Wasn't sure about the gold Jeff , but once I saw it against the black tyre it really works. Also give that tank a good shake with some nuts and bolts in. Mike
Thanks Mike, I did think of other colours, but gold kept coming in to my head. Haven't filmed the next Cimatti video yet, but I have problems with that. The tank has not come out too bad but I left sitting for a few days and wondered why there was a little bit of vinegar underneath. Unfortunately there was a small hole and after rubbing down I got a few more. It has rusted a bit from the outside. Just waiting for some brazing sticks so hopefully not all is lost. Take care, Jeff
@@DiecastPowderCoating Nice to hear your repairing it properly Jeff with brazing. If all else fail "Flowcoat" is a fantastic 2 part tank liner if its just pin holes. Possibly be prudent to line it even if you braze it because its clearly thin and weak in places . Mike
@@mikeg8835 Thanks for the info Mike. It will be the first time brazing so anything could go wrong knowing my luck. I saw a video of someone who brazed a thin copper strip over it. I was thinking of brazing the holes first and then braze the copper plate over the top for double protection. As you know I'm no expert, just an idea. Thanks again, Jeff
Thanks Alan, he can't do anything with a car apart from wash it. When I was young kid I was outside helping my dad, because I wanted to learn about them. I don't know if it is a generational thing, but I think most young people have no interest. Take care, Jeff
Thanks Martin, I wasn't sure about the gold before, but I couldn't get it out of my mind. I few petrol tank issues now, I few little holes. It will be my first time at brazing, just waiting for the sticks. What could go wrong? Take care, Jeff
hey jeff.... thanks for the vid..... I have used nuts and washers before as suggested by mike.....it works ok....but I have also tried Molasses after I saw one of Henry Coles Programmes and Sam Lovegrove suggested its the best way.....that also worked ok but tooka bit of flushing!...... I really need to get on with stuff!!
Hi Adam, I used a few small pebbles in the end and the inside hasn't come out not too bad. As I said to Mike unfortunately the tank developed a small leak with a small rust hole. After sanding it down a bit I've got a few more holes. It is rusted from the outside. It's only in one little area, so are just waiting for some brazing stick. It's the first time I've used them so anything could happen. Take care, Jeff
Hi Jeff we like the gold its going to look smart. Love to Jenny Chow! Xx
Hi Sue, thank you I hope I made the right decision with gold.
Jenny sends her love. xx
