Started today to track my walking, drinking a bottle of water right now and started to go to bed earlier this week. Starting small but working my way to adding more things next week.
Having a real-life community is SO critical to health and wellness. Having my gym friends, who have truly become like family to me, makes working out something I look forward to all day long. It is one of my favorite parts of my daily routine!
I would love to dive into some more nuanced goals that could/would be beneficial for a monthly consistency challenge. I try to come up with something every month that will help me with my weight loss goal, but I always end up doing calorie intake, daily steps, or fiber intake. I want to be more creative, but I haven't thought of anything yet.
There’s a lot of anxiety associated with starting a weight loss journey and being consistent - specifically, can/will I maintain this, how to live life + have fun and not completely obsess about food/weight/exercise. Thank you for making these videos accessible, down-to-earth, and practical. I feel less overwhelmed after watching them and empowered to keep going.
Loved the last one- connecting with people in person and not via just online is so important and is increasingly harder and less common. Makes communicating with others with different views less common and part of why people are less tolerant or understanding of different views. Another great video with great content! Thanks
Currently binging your podcast and hearing all the experiences of other people has been so great for my motivation!! I’m super behind (almost done with 2021) so you’ll probably be into 2024 by the time I’m caught up 😂😂 thank you so much!
I’ve heard you talk about fiber before, but when I heard you talk about it again in this video I’m finally sitting down and doing something about it. I’ve never tracked fiber before! I’m going to start now! Thank you, Jordan!
Anytime it has been socially acceptable in conversation I tell people to check out your channel. It's awesome and so common sense based. Thanks for being an asset to society!
Putting down the phone definitely seems to be a common thread, helps in ridding toxic people, finding local community, reading a real book, going to bed earlier….It is so easy to be caught up going from one app to the next. Definitely something I need to work on, reducing screen time.
All of these are excellent advice! I appreciate your candor and am always excited for the next video. It reinvigorates my fuel for overall health and wellness, even though I fail more often than not. I'm sincerely grateful for your content and authenticity!
I meet up with a group of girls and work out twice a week....working out is great but its the benefit to my mental health that keeps me going back. Another Great video Jordan!
I love listening to your podcasts on walks, runs, and at work while I'm baking. I'm working on making my own consistency calendar for drinking more water and doing at least one thing that gets me moving every day. Thanks for the content!
Great content! I've come full circle in my fitness and health journey in the past 6 months. And gaining new insightful inspiration and info is critical for me to keep up my momentum. Thank you!
I’m listening to this as I’m getting ready for work. I am a flight attendant and always struggle with my sleep pattern. I can see the changes in my behavior and food choices when I get to sleep properly. Amazing tips! Thank you!
Absolutely love this video! All fantastic tips with some I needed a reminder on. I truly enjoy watching your videos. It's like listening to a friend break things down and be honest. Thanks Jordan!
Great video as usual Jordan. By the way, your book is my new favorite thing to gift people. You have impacted so many lives more than you know. Thank you
I've found limiting social media use extremely helpful. It's opened up so much free time to focus on myself and my goals (incl working out - I'm only a few wks into this), but also the lack of constant cortisol spikes from seeing ppl doing awful things or just trolling others non-stop has to be healthier. That stuff just depletes faith in humanity and drains energy and time away from my own motivation. Re: removing specific toxic ppl - it's important. Sometimes they can teach us more about ourselves though. Always good to ask one's self if they're being toxic in some way before cutting ppl out I think. I have noticed a lot of ppl want to run from difficult convos vs want to grow as a person or heal relationships, so it can be a bit of a slippery slope if done purely as an avoidance tactic. Re: protein,I find it really difficult to eat that much protein even when using shakes. 150 lb is my goal weight for now and can only seem to muster up btwn 85-95g of protein per day on average based on my log. Mind you it was probably lower than that a month ago so this has already been a big adjustment, but I definitely struggle to get over 100g in all honesty.
Just now found your UA-cam channel after years of following you on Insta. Great information! There were definitely some points that I hadn't been considering, like cutting out toxic people and having a fiber goal. 👍
The #10 item you talked about was so good. All of your content is great but the socializing with other people is so important for your health. I went to work in an office for 2 years which I was , at most times, completely by myself. I recently transferred to an office with many people and the social interaction is great! I missed being around a lot of people. We still all have a job to do in that office and we are focused on work but it is so nice to have more human interaction again!❤❤❤Technology is huge! Videos and content and social media, ginormous! But nothing can beat being around the right people at the right times. And, being social, making human connection & in some cases, supporting each other😊
Thanks, Jordan for another great video!! I try to work on all of these daily! Sleep is the only place I struggle, my 16 month old refuses to sleep through the night! 🤦🏼♀️ On another note, I've read your book 3 times! Love it!
Can working out be classed as relaxing/taking time for yourself? I do pole dance/pole sports and the community is so supportive that it feels like hanging out with your friends (while also being really physically challenging). I’m usually buzzing when I finish. Plus it’s time I’m not working/running a home. It feels like me time
I couldn't agree more on the community point . being an expat in a culture that is very individualistic makes this so hard. Even the other expats somehow tend to withdraw and it's so difficult to find communities that are not just meetup groups for hooking up😅
Lawdddd! I added todays morning smoothie. Its was about 500-600 calories. I need to HALF and/or eliminate some of my components. That peanut butter is murderrrr!😭😭
I've been missing real life interactions-- I have work and I have my family, but I don't DO ANYTHING with anyone. I gym solo and I don't have the money for any real hobbies outside of reading/at home yoga. But I do have the time to do things with others, I just need to find an activity to get me out of the house. Off to see what I can find on facebook about some local groups to see what I can join.
About the "don't eat things that you don't like", I would complement with "but, at least, give it a try". For example, when I started drinking diet soda I didn't like it and I wanted to go back to normal soda, but I thought "no, everybody says that drinking your calories is not the best way to consume your calories, so I'll try it for a week to see if I get used to it" and nowadays I can't drink normal soda anymore, I find it disgusting compared to the diet one. The same with soy, whole wheat pasta, and a ton of other things.
As a recovered alcoholic I can attest to the fact that alcohol absolutely takes away quality sleep. Sleep is precious to me now after years of being tired all the time.
I really love the last one about real life interactions! It's definitely something that gets over looked and as you said, can be as simple as going to a class of some kind just once a week.
Yeah, special needs kids are challenging. Reality is a lot of times you can't take time for yourself, no matter how much you NEED to. Just had a hospital stay because I couldn't take time to take my insulin at the right times.

