Best comparison I’ve seen between the 2. I’m in college and now and stuck between software engineering and data science.
if you wanna work more deep learning, ML, and AI then do DA
What an excellent comparison!! Not only telling about the two fields but also the important aspect of one's own inclination and in the end how to find where one is inclined. Beautiful!!!
Very detailed comparison. Your analogies make it really easy to understand the similariities and difference between the two fields, and your experience helps a lot in helping people choose their path.
What the, just in time! Currently taking masters in SE while taking DS path online during weekends.
I needed this video for a long time
thank you so much
Thank you for this video! I was indecisive for a long time, but after your comparison I feel that data science may be a better fit.
Perfect sorting of distinct nature of both fields, kinda feeling absolute clarity about my career choice I'm going to make!
Honestly one of the best explanations I've seen, for anyone requiring some guidance in choosing among the fields
Great video. I would love see your point of view about the data engineer field.
I still can't choose between them🥺
me too
My way to look at it: do you like to make the excel sheet and format it all to organize the data, or read and manipulate the data and refine as you go
@@BadAtGaming100 if I would to choose software development, what path do you suggest me ( I can study only online, and limited budget)
in practice, we write code which goes into production. and more and more we're being asked/required to move towards better and better solutions (argo, design, ci/cd, maintainability, performance, readability) for at least what we do as """data scientists""", there is ability for explore at the end of the day for like algos and transforms which might produce a better result for ur clustering model.
but at the end of the day, we're building back end pipelines so that the clients team can pick up said data and make shiny ui's for their customers
just very full stack where im at, one project required a bit of extensive bash/*nix, which got much better there, also dovker should have a container managemebt system before k8s, compose is just complexity of a single project
Best way to know is to grab an internship in both the fields. Nothing can replace the experience you gain by actually doing things
For those who like to build solution straight after exploring the problems, got to knowing both, they're so called Data Engineering, DataOps, MLOps.. Somehow they form into a data product lifecycle.
can you explain more why?
thank you so much for this video, this has answered certain questions. i appreciate this.
I used to be “an ML research engineer” which seemed to be mix of those two, based on your explanation. I developed deep learning models (tensorflow) and continuously increase the accuracy until our boss is satisfied, and then all we need to deliver is the tfmodel. And there are some other sw engineers who take that tfmodel and deploy it. I loved that role because the daily work involves reading a lot of icml cvpr papers and discuss which techniques we will apply.
Hello Tina thank you very much for this video, finally I choosed software engineering because I see coding as a craft, that I wanted to improve.
But I'm interesting in machine learning, may be i'll see if I want to choose this career path
Really thank you for sharing the difference and your opinion of each one
Very clearly explained and very useful for me as a new grad. Thank you!
I recently graduated with a bachelor's in math, and am looking into either software engineering or data science/analytics as a potential career. I'm going to be taking some courses+certification programs at the local community college in Python development (I love Java, but Python seems like it would be more applicable for my current goals) and in SQL to better equip myself for entry-level work in these fields. Thanks for this informative video -- I definitely have a lot to think about! :)
You'll do well, my friend did the same thing and got a really well paying job less than 5 months after graduating. I'm getting a math degree also and self teaching python. Good luck!
@@jacobb2449 Thank you for the kind comment - I really needed to hear this today. Good luck to you, too! 😊
I've spent the last six years of my career writing code to solve problems, but I'm not what you'd call a software engineer. I enjoy writing code as long as the problem gets solved. Thus, it's really hard for me to choose between software engineering and ML engineering. I'm very open to both routes.
This is really insightful breakdown.
This was EXTREMElu helpful. thank you for this video
Great video. Solid information.
Thanks for sharing, very helpful... 😊,
Wonderful breakdown. I choose data science. Thank you.
@11:52 The summary right there. Thank you!
Best comparison ever!
The first two considerations make me a software engineer but the last one keeps me confused. I enjoy the merger of different fields! But I surely love building stuff and love coding. Especially when just few keyboard strokes enable me to build so many new things, that excites me a lot.
what decision did you reach?
@@SarahAli23 That software engineering is for me
@@KinzaSheikhOfficial Thanks 👍
I am definitely attracted more data science, but I don’t have a masters degree or a PhD and I noticed most Jobs require you to have one or the other or both. It’s unfortunate, because a lot of the data scientists that I have spoken to say that it’s completely pointless because people who come in with either masters degrees or PhD’s, don’t understand data science and it’s something that you don’t need an advanced degree to be able to learn and apply. Software engineering, on the other hand, it’s something that you can do with any kind of college degree under your belt. That’s just too bad
Thnx for this informative video😊
Great video thank you
Great Video with insightful contents! Which one do you think is harder for people from other fields?
Enlightening
Omg she killed this presentation. 🔥
So as someone who eventually one day wants to work in data science is there an entry level job role that one can apply as a starting point and just get promoted/ level up to a data science in time rather than just trying to apply for a data science position from the get go? I dont mind starting at the bottom and working my way up the ladder.
Data analyst
Hi there, a lot of people are saying that software engineering is nowhere near what it used to be. That the “action” has now shifted to data and AI and bitcoin. Is that true. Thanks.
Nice video! I am becoming more of a fan of your work; just hit that subscribe button!
from last two monts, i am soo confused between data science and software development. This comparsion gave me some solid insights.
What did you choose ?
how good do you need to be at math to be a data scientist because you usually have libraries that help you with the math
Which career path is best for business Mind persons?
I feel as though becoming a self-taught software engineering is absolutely possible.
I don't, however, feel the same about data science. It seems as though a college background is like absolutely necessary to gain employment as a data scientist.
Is this incorrect to say/believe?
Can a software engineer be a data scientist?
What degree should do to be a better DS ? Computer Science or Statistic ?
You could double major and get both. Or pick on and minor in the other. It extra work, but doable.
love you, Tina, precious girl. ❤
Thanks for this. I choose Data Scientist
Would I benefit from learning data science as a software engineer? If I want to continue with my soft engineer career
What about ML engineer?
If you are just a sw engineer where your project is nothing to do with ML(android developer, embedded engineer etc) learning data science is not that much benefit, imho
I found
Data science = 80% ML stat+ 20%coding
ML engineering = 20% ML stat + 80% coding
What if I wanna become both?🙂
i love stalking, collecting, posting, uploading, saving all the things into gallery, social media, statistic from my daily activity, so i choose data science. i think i should buy larger memory sd card to save anything, LOL!
Hi tina!
:D
Data Scientist. The discovery mindset. :-)
No more videos on every Friday?
Data scientist ❤
after spending 2 year of non stop coding finally decided to go with data science
😄😄😄 and happy
were you coding in python?
Let’s be honest, DS are more and more being required to be software engineers. Companies want DS to be an all source tech guru
Talk about the future of those 2 jobs....
this is nice
can we be friends
the real answer is, neither. because u see ex-data scientists ditching these jobs to become youtubers.
Are you single?
💀💀💀💀💀
She looks cute and yes im paying attention.
The video was helpful, thanks a lot 🤍🤍
