ABOUT SANFORD AND SON: The highest-rated half-hour series in NBC history at the time, Sanford and Son stars Redd Foxx as the cantankerous sexagenarian Fred Sanford and Demond Wilson as his son Lamont, also his business partner in the family junk-dealing business. To prevent his son from leaving home, and bent on having things his own way in general, Fred often calls upon such ruses as fake heart attacks or phony back ailments. Lamont usually sees through these subterfuges, but because he loves his father, he lets him think he's getting his way.

It ain’t older than running 😂 😂 😂
True
That's right ✅
I still remember that line after 40 years. 😆 🤣 😂
It sure ain't lol
Since the dawn of man we've been running for our lives
Gus- Mr. Wilson, karate is one of the oldest forms of self defense known to man....Grady- “It ain’t older than running”.....Now that’s classic...Dammit man.
and the truth.lol
🤣
Truth. Most Classic Shit ever! 😂
The Grady Glide is poetry in motion
"This is what I called the Grady glide" 🕺🏾
R.I.P. Whitman Mayo!!! Hilarious And Classic!!! 💯🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
"Anybody can beat up on the air."🤣
"...boards don't hit back."-Bruce Lee, "Enter The Dragon"
"Oh goodness now he's praying 🙏. You know what he's saying? Oh Lord, i hope my Blue Cross is paid up!" 😅
The karate instructor is Hugh Van Putten. In 74 I was at the Long beach Internationals and saw him there competing. He was a member of the Black Karate Federation. Jim Kelly was there as a spectator. I had a picture of him and asked him to autograph it. He signed his name and wrote the word " Peace" above his name. As a 13 yr old that meant the world to me.
He did the same for me that same year in Detroit!
@@andrepaige9669 Hell yeah!
He REALLY Knew KARATE? I thought he was a Fake ,just Acting the part.
@@frenchybyrd4274 Yes sir. He really was a black belt in Kenpo karate.
@@Ash26Ken13 Wow thanks for the info. I did not know.
*Lamont & Gus screams*
Grady - "Aaw yeah; if y'all go against JoJo Jackson it gonna be a lot of Screaming! "" 😂😂😂😂😂
"It ain't older than running!"😂
Lamont: "Grady, karate is foolproof. Grady: yeah, you is the fool and Jo Jo is the proof.....ROTFLMAO...this shit is classic!!!
Hellyeah...🤣
If only one of Floyd Mayweather’s opponents knew the “Grady Glide” 😅😂🤣
Grady passed down the shoulder role to Floyd.
Mayweather on your mind
He should of used it when him and fred was about to fight over the tv
Hey, Grady did a pretty good job filling in for Fred 😆
Yes he did
He actually saved the whole show Redd Foxx
Some of my favorite episodes starred Grady. Too bad he couldn’t have had a more success premise for his spinoff show.
I liked him better than Fred
@@mH8675309 me too!
One of the funniest epidoses......in the end Lamont did crazy man's karate that frightened his opponent (JoJo Jackson)...HILARIOUS!!!!!!
Ahh, yes...Lamont was just "having one of his fits", that's all! LOL! (At least, that's what Grady told JoJo beforehand!) But the look of _utter_ disbelief on Lamont's face when he thought he had seriously intimidated the behemoth JoJo Jackson...priceless! (Then he does one more "HAH!" just for good measure.) Pure Gold!!
It didn't really scare the dude, it's just that he thought about all that stuff that Grady told him earlier. He thought Lamont was on the slow-side, and didn't wanna get in trouble with the law for beating up a slow person. Believe me, the only thing JoJo feared was going to jail or prison for beating the crap out of a short bus rider. That was all.
This is one of my favorite episodes 😀😆😅😂😄
I agree
Karate is one of the oldest defense known to man, Grady " it ain't older than running" lol hilarious
Grady: I have a heart attack and drop dead 🤣🤣🤣
The Grady glide.
Grady first called Gus goose and Gas lol this is one of my favorite parts of all time
HAHAHA!! Yep -- that's Grady for ya...always flubbin' the name! Some other funny ones are:
> Ms. Hairston -- Grady called her Ms. "Hairpin".
> Mr. Hastings -- Grady called him Mr. "Haystacks".
> Then Lamont's friends: Rollo became "Rosco" and Julio became "Holy Mo".
> Finally, in one episode Lamont became so annoyed with Grady forgetting his name that he just "helped" Grady 3 times in the same episode -- that is, every time Grady said, "Oh hi there uhh...uhh...uhh":
1st time: "Lawrence"
2nd time: "Lance"
3rd time: "Lucas"
LOLOL!! Then later on, when Lamont got annoyed at Fred, Fred said, "Wait a minute, Lucas..." ;-)
@@pjmills8832 called Esther Chester. Lol
@@chadfree5577 Oh, of COURSE, my friend! LOL! :)
And of course, don't forget one of the best of all time...
