I am pretty sure I can explain the tape. People like to shake starterts to make sure there is no lose cards inside and instead a properly sealed starter. The tape would make it sound right.

i would love to see this become a reality. Yes those holding packs would generate more value but these crds should be opened and displayed. Also it will reduce the number of chances for people to make fakes as the market cap dwindles and people become less willing to buy

Well, must admit the geek as I am, this was actually an important opening! A few years ago, I made replica Alpha print sheets with the help of data gathered by The Collation Project and watching every single Alpha product opening video I could find. In the end I had to make a best guess for the artwork of one of the mountains on the uncommon sheet (I never found an opening covering that area of the sheet), this opening finally confirmed I guessed correctly 😂 Also, for what it’s worth, there are three island rares in Alpha on the rare sheet, the one you opened is the one that is replaced in Beta with Volcanic Island. The version of the art was unknown for many years until a Beta starter with Alpha rares was opened maybe two years ago - I believe this is the first time it’s been seen from an Alpha pack!

This is why I think there shouldn’t be a single box left unopened. I get that having an unopened box is a finite thing and there’ll be a point where there’ll be only a handful left, making them even rarer, BUT if those boxes aren’t cracked, then what if the last 5 “unopened” alpha starter decks in the world are actually filled with fucking Wyvern cards and Italian magic cards. There’s NO guarantee anymore that you have what you think you have until you open it
The only reason not to open them, is to artificially inflate the market, and create a fraudulent market where scams are possible. It's like diamonds and watches, literally worthless, but people think they're rare so they've got inflated market value from artificial scarcity. The unopened packs should organically increase in value as they're naturally opened over time, to purposely hold them unopened because of their value is purely a weird capitalist thing, and it births all these scams and frauds, etc.
The only boxes that should be left unopened are the people who bought them originally. They know beyond a doubt they don't have fakes and they can just let that shit appreciaaaate.

I love the idea of opening cards and wearing gloves for the first time... but every stream it gets more and more comical. First its simple lab gloves, then gloves that go up to the elbows, and then eventually it gets to the point where he goes "Alright, it's time to open cards" and he starts putting on a full hazmat suit and brings the camera to a sterilized room.

Most of the popular high end card youtubers do not use gloves as they make movement impercice and the chances to damage the card by handling it is actually higher than with hands.

Got a taped card alpha repack and paper towel desk guy in the same week…
I had all of these cards and gave them all away about 15 yrs ago. Back then they worth 100.00 and took up way too much space. I must have had 20 dark rituals, 10 sliver queens, 5 stp. They weren't worth it back 15 yrs ago. I wonder if my star wars cards are worth anything today? I got them back when I was a kid in 1978.

Tape, and cards from Time Spiral block. Future Sight cards would have been funnier inside an Alpha deck.
The second Alpha deck is totally legit, no problems there.
There's 5 basic Islands on the Alpha rare sheet, and only 1 of each other card. This means you're 5 times more likely to open an Island than any other particular card.
This artwork of Island appeared on the rare sheet 3 times.
This particular Rare Island is the special one. It occupied the space that became Volcanic Island in Beta & Unlimited.
If you were opening Beta or Unlimited instead, this would have been a Volcanic Island.
This is only the second time that one of these has been opened on video!
Ideally, that card should be closely studied for any kind of identifying feature which would enable other previously opened Alpha Rare Islands to be identified.
If they're able to be identified, the could become a desirable variant, similar to the "campfire" Desert in Arabian Nights. The first person to figure it out, gets a head start on searching for them.

Yes, 3 have been opened on camera and verified in the 15 years. UA-cam has existed. There are only 3 recordings of a black Lotus. There are 0 recordings of a misprinted black Lotus being pulled.
