One of the biggest advantages to the chatterbait that nobody ever mentions is the feedback you get from the vibration of the bait. The vibration makes the chatterbait really easy for new or inexperienced anglers to feel lite push bites and weeds witch will help them understand what the bait is doing at all times.
I tried a chatter bait yesterday for the first time finally, and I was amazed at the feedback. I went back and fourth between the chatter and a swim bait I had tied on another rod and found myself feeling lost with the lack of feedback. I think I found a new go too.
The knowledge learned from these guys is so valuable and appreciated that I’ll let the commercials play while I check my email. As long as it isn’t one of those 40 minute commercials! 😉
You know you’re following the right fishing channel on UA-cam when you literally laugh out loud while watching a video that you are also gaining valuable information from. (Matt: baitfish when being chased normally don’t stop and wait to get eaten 😂). In my opinion this is the best informative fishing channel on UA-cam. Keep up the good work guys! 🎣
Just caught my PB on a swim jig and a River2sea D Walker 100! Didn’t have a scale but 22” and FAT. Maybe 6.5 lb? Missed her the first time on a big blowup, then skipped that jig right back to the boil and BAM! Thanks to TB for all of the great swim jig vids. Really made the difference.
Man this video was exactly what I needed because I have been so close to putting this puzzle together on my home lake with shallow grass. Done very well with the jackhammer but I want to have a secondary approach to the grass. The way you described “secondary action” with the proper swimbait trailer was key for me. Ready to go pre fish for next tournament now.
Just getting into this guy's content. Some of the best I've come across for real info. None of this is what I use and what to pair it up with and look I caught one and nothing else. He gives the true functionality and practices for the type of equipment you are using. He had brands yes but it's the explaining of what he is looking for so he can use it for his needs not selling a brand and saying look I caught some on it. Keep up the great great videos. Now to Binge watch all the others... lol
The experience shows Matt. Huge thank you. Knowing you situation and picking the rt bait to throw in and around grass is an incredible tool to have in the tool bag. Thanks for getting very specific and why!
This is one of my favorite videos of all time. Watching Matt share this knowledge with such passion is incredibly inspiring. Matt, you are an amazing teacher. Thank you. (Tim you are amazing, too!)
There is nothing better than put in practice what you just learned on a video. I just caught a 7 lb 4oz on the NO JACK S-Gig doing what I learned on this video. Thanks man for sharing the knolage.
Love me a bladed-jig and swim-jig bite on our grass lakes up here in Vilas County $$ Thanks for the video, bro… Always learning and getting better ~ Peace ~
I caught my PB (7+ lbs) on a chatterbait back in May. But now that it’s summer time, I’m catching more fish, and bigger fish on a black & blue swim jig. As always, great video Matt!
That was the clarification I needed in immatating bait fish and when and where, I had all but put the chatter away for the summer but now I will bring it back out! I have been waiting for your snap reccomendations as well... cant thank you enough sir! Have a good 1🙂
I always learn so much from your videos, and your tips over the past few years have really helped me go from never catching a bass, to finding and catching bass pretty regularly! Now just to find the big ones… lol
Another text book right on presentation on these successful lures. I used your summary to update my notes for each presentation. Now I get out and practice the techniques. Thank you for taking time to share your expertise.
Ameture anglers as well as intermediate through advanced anglers. Can all learn something from both Matt and Tim. Soak up as much knowledge as you can, we are all lucky to have this opportunity
Just subscribed to your channel and I just wamted to say that it was one of the best explained fishing videos I have seen. I really liked your reasons for the how's and why's to use each of the different baits, thanks for a great video!!
Love the info on chatterbaits just started experimenting with them in the middle of wisconsin 90% of where i fish is cranberry mashes bass crappies northern ive caught no bass yet but some big northerns on them cant wait to hook on a big bass with them thnx again fish on
Those pleasure shads are what I use on my swim jigs too. Soon as a I saw there action in the water I knew instantly they were going to be an awesome trailer. They give the swim jig action without any effort on my part
Thank you, great presentation. I've been waiting on a good instructional video on these lures. BTW, I tried your Bully Wa Little/Allen frog Monday evening. Caught seven in under an hour, three of which were 4 to 5 lbr's.
You guys....I literally just spent a fortune on swim jigs and trailers, looking at your previous videos about them. Decided to get some swammers and d walkers for them to try them out. And then you hit me with this. Either I've learned to predict your videos so I have the tackle BEFORE the video, or it was just great timing.
I've broken a jackhammer swivel was fishing 20lbs sunline shooter the fish was huge seriously broke my heart. But I caught alot of fish on that exact jackhammer probably worn out swivel I guess. Awesome video
The first lure I throw every year is a big ol’ chatterbait for some cold water hogs. It’s the best for early spring fishing here in Wisconsin after the ice melt.
Great video this is exactly why I subscribe to your channel! My question is I went through the description at the end and can’t find what you talked about being the best three trailers that make a swim jig skirts pulsate. I watch the video three times and still haven’t heard which ones you say our best. Once you have time hope to hear from you headed out this weekend to give your information to Try. Keep up the awesome work you guys are the best
Another informative video from T.B. I definately prefer chatterbaits over swim jigs..like to feel that blade workin'. the 8 thumbs down are older bass, from different states is my guess..
You definitely need a high speed reel for chatterbaits! One to do that “quick crank” to create that fleeing action and most importantly to pick up that big bow in the line when a fish bum rushes your bait and keeps coming forward!
Just wanted to come back and say thx, your video helped me gain some confidence even though I didn't catch a thing😂😂. Today was the 1st day after about 6 times that I actually got and felt a bunch of bites, I kept casting in same area and felt em every cast, but the last one even took off a bunch of reel and boom it popped 😂😂. I actually really liked that swim bait. Thx again, I'm hyped to get back out there, I need to get my knot game up😢😂
Hey Matt Great video as always, super informative. Quick question?? Have you tried the Berkeley Deal as a trailer by Skeet Reese please try it and tell me what you think!?!
Hey Matt, on the years I've watched a couple of swim jig videos. All GREAT information!!! My question is, when is it a good idea to use a craw as a trailer? Also, when does it have an advantage over a swimbait?
It’s related to his point on overall profile and being mindful of what you are attempting to represent. He has a mother video on spinner baits & bladed jigs, he breaks down the craw trailer on chatterbaits in that one.
Great video. Very helpful. I’m a pond guy and only fishing for a few years. I’ve tried a Chatterbait several times and haven’t caught a thing. I’ve got one tied on all the time and I’m committed to catching a fish with one this summer. I’m wondering if I’m not having success because of the size of bass that are in the ponds. Will a smaller bass (say less than 1.5lbs) hit a Chatterbait?
I started fishing chatter baits this year too man. Out here on the bay of quinte though, bigger fish here. The pre-spawn was great, less weeds here and was great for covering a ton of water finding those fish bulking up for the spawn. I think they will crush it in the fall too. Keep playing with trailers and go for a bluegill profile if your pond hopping. I really liked throwing it in the dirtier water too the bait has a lot of draw power
A large mouth bass will eat anything 3/4's it's size. I just recently started using a chatterbait bluegill colored skirt with a 4 inch Yamamoto pumpkin green top yellow bottom. And I've caught plenty of 2lbers even a 4lber.
Great video as usual, but my curiosity never ends when I know other great alternatives for trailers that for me personally gave so many times great results in tough situations, fished even raw without the regular jigs for them but with ned or offset. And I'm not talking about just Bass cz I'm from Europe :D > for that spunk shad there is Illex aka Jackall // I-shad or I-shad tail and for the creatures there is Scissor comb which not many manufacturers are even getting close to that. Please keep this in mind and perhaps you will give it a try for a next time. Best regards and all the appreciations and respect for everything that you're doing.
Just landed my PB Largemouth the other day on a Z-Man Jackhammer! It was 26” in length, 18” in girth, and weighed 10 pounds 2 ounces!
Congrats on your double digit PB! 👍🏼💪🏼
Congrats brotha. Chatterbaits are legit. My first fish ever on one was a 5
I’m guessing my 5 biggest fish have come on Jackhammers in February and March? Amazing bait!
What a hog, not a bass like that where i live
I've learned so much from this channel and almost everytime I apply what he talks about I catch more fish.
Me too even got me divorce so now i can by more tackle thanks to Matt & Tim im a free man 😎🎣
@@Broken_n_Famous soon to be broke man. Lol better be careful man fishing can be a huge money sink

