- We're out here on beautiful Vancouver Island, just north of Nanaimo, at a place called Nanoose Bay. It's low tide on the ocean floor and we've got a small rake and we're out clamming and finding oysters.

I like the change of pace ! Mmm..! Clams and oysters!
Just watched this because I am heading out clamming tomorrow for the first time. Stripers and fluke, high tide, then clamming low tide. Great video as always Ivo!
Awesome. Never had fresh oysters or clams. Sweet video, love the variety of videos too.
Great video as always Ivo!
I just went to the same spot and got some lovely clams stoked thanks for the video helped me pinpoint a good spot to go
Got a good harvest there.
nice video,love clamming.
Wow, I only saw one other person in your video! Here on the left coast, super low tides brings out all the wanna bees and the game warden checking for licenses and clam gauges!
Excellent video I think ill be trying this along the Mississippi River
Nice educative video as always
That looks fun and very interesting. Time for another chowder video lol
I never did clamming but I do like eating them. Here in Wisconsin we do have fresh water clams but DNR says you can't eat them or fish for them. Thanks for the video.
This guy is everywere:
In the kitchen, on the lake, in the boat, on the ocean.. and on Vancouver Island
We use shovles and rakes, you are on Snaw-Naw-as also none as nanoose bay thats where I'm from 💜 I hope you enjoyed the clams I miss sea food from home.
Hi IVO - Looks like you have a good amount of clams in your bucket - what time should I come over to eat -
by the way cool hair cut !
Excellent
Very nice video and I like your enthusiasm. One very important thing that you should have mentioned was a safety consideration, You should always check with the department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) to ensure that the place that you want tp go clamming at is not closed due to bacterial or marine toxin contamination. DFO, Environment Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency work together to identify safe areas to harvest.
Do a cooking video with the clams and oysters pls!
Nanoose Bay is a Canadian Navy water missile testing sight , that is used by the American Navy ,
You guys are awesome. Where your buddy at today?
....perhaps next time I go out there, Antonio will come with me :)
Hey good video. When the ice melts I would love to see more videos of the misty minnow, as I have recently purchased one. Do you think you would have much luck in Lake Erie with them?
You are going to love using the Misty Minnow as it works great!! We have a number of videos, and here is one taken on Lake Erie - hope you like it :) ua-cam.com/video/JF7AB6TcN94/v-deo.html

please upload more claming videos
Snot ball on the half shell.
Nothing like Organic!!!!
Hey Quick Question!! Whats the optimal tide height for oyster picking?? What is the maximum tide height to harvest?
low tide is best and you can harvest at any depth, but depths of less than a foot are idea :)
I had heard that you only want to harvest oysters that you find submerged at low tide. Is that correct?
not sure about that, but these were harvested at low tide, so they were underwater a few hours earlier :)
Did you do any salmon fishing while you were out on the west coast?
...not this time....so I guess I may just need to go back :) :) :)
Please do!
can you also do this on the northeast coast I live in Vermont
Hi Mike, you can use this technique anywhere - in fact, if we get a chance to, we will try to do another video sometime, on the east coast :)
thanks I'll be looking for that video
I suppose they should be kept in water if we're taking them to cook at home?
....no need to do that - we brought them home as is - they are o.k. for a few hours with no problem :)
Is there a limit on who many you can harvest
Yes - there is a limit so be sure to check the local regs before you go :) There was actually 3 of us out there that day so we were able to do very well :)
When is the best time for clamming in Nanoose Bay?
my favorite time is late spring/early summer :) But always check the current regulations :)
Show cooking them??!!!
Where is this place?
Hw only said "Nanoose Bay" like 8 times in the fucking video, as well as the description
nice haircut
Good picking. The pacific oysters picked are not as plentiful as it should be. The availability of oysters at Nanoose Bay have truly changed as compared to April 2014 when I was there to pick it. Hundreds and hundreds of oysters were laying on the beach to be picked. I guessed global warming has something to do with it.
Fengshuiman Tan global warming and somehow Trump. Always trump
Oysters don't spread as fast as clams. People over harvest them. My grandpa planted some on his private beach and was always telling someone to get off his beach. They thought they had a right to walk up on a "random" pile of oysters and start loading up. The worst was they would take the shells which is what the babies grow on. Our beaches will be destroyed in another 50 years
Is there any specific address ty
no specific address - just go to Nanoose Bay on Vancouver Island :)
East coast is way way better then the west
