Is there a reason why pro players tend to repeatedly shuffle their own hand? Is it to prevent the enemy from getting a real idea of what you might have or something?
I think the more pro you are, the more you want to "look pro". And fiddling with cards is apparently a sign of "skill". I find it kinda distracting, like if I was in front of him i'd flip from constant shuffling. "DAMNIT YOU HAVE TWO CARDS IN YOUR HAND STOPPPPP"
I think fiddling with their cards is to intimidate the opponent, and make them wonder what the cards might be. the more the cards move, the more your opponent pays attention to it, the more the opponent wonders what it could be.
first, its format, not sector and draft is a format where players are given packs and chooses one card from a pack, passes the pack to the left (or right) so that the next player decides on a card and it continues until there r no mor cards left in the pack
This Kibler kid is so annoying to watch. I thought it was going to be ok when he was down to the single swamp, but then the stupid shit flips it ten times. I mean wtf, how many times do you have to look at it to remember its the same card? Maybe somebody switched it while you were distracted? Check it again 5 seconds from now....still a swamp, ok you're good. Wait, was that a swamp or a forest? Oh, its a swamp. It would take alot of self restraint not to slap him if you had to sit across the table from him. It would be worth a dq lol.
Ive been bluffing giant growths and counterspells for a loooong time. I also understand the purpose of keeping your cards in a different order to avoid tells during discard. You can do it in a much less annoying fashion if you choose. Just admit he has an annoying habit of shuffling his damn cards and move on.
If I didn't know about MtG and at least a little bit about tournament play I'd be totally lost. The display updates are terribly behind what's actually happening. And way to not say who won the match until you were interviewing the guy.
why do people always hate on hand shuffling? you're all talking about some hiddne meaning and looking into it too much. ohhh it's some misderection technique. no. It's just addictive when you start doing it a lot and it becomes a habit that is hard to drop...
I Dont know. habits? jitters? to calm the nerves? the only real purpose it can serve is probably seeing all the cards you have, becuz sometimes I forget I have that one card in my hand lol
its not him consciously doing it over and over its a nevous habbit caused by adhd it helps him think of his next play and keep calm i do it as well and i dont even notice
so people who don't play cards games just fill their time with sex then? I know alot of people who get action and play card games, pokemon, read, oh yeah and your step-sister doesn't count
Zeneki yes don't you know that by not playing a card game you automatically get laid? come on man, common knowledge when you walk up to a chick and you let her know that you don't play a card game, she'll be all over you instantly, nothing else required
One small issue I'd like to make, HOW CAN YOU FUCKING KNOW WHATS GOING ON WHEN YOU CAN'T SEE ANY OF THE FUCKING CARDS?!?!?! I don't 2 shits about Magic but I'd assume one needs to actually SEE the cards to know what the player is doing. This is the literally the equivalent of watching Poker, but if the Camera was idiotically placed so far away that no one can even see the cards and are Instead were left trying to disseminate the manic ramblings of announcers more concerned with what the players are talking about then what's actually happening.
You couldn't be more wrong about these guys having "no girlfriends". Brian is a friend of mine and he has a beautiful girlfriend. He's was also a nationally ranked wrestler, so he could kick your ass too. ;)
Just because you can wrestle doesn't mean you can fight. All wrestling is,is grappling. Put a wrestler from the Olympics and a boxer in a fight and I guarantee the boxer will win.
Kenny Chwilka I know him personally though. He isn't just "some guy". I also think you have no idea what you're talking about regarding a boxer vs. a wrestler. Have you ever been in a fight? Sport or for real? I've been in many of both and I'll go with the wrestler over the boxer 10 out of 10 times. Wrestler shoots in and hits a double leg, boxer goes on his ass hard and then the wrestler tears off a limb or simply chokes them unconscious.
Chris Bolduc Rowan As a matter of fact I have been in a fight before. It was in box lacrosse. Although you have a point about a wrestler shooting on for the legs, boxers are very quick and light on their feet and I'm sure they have the reflexes to get out of the way or dodge it.
gonzotopia1 Wrestlers are as well. Grappling is all about position, quickness, and technique. It's a game of inches. They aren't big oafy clods. Boxers don't train takedown defense either, so if they get grabbed (which is almost surely to happen) they're not going to be able to defend themselves adequately. I've done a lot of both grappling and striking and in my opinion, grappling is superior, as you can much more easily turn a fight into a grappling match, over keeping it a striking match.
Oh ma gawd, i hate this Kibler so much, even if he has a mental Disorder does not allow to Shuffle so f*cking noisy, this is a player i just would not like to have as enemy
I hate these guys that shuffle all the time! Is that really necessary!!!? Hyperactive persons, geeks, call it whatever you want! It would go on my nerves playing against someone like that! Maybe thats the goal from them but....its still freaky! Just relax and chill out playing it!!! You will live longer if you do....
I came here directly from South Park, and my god... They were spot on.
yeah same, had to see what this magic gather is...
19 jealous people can't hand shuffle as well as Brian.
Fucking carnage bro. This is like the manliest shit I have ever watched.
Oh man shuffling your hand becomes an awful habit if you keep doing it lol
I can't take it. This is more excitement than the human brain has been designed to handle!
great coverage =) keeps getting better! like that they keep quiet so we can hear the pros
coversation
Why dont they zoom the cards that they are playing :( ? I see nothing.
because we all know what the cards do!
Afreen Afrose not everybody knows. there are some noobs
But that's exactly what a noob is.
Not to be a noob about it, but why does Kibler keep shuffling his hand so damn much? Why can't he just fan his cards so he can see them all?
oh my god that constant fiddling with their hands is annoying. LEAVE THE DAMN CARDS ALONE! and play the freaking game.
I was thinking the same thing. It got so annoying that I almost changed the video. Holy Shit!
exactly what is meant to do but to the opponent its so hard to concentrate when the opponent is doing that
I'd get disqualified because i'd smack my opponent in the mouth.
Ohhh now i got it :) thank you very much!
Match 1 - Brian Kibler vs Ben Stark
Game 1 1:10
Game 2 21:10
one of the most dominant decks of all time
wow, i never knew you could shuffle so much that you would start sweating 8^O
The one announcer sounds like Hutch.
You explained it was a draft in another comment.. why would anyone (how, even) play Bant, or hexproof?
WHy the heck are they shuffling cards in their hands? :D

