I love Patrick's showmanship, bringing up the crazy scenario of stealing the Pharika's Cure. I once used Nykthos to cast Pharika's Cure in a draft. I had drawn only one swamp and had one black creature on the field. I tapped two islands and the Nykthos to get a single black mana to get enough to pay the double black for Pharika's Cure.
hopefully after GTs protest and listening to Zach and Brian will give some thoughts to you guys :) it was productive and truly not offensive, let make MTG amazing again!
Depends on your playstyle, and white/green is a pretty powerful archetype for aggro. Voice of Resurgence puts it over the top but even without that card (which I assume you won't want to spend upwards of 35 dollars to buy) combinations of Fleecemane Lion, Loxodon Smiter and Polukranos makes a pretty sick curve.
I was hoping to see Kibler play, but hearing him in the booth made me think that having a player like Kibler in the booth would be a great addition. Unfortunately I understand that they would prolly rather be playing lol
what card could kai get from Chapins deck at 29:30 to live? something carabid/pyramid or something? cant hear it clearly and the guys in the booth are too busy screaming to name the card properly.
I could enjoy that video much more if they would shortly show every card that is played. I am quite interested in nice games but I don't know all cards and their effects by heart.
Hello, thanks for the answers. But most of the time they do not mention the names of cards they think, everybody knows, and the name is too small to read, even in HR. How can I find it? I can only guess like "he put it out without paying mana, so it's probably a land" or "he casted it and removed a creature". Of course it's possible to somehow find the cards, but this spoils the experience for me because I have to invest some minutes of search per card :(
He could hit the one-of Phyraika's Cure in order to gain 2 life to live through the Obzedat, Ghost Council ETB trigger. He can cast it using Nyxthos because he can add BBB to his mana pool from his devotion to black from Nightveil Specter
If Kamiel plays the second Nyktos after he add 4 red mana, and ash zealot he have access to 6 more red mana source play phosphorus and have magma get online.
Jmonster77 From the WotC website: "Updated September 27, 2013 Constructed decks must contain a minimum of sixty cards. There is no maximum deck size; however, you must be able to shuffle your deck with no assistance. If a player wishes to use a sideboard, it must have fifteen or less cards. With the exception of basic land cards, a player’s combined deck and sideboard may not contain more than four of any individual card, counted by its English card title equivalent. All cards named Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, and Forest are basic. The following card sets are permitted in Standard tournaments: Return to Ravnica Gatecrash Dragon's Maze Magic 2014 Theros Born of the Gods (effective February 7, 2014) There are no cards banned in Standard tournaments." Turn//Burn is from Dragon's Maze, which is still in the Standard Block, so it is legal to play in Standard Constructed.
acquineus It's no longer part of the rules, because it was decided that it didn't serve any real function--it increased complexity without adding anything to the game, which is pretty much the definition of a bad rule. If it was legal, there wouldn't be an option to not use it. And no, these players wouldn't "go down quickly." That's rather silly. Especially since these guys were playing professionally long before mana burn was removed.
I'm sorry, your right. These players are professionals, but 20 years ago, players built mana burn decks. Anyway I'm just a small time player, I love the game, but don't like all these expansions coming out every year. Thanks for your input.
I loved this format.
What I'd do to be able to just kick back with Patrick Chapin/Kai Budde and learn from them... they are both masters of the mental game.

Loving kibler in the booth, he should do the same as lsv and commentate when he gets knocked out of the PT
Patrick is a cool fuggin guy. Plays at my LGS sometimes, always friendly, softer spoken than I expected.
Sad the video ends before the deck tech:(
Liking Kibler doing the commentary. Much better than Zac (sorry Zac!).
kibbler should totally pull a LSV and be a regular commentator. He has a great voice for it.

Just getting into magic and was looking for some advice? Is a white/green deck a good choice?
Great Match--Chapin is playing so smoothly.
Reid Duke & Kamiel Cornelissen game three starts at ~30:00
I was hoping to see Kibler play, but hearing him in the booth made me think that having a player like Kibler in the booth would be a great addition. Unfortunately I understand that they would prolly rather be playing lol
I don't even play standard, and I'm happy that Thragtusk rotated out. It was annoying to even watch

.....gooogle?
Galdiir
Hi Galdir, I don't get how google can help me identifying a card that I see on the table and whose name I don't know. What do you mean?
They show their hands relatively frequently, just keep a tab open with cardkingdom and search them

Alex Holmann
ahh, you mean in the side bar? Ok, that's true, I could probably get 70% of the card names from there.
Didn't they used to use 4 for Pro Tours?
Wow. Nykthos is even better than I thought it would be. More than half of the top 8 decks have that card.
what happened to the audio?
Turned away when Thoughtseize was being cast - looked back at a board full of blue goodies and was like 'wtf?! how?!'

I'm ready to see something good.
soooo why in the hell did he keep a one land hand with a mono aggro deck...
ah, of course. thanks!
30:16 Chapin trolled Budde so hard
I hope Kibler becomes a regular commentator
but 3 people in the booth is to much
I was just about to mention trading posti n the comments when I heard him say it :P

It was a Hero's Downfall.
20:00 - 21:10 wow who messes up life?
he would have to devour one of his own creatures causing thassa to become in active
I know no deck runs it, but turn//burn kills the gods :)
so does erase
James Hall not standard legal

Wow.... Budde vs Chapin - talk about 2 of the greats playing each other
If he fliped devot flesh i
Would quit magic
Love Kibler
Patrick room bladed a nightvsle spectre, you cant do that.
this was too fun for a match. too casual between 2 HOFs. lol.
To bad they took away mana burn! Most of these players would go down quickly!
I am not sure, but I am fairly certain that mana burn is legal. just not used.
