If you're looking for further test subjects I'm speaking to you guys tomorrow to scope out my solar and battery install and I'd love to test this stuff out!
Is it the inverter that makes it compatible or do you need that brand of battery too? also is this for three phase electrical system or will it work with a two phase system ?
The inverter does all the comms and controls the battery with the Alpha system it is only possible to have the Alpha inverter with an Alpha battery. The battery is currently only approved for single phase.
Interesting stuff. I assume it handles charging the battery back up again as well? How does it work out the cost if you are on a ToU tariff? All good and well earning a fiver for injecting some energy back into the grid but if it costs you a fiver to charge the battery back up again then it's worthless. This is why DFS will likely fail for domestic BESS this year. Once you take wear and tear into account on the BESS and having to charge the battery back up, you need at least 50p/kWh which is more than gas and NESO have already said they will take the cheapest generation so BESS will never work out as DFS now stands. What NESO should be doing is working some cost of using gas and its carbon creation as an expense and boosting DFS prices to offset the lack of carbon. But I've not seen them considering that anywhere 😢
Hey, as part of the commissioning, the software requires the current tariff information. This data is then used in the algorithm for ancillary services, arbitrage, DFS etc. We are closely following updates from NESO and the DFS scheme, trying to learn more 🙌
What sort of time scale will you know the results of the test. Been considering Alfa 10.1 for a few weeks now, but now see the price quoted on the web is now 10% more when I messaged to confirm.
Hey Ian, we'll be posting a follow up video by the end of January. If we see success with the product we'll launch a bundle on the site with it. If you contact us about the price, we'll be able to honour your original quote.
Very interesting, will the software work with the PW3?

Thanks for reaching out! If you e-mail marketing@heatable.co.uk with your details we'll send some information across when we have an update!
Very interesting.
Glad you enjoyed watching Keith!