Grady: "Oh, hi there...uhhh...uhhhh...Lester!!"
Esther: "That's *Esther* -- NO "L"!
Grady: "Ahh, yeah...Noel...and a Merry Christmas to you TOO!" ROFLMAO!!!

Knock knock
Grady opens the door
Hey there uh uh uh
It’s Esther Fool
Yeah hey Lamont.it’s Esther Fool😂😂😂
@@Biggdoom344 Arrrggghh...you're *killin'* me!! LOL!! And of course, Grady (inadvertently) annoys 2 of Lamont's best friends: Julio (who Grady calls "Holy-Moe"), and Rollo (who Grady refers to as "Roscoe".) LOL!! ;-) And of course, Rollo happened to be eating something (as he corrected Grady)... "Thath Rwolloww!!"
Lamont-Well
Grady-He deafened me I ain't hear him coming..
Me-LMAO
This whole sequence is comedy gold!
"If he messes with JoJo Jackson, he's gonna need all 5 of those belts to lower him into the ground" LMAO!!!
Think the Black belt is Muhammad Ali's brother
😂 😂 😂
Hahaha, yesss! Great quote
"The Grady Glide" 😂😂
"...it aint older than running...." Bwahahahaha
That screaming…😂😂😂😂😂
Whitman Mayo(Grady) killed the one liners in this scene...classic comedy. At around 1:40: You the fool, and Jojo is the proof...LMBO!!!
Grady is a trip
Gus the Black Belt vs The Grady GLIDE!!...LOL
He hit Grady about 20 times 😂
It ain’t older than running 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣😂🤣😂
Goose😂
😯That speed at the end though. Now that was speed.👊
Gus:I'm a 5th degree black belt Lamont:Did you hear that he's a 5th degree black belt..Grady:If he messes with Jo Jo Jackson he's gonna need all 5 of those belts to lower him in the ground 😆
A simple, good, old-fashioned show with excellent comedic timing and countless hilarious episodes. I miss shows and characters like this. Nowadays everyone would be tiptoeing around their lines and making sure that everything in the script was warm, fuzzy, and politically correct. Sanford and Son and All in the Family are the greatest shows in television history.
You said it with the "political correctness"!! Man, S&S and AITF felt like it was in a foreign language compared to the lines spoken o-so-politically-correct today! No way the producers could write lines like this today -- my lord, how would they sleep at night knowing they offended so many snowflakes??? :-O
@@pjmills8832 Yeah! They might get offended and.. I don't know...climb the outside of the U.S. Capitol like a not-to-bright Spiderman or something! Sheesh!
Anyone can beat up on the air. LOL...
OMG!!!! The writing and acting is phenomenal!!!! This is CLASSIC TV at its BEST!!!
Grady is right about running! I once sparred with a jujitsu expert from paraguay and I asked what should I do if I'm in a real fight situation he said runaway!!!
running away is always the 1st option in a fight.... nothing good happens in a fight win or lose.... and pistol being pulled is very likley
@@PopePlatinumBeats _Especially_ in this day & age!
😂
You can't sit there doing a warm-up before a fight you'll get your ass kicked.
The "Grady glide" is similar to my move "The Shawny slide" (real name). Or... The "butters boogie". 😂
I absolutely love this show and the end of Season 3 to beginning of season 4 are some of my favourite episodes even though Redd Foxx wasn't there.
Had high hopes for the "Grady Show" because I had no idea it existed until a couple of years ago and figured it would be great but sadly it wasn't.
Guss: "Mr. Wilson, Karate is one of the oldest forms of self-defense known to man."
Grady: "It ain't older than running!"
Haha... I love that line!
its so funny cus its the truth.... if u can run away.. thats always option 1
Gus: “Karate, Japanese word it means ‘empty hand’”
Grady. “ Well, you’d have a better chance if you FILL that empty hand with a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson.”
They edited that part in this clip
@@deejay8403
3:20 that Karate instructor was the TRUTH;
Crazy how this is my favorite episode of all time and fred wasn't in this one at all😐
He’s a Fifth Degree Black Belt Grady yeah if he mess with Joe Joe Jackson he’s gonna need all five of those belts to lower into the ground Holy shit WOW 😂
"Grady. You don't know what you talking about, man."
Grady-you have a much better chance if you fill that empty hand with a. 38 caliber Smith & Wesson
Ralo- I wouldn't fight Jojo Jackson even if he was to hit my mama!!! 😂🤣😂
Gus: Karate is full proof.
