Fred always tried to jeopardize anything that he saw as a threat especially, when it came to Lamont possibly leaving the nest.
That is why Lamont was so mean to him most of the time because of that.
the funny thing is they both did that to each other.but they phased it out after the third season.

Judyann Elder on Sanford and Son. If not for her voice, I wouldn't have recognized her. I must say, she had it going on, back in the day! So many people have an issue with her brief appearance on Family Matters. Get over it! In this episode of Sanford and Son, she had to be in her twenties.
