Putin’s meatgrinder tactic will hit limit as Russian prisons emptied onto front line | Mark Galeotti

- “They’re losing something like 1200 soldiers a day and they’re not making massive progress.”
There is “a limit” to the amount of resources and manpower Putin can continue to throw at the war in Ukraine, says Russia security expert Mark Galeotti.

If you completely close a prison camp, all the guards become available for military service! Win-win

Although grinding 1k+ lives a day the guards aren't a drop in the ocean and even the prisoners don't plug the hole for long.

it is a scheme for poor families to enhance their social status. In many cases, russian women send their men to sign the contract.
They get it before they are deployed, most of them just give it to their families.
Putin is running out of meat.
Lol. As if Ukraine got plenty of meat available
I'd like some amount of proof to show people but all I find is just ukraine saying it... They said the ghost of Kyiv was real, I can't go by their word

There's only 144 million people in Russia... how can they continue to find soldiers?
That's why world leaders shouldn't be in power for more than 1 or 2 terms...
I'm sure all life Dictators would be only too happy to agree.
Wannabe world leaders like Putin too.
The problem with dictators is that they usually end their life when ending their reign.
this is true for any leader - down to a team lead in a company.

Putin is not a leader, he is a dictator. They tend to stay in power until someone removes them.
Reminds me of the shameful episode in the Vietnam war when the Secretary of state for defence allowed the recruitment of young men who had failed the basic education standards required to serve in the army. The results were predictable.
Robert McNamara was the guy.

Yes, Russia is slowly gaining ground in Donbas, but it does not mean Ukraine is losing. The devastation in the areas Russia "liberates," is such that it would take billions to rebuild. Russia can't afford to do it. What victory is that?
Attrition is taking its toll.
It's called a Pyrrhus victory. And Russians are well known for it.
I read somewhere early in 2023 that Russia should only rebuild a little of Mariupol?!! Now russian propaganda made a video of how nice it is in Mariupol. 90% of houses was hurt. 10% was perhaps unhurt in Mariupol. Potemkinwise picture.
What makes you think Russia can't afford it. .This land is a major source of lithium and investors are lining up behind Russia.
Russia already took 18% of Ukraine but the related area is 23% of the ukrainian GDP before war. Moreover 7M Ukrainians went to Russia... So they also have the workforce... And in the meantime Ukraine lost another big chunk of his workforce leaving for the west ... What's left of Ukrainian GDP? Tell me?

Yep u certainly are that Ivan
It's staggering how week Russia has shown itself to be.
UA also has problem finding men for army and so far russia its better off than UA, and bear in mind, UA is only drip feed by support from those who promised to back UA, and further, UA is not allowed to fight russia in full. So far - in the long run, UA is going to loose to attrition war. So sad but hope EU is ready to embrace the inflow of 10-15 mill. refugees from UA.
Ukraine however has no choice but to fight for survival. Russians are fighting for nothing. Russia might have more people but very few of those want to fight/have fled the country so it's not entirely a numbers game. Imperialist expansion tends to fold however mighty an army thinks it is.
Ukraine also has an international Legion of volunteers. Many have prior military service.

2.that Russian soldiers were graping civilians, (it was proven to be false and zelensky had to blame it on one woman and fire her 😂😂😂she said she told the lie to get ukraine aid)
3.that the snake island soldiers fought bravely to the death against the Russian army, (they all surrendered in a single day)
4. that mariopol wasn't a surrender but a evacuation, 😂😂😂😂
5.that Russian soldiers didn't know what they were doing in Ukraine,
6. that Russia was out of soldiers and were sending untrained children to the Frontline with rusty ak and shovel.
7. that their incursion into belgorod was a success and non of the freedom of Russia Legion wasn't killed (we haven't heard from them since 😂)
8. That Russia didn't destroy any patriot system (we later saw it on video getting blown to smithereens)
9.that the war was in a stalemate (obviously not or france wouldn't want to send troops now)
10. That aid would help them stop Russia (ukraine lost mariopol, bakhmut and marinka when ukraine was still getting aid)
11. They shot down hypersonic missiles
12. That Russia is doing human wave tactics, so they die at a 20:1 ratio vs ukraine, everything in this war is televised except for the meat wave tactics. (it doesn't exist /happen)
13 that Russia is running out of soldiers... The country that closed its borders to block men from leaving and have draft dodgers catching them if they try to leave, is grabbing men from the streets (on video) to send to the Frontline, who has a military ad directed at teenagers, is in need of 500,000 more soldiers and have women in the trenches is ukraine.
