What's wrong with being Albanian and practicing Islam or Christianity? I've been reading some comments and it almost seems like you see it as something shameful when an Albanian chooses to practice a religion.

There are some Albanian Christians but the majority of Albanians are muslims. Most Albanian muslims are the direct descendants of traitors who converted to islam when the ottoman's invaded. They did this to gain favor and privilege with their new masters. Compare this behavior to other Europeans who lived under the ottoman yoke and who refused to submit or convert. Those albanians that aren't the direct descendants of traitors are the direct descendants of turkish or arab settlers (from other parts of the ottoman empire) who settled in albania during the occupation.

If you notice his anwers to the comments are the same for different users, actually he is not sharing an opinion he is here to propaganda!

his last name is not Albanian! His first name is. The sad truth is that Albanians that live outside of the country of Albania are way more religious than the ones that live in Albania. In my opinion it is just a way that they differentiated themselves from the other cultures in the country they lived in such as in Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia or Greece. The Albanian population has changed their religion plenty of times throughout history!

Most important thing to understand about albanians is the Albanian national identity trumps any religion identity. You cannot call yourself a muslim and an albanian. you are either one or the other and that is because communism succeeded in eradicating religion. This being a religious video, people might be offended by what I said but that is the truth as we all understand in Albania. It is different in Kosovo or macedonia where religion was never trampled. This is the main point about Albanian identity and it is not even mentioned here so I doubt this tv channels integrity.

There are some Albanian Christians but the majority of Albanians are muslims. Most Albanian muslims are the direct descendants of traitors who converted to islam when the ottoman's invaded. They did this to gain favor and privilege with their new masters. Compare this behavior to other Europeans who lived under the ottoman yoke and who refused to submit or convert. Those albanians that aren't the direct descendants of traitors are the direct descendants of turkish or arab settlers (from other parts of the ottoman empire) who settled in albania during the occupation.

They are Albanian Muslims from outside of Albania. Albania was also upon a time religious as Albanians from Kosovo, Montenegro ans Macedonia. Also during the Yugoslavian regime most Albanians were forced to asimilate their names to Slavic ones. So -vić got added to many last names. Redžović is probably Rexhaj but Slavs forced them to change their name.