Had to stop watching one match because the shuffling was driving me fuckin crazy. Flicking their cards about like poker chips >_
i think fiddling with cards is a misdirection technique.
I think fiddling with their cards is to intimidate the opponent, and make them wonder what the cards might be. the more the cards move, the more your opponent pays attention to it, the more the opponent wonders what it could be.
what the fuck is going on
***** fuck you Xur...stop watching youtube and sell a god damn ice breaker next week!
***** Lol Destiny FTW!

Would prefer to hear their banter than the commentator, especially if he's just advertising. Instead of repeating them let us listen...
I like going to mtg drafts and putting my cards face down in defense mode. The rage.
1-3 Modern Masters draft
4-6 Standard
7-9 M14 draft
10-12 Modern
Sorry im new to this Sector, draft means that the decks are randomed?
Why are magic players constantly shuffling cards so fast?
It keeps you busy so you wont space out, it also shuffles your hand so your opponent wont know what you have
Because they’re all eating bare Ritalin

Kid? He's been on the Pro Tour longer than some kids playing have been alive. Calm down. It's just a noise.
He did it to make the other guy think he had something other than a swamp in his hand. Its a mind game.

He definitely shuffles his hand a lot. I don't see why it'd bother someone so bad.
If I didn't know about MtG and at least a little bit about tournament play I'd be totally lost. The display updates are terribly behind what's actually happening. And way to not say who won the match until you were interviewing the guy.
You have 2 damn cards stop shuffling
Exactly
its just him trying to concentrate...
It's just epic how fast he is doing it :D
But which is which?
minute 25 to 27... director was on the toilet?
why do people always hate on hand shuffling? you're all talking about some hiddne meaning and looking into it too much. ohhh it's some misderection technique. no. It's just addictive when you start doing it a lot and it becomes a habit that is hard to drop...
If you're a pro you should learn to focus on the match. Not on some shitty noise. I think he can go into a flow while shuffling or just bad habit.
It's a game that challenges your brain as you try to beat your opponent. You must not do that much.
How come some one gave him a random card?
Or am i just seeing things...!!!!
So Magic The Gathering is like Yu Gi Oh right?
Why the hell do they shuffle so much
the swooshing Kibler noises… cock magic
I Dont know. habits? jitters? to calm the nerves? the only real purpose it can serve is probably seeing all the cards you have, becuz sometimes I forget I have that one card in my hand lol
I thought Kibler would have played the red deck wtf?!? There was a video about him explaining that deck he was fighting
He is shuffling to distract his opponent.
So their opponent can't follow what they have in there hand or what they just drew.
Kibler, if you didnt have sleeves on those cards, you'd have burned those cards out so fast lol
this is draft not standard
They just want to disturb and trick their opponent so he doesn't do the right plays
whish isnt so sportsmanlike and fair
its not him consciously doing it over and over its a nevous habbit caused by adhd it helps him think of his next play and keep calm i do it as well and i dont even notice
He should shuffle it more...
But Resolves the last
Noooo Kibler!
The battle of the virgins
so people who don't play cards games just fill their time with sex then? I know alot of people who get action and play card games, pokemon, read, oh yeah and your step-sister doesn't count

Ashiok U B haha i'll try it for a few days then go back playing
One small issue I'd like to make, HOW CAN YOU FUCKING KNOW WHATS GOING ON WHEN YOU CAN'T SEE ANY OF THE FUCKING CARDS?!?!?! Ben Stark is hot!

Lol? its the largest/most popular playing card game in the world... that speaks for it self.
this is so weird
