To whoever buys this Vector Prime, it might be a good idea not to cut off those hinge parts. If there's going to be some sort of upgrade set to this figure, it might utilize those hinge bits to hold some pieces in place to improve the look of the shins or something.
@jonross7284 Well, there's only so much that can be done with a partial retool. If Vector Prime got a whole new mold, the (eventually) upcoming Alpha Trion would probably have had to use the same mold & gotten only a new head. Idk about anyone else, but I don't feel like buying that particular Alpha Trion redeco retool.
I’m pretty mixed on this. On the one hand, it looks really good. The remolding, the paint apps, headsculpt. It all looks good. On the other hand, Vector Prime kind of sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the UT characters that have been done. He is the only one that didn’t get a faithful recreation in toy form and it’s such a weird decision by HasTak.
It's a pity they couldn't remold the legs. The Jhiaxus heavily exposed, tightly packed wiring clashes majorly with both the ancient armored knight robot mode and the clockwork spaceship alt mode. It's understandable when he was designed before Legacy was officially unveiled, and thus most likely costed with the initial Jhiaxus molds and using the Legacy year 1 design ethos, but it still irritates after so many excellent UT figure updates. At least the wing tabs exist still, so it'll be simple for an upgrade kit to slot in over them.
I kind of wish these callback Transformer toys still had their original gimmicks fully functional. Have the Cyber Planet Key still unlock something instead of just being there.
I agree but to be fair the original Vector Prime cyber planet key just set off sound effects, bad sound effects at that. But it would’ve been cool to have the key do something

I like that Hasbro included the minicon peg on his vehicle mode even though he is missing Safeguard, backward compatibility is sadly missing on the Armada bots (other than Hotshot)
Have to say, it looks quite nice, a bit of more gold paint in a few areas would be nice though, it would be funny if someone makes an upgrade set that gives him his own tiny leg wings (or something to use those leg clips)

I was lucky and found this at a Meijers recently. He is a really nice figure. Sturdy, good thick plastic, transforms well, looks really good. Worth the $31 I paid.
Hey @@emgo316, I just got mine yesterday and the tab on the head plate won't stay tabbed into the chest so the head just goes up and you have that tab just staring you in the face, is that a issue on just my figure and should I go get it returned or is that a wide spread issue for all of the figures!?
There's shin covers in several upgrade kits for Vector Prime, even feet covers/replacements with toe guns, and wing replacements and additional pieces.
I always wanted to have the original figure, but I couldn't. But now it's a new opportunity; it won't be the same mold, but it's quite similar. Regarding it being a retool of Jhiaxus, that's undeniable, but at least it better simulates the robot under the jet.
Dude keep an eye out. I saw the gold/brown version on FB marketplace for $30 last week. I think people are offloading cuz the new one coming. Me personally I'm keeping my old one n got the new. Wish the new one had the mass/presence
That took a great mold and did a decent job of making a totally different character. Leaving those wing hinges on the legs is both disappointing and hilarious though.
If you're not a fan of the fin in vehicle mode, instead of flipping it completely out for transformation, you can fold it under the ship after the legs are tabbed in, and then tab in the arms for ship mode to secure it between them!
I actually like how much effort hasbro put into this retool figure. Vector prime actually looks better than the original Jihiaxus mold toy. My only gripe would be for Vector to be a little bit taller. Curious is all the rest of the historical Primes their releasing will be the same size as him.
Huh. I thought for sure the sword storage would involve folding the grip one way or the other, judging from how it's attached to the rest of the sword. I also thought some use would be made of that vaguely T-shaped notch at the tip of the nose of the vehicle mode, but I guess that's just for clipping that section in place in robot mode.
A little bummed he had to be a Jihaxus retool, but I’m still glad to have good old Vector back. And he’s a good preview of what’s to come soon when it looks like every single member of the 13 is getting their own figure.
Meh... wish the nosecone of the ship didn't break the sword design into two sections. Also, it seems like something plugs into the tip as well... is that for a blast effect?
I'd hold off on that if you plan on getting any upgrade kits for him since they may use those clips. But if you don't plan on doing that, more power to you.
I th8nk he looks great and I look forward to adding him to my collection. I'm not the biggest fan of Transformers Cybertron but Vector was probably the best thing about the show.
This isn't a good replacement for OG Vector Prime, but it's great as a general version of him for other universes, or for if he jumps from the Unicron Trilogy universe to another.
@@CyberDragon10K Ok Don't know why you're saying "TO each their own", I simply said it's not a good replacement, by "replacement" I refer to the idea that if you were to have a "definitive" toy representation of the character in a collection that is the one you would use. I'm a little disappointed by this figure. Compared to the size of the original voyager, it looks like a deluxe, but doesn't have any more significant engineering to justify itself.
I still have the original Vector Prime. wouldn't give him up for this version. The og is larger with better paint aps and comes with a mini con plus hes electronic. The new one offers slightly better articulation but that's it.
It's a shame that they couldn't devote just a bit extra budget to remolding the lower legs and arms, they would have really made this feel fully worth it and done a LOT to improve the robot mode and fully sell the alt mode. As it stands, it's a good effort but just falls short of really capturing the character, especially in the alt mode for me. I dunno what to expect from the other Prime's that've been rumoured, but I hope at least a couple of them get more work done than this, and one or two really need dedicated new molds
Agreed. I felt so let down when I heard he was just a resculpt of an already existing mold. Makes me wonder if they were saving a new mold for the generation primes line next year or so, since the 13 primes is the focus for that set(s). Sadly it won't be designed after the Cybertron design though. 😢

Despite the complaining about this guy I think the only other viable contender for a massive retool would have been the 86 Scourge mode (Ratbat) though that would have meant about as much if not more upper body retooling though the legs, and feet would have been almost perfect. As Jhiaxus whom is already a fantastic figure for his engineering/articulation which carry over brilliantly to Vector Prime the only real complaint I have are the untouched legs with the bare and useless nubs. Given how inaccurate this iteration already is wouldn't have hurt any to at least design a new smaller wing piece to fill them out. Other than accuracy and a larger size, I really like the absence of his entire backpack and the streamlined look and additional points of articulation.
