an adult when she speaks. I am glad that there are people like Sunny and you guys who care about the Philippines.
I cant wait to see the progress of this recycling building
I really admire people doing like this upcycling...i'm much interested and want to learn more about this thing coz maybe someday here in our baranggay in Butuan City i will do like also something like this... Puhon...
Story is so attentive & smart. Shes the future of Siargao. Im hoping you guys will stay longer in the Philippines
Very nice project... hope many will support it.. ❤❤
What a fantastic project and I'm sure there will be lots of people that'll be on board. Most people are well aware of being eco-conscious. Awesome stuff. More power
I think Panglao need this kind of recycling trash.thanks for sharing guys.❤
brilliant idea! hope and pray this will pread out the entire country and young generation will be more aware of the importance of it👍👍
I'm in..thanks for the work you guys are doing. Siargao is so lucky to have you guys as residents.
Besides the recycling business, I would like to suggest starting an animal shelter in the Philippines. There is a large population of stray animals in the Philippines that require care.
This is such an amazing and well needed cause and kudos to I’m so sorry I forgot her name the lady who is making this all come together! For a foreigner to love and care for another country’s waste problem is on another level and simply admirable! I really hope all your hard work pays off and you’re right, you cannot do it all alone this is an ongoing thing and each and every person who steps foot in that island or anywhere else in the world has a part to play. If it’s not already part of the school curriculum I really hope they introduce waste management in the claSses so as people there will learn from a young age! I’m going to donate and share the website as this is something that’s worth investing in ❤
Side note, the former ms universe, not sure you are aware is currently in the Philippines and she upcycles materials to create sustainable clothes. Perhaps you can partner up with her somehow to bring awareness to this project?
And just for my own selfishness 😂 I’m going to siargao early next year and would like to learn more about this project, see some updates about it and see how we can help somehow! I’m Filipino but living in Australia fyi.
Sanne speaks English with a pure Filipino accent.
Because she is from Sweden and so English is not her mother tongue.
@@jedtorres8825and she's living in Siargao for I think more than 10 yrs now
It may not be pure Filipino accent though. I've heard Swedes who talk English, so it could be the combination of both Swedish and Filipino accent.
Thank Sacha and the other lady for letting their girls come out to say hi. 😊
Kudos to all of you, guys. It is such an amazing project. Thank you for helping make the Philippines and the world as a whole a better place to live in. Pinoy luvs you❤
Great mission. ❤
Thank you for supporting this good cause!
It’s going to be very interesting to see it develop
I wish the Philippines government can hop on board this program to help conserve the Philippines.
Great project, good cause!
@ 16:50 five star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ reviews on the mattress .....

I like her Filipino accent so cute👍🏼❤️
yes. Take care of your skin...always use umbrella and sun screen cream. Do not destroy your skin from sun damaging UV.
Thanks!
Godbless You people who help the philippines in different way...
This is a fun (and educational) video.
🙏thank u much for what u & your family do & make your place much more beautiful.. YOU all r a blessing to this planet!! 🌎 ty!🙏😇
story is so cute!so active
Thank you very much!❤❤❤
I hope Angat Buhay can partner with the recycling studio. Maybe they can help in rebuilding.
This is more beneficial in the long run if the national govt to spend this project rather than giving ayuda as this will give people livelihood and help clean the environment
This is a great project! 😊
this is very inspiring to watch this kind of topic on the vlog,I'm amazed how they really care the Nature,I hope the Government pay attention in this kind of project not only in siargao instead allover the Philippines, especially now so much visitors in the country.
When you see the plastic every day, it’s hard to ignore. 😌 Most of the kids here are also taught that plastic pollution is bad