Same with a big oak blade spinner bait, lots of thump!
Which
TB is so consistent with the quality that I liked the vid before I watched. Keep it up!
Have been for years! I feel like a Matt and Tim should write a book!
I do the very same thing.

We're happy to help!

been crushing on a chatterbait lately but have had zero confidence in a swim jig. i tied one on Monday and then you did this video. you read my mind
Your over all knowledge of fishing and passion for it is out of this world !

Thats awesome! Congratulations!!
Thank you for getting straight to the point. I hate when people talk way to much about unrelated things.
D walker trailer for the swim jig is so good. Thanks for sharing the knowledge
I agree D walker is great .try a lunker city shaker ( less expensive and nearly the same action )
Another great video. I like this format where you explain the differences between similar lures. And then the optimal situations to use them.
Man this video was exactly what I needed because I have been so close to putting this puzzle together on my home lake with shallow grass. Done very well with the jackhammer but I want to have a secondary approach to the grass. The way you described “secondary action” with the proper swimbait trailer was key for me. A bluegill swim jig is probably my go to summer bait. Specifically the california swim jig with a 4.8 sun gill keitech
Go pats @hc_gabe
@@Mattys91gt well, as long as Brady is gone that’s fine I guess... 😂

Chatterbait is one of my confidence baits. I will say that I've used various colors and they all catch. I now carry several skirts to quickly change.
I’m pretty much a soft plastic, chatterbait, spinnerbait and crankbait lord but I’ll still watch videos like these for fun :)
I’d love to see a 2021 buyers guide video like you’ve done in the past, as far as rods and reels/ setups!
This is one of my favorite videos of all time. Watching Matt share this knowledge with such passion is incredibly inspiring. Matt, you are an amazing teacher. Thank you. (Tim you are amazing, too!)