''Don't eat ~'' is my favorite here. I didn't expect that and was so relieved you mentioned foods I hate as an example. 😅

This is so practical. My biggest struggle is sleep. I do all the things but still don’t sleep great.

Removing toxic people from your life is so important as those toxic people can impact your ability to relax and get quality sleep.
I totally agree.
Love the community tip. My community is who I celebrate with and who gets me through hard times.
Currently binging your podcast and hearing all the experiences of other people has been so great for my motivation!! I’m super behind (almost done with 2021) so you’ll probably be into 2024 by the time I’m caught up 😂😂 thank you so much!
I’ve been doing that too!
I’ve heard you talk about fiber before, but when I heard you talk about it again in this video I’m finally sitting down and doing something about it. I’ve never tracked fiber before! I’m going to start now! Thank you, Jordan!
#10 is 100% on point, thank you for bringing that up, great advice!

Loved how this focused on items in the periphery that truly has impact on your overall health and wellbeing!

I definitely need to find a play group in real life! One that doesn’t just drink alcohol 😂
Cool advice!
“You will cry when you see what a serving of peanut butter looks like. It sucks.” 🤣🤣

protein recommendation converted approx to kgs: 1.5 to 2.2g protein per kg goal body weight
(edited after comment)
Negative, that’s much too low. Minimum 0.8g/kg
@@patrickmonforton3988 you're 100% right, I did the multiplication the wrong way :p
I'll edit it now
thanks for the heads up :)
Yeah, special needs kids are challenging. Reality is a lot of times you can't take time for yourself, no matter how much you NEED to. Just had a hospital stay because I couldn't take time to take my insulin at the right times.
"promo sm"
Thanks Jordan super helpful as always ❤
