      Thanks Brett! It was a fun build! I think I'll be making a quick sheath and putting and edge on it so stay tuned!

    Bro you've absolutely created a "Cadillac" of a axe there! Buyers of such things want the complete package. Yes w stearing wheel and tires. Sharpening and mask making are skills few have time for or often knowledge of. My vote sharp and shealthed. Excellant vid as always! You really should sell your handles separately also, if you have time?..guessing you dont as husband and father. :)

      Thank you!!! I really appreciate that. You make a good point about everyone not having the supplies to make a mask. I also lean towards it being a full package.
      I have considered selling some handles but am hesitant for a few reasons. Roughly shaping one up would not take that long if the buyer wanted to do the the final sanding and hang. I mostly have no idea what I would charge and if anyone would want it after the cost of shipping. It's certainly something I would consider though.
      I appreciate the input!!! Thank you!

    I wish the House handles came with a taller eye. It's always a bit hairy trying to fit something like a Connie. I usually order the 30 inch handles which I think have an even shorter eye over the 28 or 32. This turned out great though.

      Thanks Joey!!! And I absolutely understand what you mean. Even an extra half inch would be a significant help with that tongue length. I've got some hardwood dealers by me that carry both hickory and ash. I really should price out what it would cost to get a board from them and break it down into billets.

    Love how this came out! Can you share your file and rasp setup? I see you use a red tang farriers rasp and Shinto rasp (along with a half round med cut rasp), etc, also what is the purpose of Blueing an axe? I mean besides it looks awesome as shit, does it preserve the axe as well? Thanks dude!

      Thanks Mike! I appreciate the kind words. The tools I typically use for a hang may make for an interesting quick video. You are correct. I use a heller red tang farriers rasp for the heavy removal along with a corse narex cabinet makers rasp. Then I move to the shinto rasp. And the finer rasp was a Nicholson that I dropped years ago and the tang broke off. Thus the duct tape handle. It's still cutting strong though so I'll keep using it.
      For the bluing it does look cool for sure! But it also protects the head from rust. The bluing itself is a form of controlled rusting. Applying the bluing creates a protective oxide layer that is more resistant to deep rusting. It's not incredibly durable, but as the bluing wears off with use, a natural patina should form underneath.

    Are you in Canada or the US? What are you thinking for a sale price?

    • @Nsvens89
      @Nsvens89  3 місяці тому

      Hey Jason. Yes I'm the US. I'm in Upstate new york specifically. I'm not sure where the bidding will end. I plan on listing it as an auction and starting it for what I've paid for the head and handle. I will definitely post a video with a link to the auction when it's live.

    Man that came out awesome. Would make a great user and if i didnt literally just blow my axe budget today id grab it off you for sure, always wanted a connie.
    As for sheath, personally i dont think an axe is finished without one, but, for selling on ebay, i think unless the sheath is super fancy or your trying to practice, its prob not worth your trouble. A lot of collectors will buy without it, and like you said, just store it in their shed or on the wall. Leather, fasteners, dye etc and your time get pricey!
    For the grind, your spot on, just bring it to an acceptable clean edge with no chips in it, and call it good.
    Good vid, nice job! 👍👍🪓

      Thank you Kurt!!! I truly appreciate it. And you articulated my exact thoughts on the sheath well. I don't think any leather work I'm currently doing is going to drive the price up any significant amount. But I do like the idea of it being a complete project. I most definitely need the practice as also. I think I've made up my mind that I will make one. Nothing fancy, more utilitarian.