Grady: Yeah, you the fool and JoJo is the proof!! Classic....
Jo JO Jackson You mess with that guy you might find yourself missing Mama said knock you out 😂😂😂
This is awesome they put this up for two reasons. #1 this show is hilarious, #2 The martial artist in this scene (gus) is actually Hugh Van Putten who taught Hapkido to a Karl Kanthak, both were my marital arts teachers back in the early 90's. Mr. Kanthak still teaches in Vancouver, WA but focus more on Taekwondo these days because the popularity. Both are great teachers and both really good people. Hugh at that time had unbelievable speed. One of the greatest fighting techniques he taught me were pressure points. So happy to see this.
The karate kid Jo JoJackson wants you 😂😂😂. This is one of those classic Sanford and Son moment
LOL! I remember when they were in the bar, and JoJo had come up to the group, and the one girl said, "Go on, Lamont -- take him outside and teach him a lesson." Lamont was like, "Well, wait a minute...you can't just take a guy outside like that. I mean, he may not even _want_ to go outside..."
JoJo: "I wanna go _outside_ !"
Lamont: "He wants to go outside..." :-O
This episode is my favorite one they had in Fred's absence!!
Goose, Gas, Duck Shirt, Columbo, Calendar lol
The Grady Glide has ended many careers, Gas better watch himself next time.
I remember "Karate" was all the buzz in the 70s when I was a kid. But it was just that. A buzz.
I swear Fred is the truth, but Grady ain't no hoe, that man was funny as hell...✊🏻🤣
One of the best episodes.
Still love it after all these years classic comedy!!!😂
Edited version. When he says karate means empty hand, Grady said to fill that empty hand with a Smith and Wesson
Am I the only one that wanted to see the quick punch Grady had before Master Splinter did the arm combo???
That guy does have good hand speed.
If someone came at me with the Grady Glide I'd tap out before he landed a single blow
And if he mess with Jojo Jackson he's gonna need all 5 of those belts to lower him into the ground ROTFLMAO🤣😂🤣😭😭😭
let me ask you a question goose.....GUS! See what you can do with this gas.......GUS
I have seen arms broken and heads busted at tournaments i don't need karate for that I can see all that in front of the pool hall lol
It ain't older THAN RUNNING 😅
"You the fool, and Jo-Jo is the proof"! 😅😅😅
While Fred away in St.Louis Grady takes care of the Sanford home and Lamont
Play Gus hitting Grady at 2x speed, you’ll laugh your a** off!
Hilarious 😂😂
When he put the moves on Grady,he reminds me of one of the characters on Yie ar kung-fu, the video game.
Look here. See what you could do with this gas😂😂😂
Another great episode while Fred was in St Louis.
The Grady Guide
Good writing
Who woulda known Achoo would become a Karate legend in a way.
Grampa gray is halarious.
He called him gas 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Let me ask you some thing goose lol 😆 😂
1:41 Oh, yeah? You the fool and Jojo is the proof. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Coincidentally, the Grady episodes were some of the highest rated in the series.
Honestly, I find Grady and Fred being equally funny. Grady was awesome
lol it aint older than runnin LOL
They missed where Grady says he would be better off with a 38 S&W in that empty hand.
Yes -- I noticed that too! But then, some of the TV stations that aired these did cut some parts out of the show, or sometimes entire scenes. I _hate_ when they do that!
Hellyeah..lol
Did they let you ride on the bus like that? 😆
😄If he would've ride on the bus wearing that outfit, I don't think no one will fight him.
@@demetrice7158 Of course, if you rode the bus in NYC with that today, or something even more bizarre...other people would pretty much think nothing of it!
One of my favorite episodes 😂😂😂
Sit down let me ask you something goose, GUS!
Oh lord I hope my Blue Cross is paid up.
I'm with Grady on this one
Lamont karated JoJo in a funny way You go Lamont
They cut out the part where Grady said he would have a better chance if he filled that empty hand with a .38 caliber Smith & West 😂
Yes you are right. That’s a great line. Maybe Richard Pryor or Paul Moony wrote it 😂
This funny🤣😂😂😂😂
It’s not older than runnig
Whitman Mayo died at Grady Health System, Atlanta, GA. 2001
Never knew that...interesting! I always wished that the Mayo Clinic was named after him, but I know that's not true.
Let me ask you something Goose, its Gus!
Jim Kelly lil bro Tim😂
I saw a G.

Grady was funnier than Fred , when Fred was in st.louis..
I wonder why you never see any of those Karate moves in MMA ..lol

Why was the best part taken out?
What's the opponent gonna do while he's warming up?
