Really sorry about Sev Telly. I love my dogs more than most people I know. We lost one of our dogs back in November of 2014 and it was tough for a while, even the other dog was gutted for months. But life keeps moving along and the memories will alway survive. Made me emotional as well listening to you talk about Sev. Stay strong Telly and cherish the memories of the time you had together.
Could've not said any better! I've buried three best friends now and the last one was just too much. I was there when he was born and I was the one who had to make the decision when was his final day. That just broke my heart. Nearing the end I would've gladly given half of my days (that I have left) to him if there would've been such a possibility. It's been five years now and still I tear up every time I think of him.
Sev was a dude. Loved watching him cruise through shot in your posts. Dogs are all about the love. Feelin for ya. I went from Assegais to Onza Aquila. Seriously tough but gotta lean them over into the corners. Took a while to get used to it. They recover from a wash out better than Assegai I reckon
Good to see you back on the Vlog mate. Know what you’re saying about the rear, I’m back and forth now after a bit of time on the CR and found a few downsides where my frame likes a bit more support from the air shock when I’m not descending so I’m back on the merry-go round and am running the DPX2 again. Atleast my fork feels killer. Looking forward to watching the new bike build 🤘🏽
Any links to the Maxx Terra DHR2 DH tyre? That'll be awesome if they do release in TR DH casing. I'll run that out back for sure. The Maxx grip just doesn't last.
I'm truly sorry for your loss. 💔 If you love someone from the bottom of your heart it really doesn't matter what species they are and this is something that some people just don't get. To me dogs are easily more worthy of our love than most people. They don't have a mean bone in their body as long as you treat them right, their love is unconditional and they are always there for you - the best and most faithful friends that one can ask for.
Mr.Telly, what's your opinion on using coil on true single pivot? Recently got a new bike (Orange stage6) and the stock DPX2 blew up, so looking for something new. Was wondering if a coil might do the trick, as the bike really likes to ride in the mid stroke a lot. Perhaps the bottom out bumper will be sufficient controlling the end stroke?
I’m not sure. I assume it will work ok, but cant speak to the considerations of a single pivot design. Experiment with different spring rates and see what it teaches you. You’d have to consider the progression of the suspension design before making a move to coil though. Any idea how progressive that setup is?
@@mtbtelly5522 its pretty much bang on linear, but the leverage on the susension is quite high (469 chainstays, 210x55 shock, 150mm travel (i know it's long, but it doesnt feel like that on the trail)) and the antisquat is above 100% even in the small sprockets. I've seen some discussion on that the coil on such suspension designs might lack in the bottom out department, but it is much harder to reach the bottom out to begin with. I mostly ride steep and wet tech as well, so grip is king, and not a lot of big hits or massive jumps around.
@@laurynasjagelo5075 ok, maybe the air shock is the go. If it is linear you’ll find you have to run quite a firm spring rate to keep it off the bottom with a standard coil. Which will have you running less sag and will negatively effect the handling of the bike. I’d assess what spacer you have in the dpx 2 and how much sag you need to run to bottom it out on a fast run. If you’re deep in the sag and clipping pedals you’ll want to lower the token volume and increase pressure a little to get max grip and performance. If you like the ride height you get at your bottom out pressure then add a couple of psi and ride it there. Keep your rebound fast but not wild, you should be able to find something close from there
@@mtbtelly5522 i've got the D555 tuned dpx2; it came with 0.9 token, but I swaped for 0.6 and ~215psi which gives me ~31% sag. 9 rebound clicks from open. Feels great tbh and I use the full travel often but yet to hear a 'clunk' on bottoming out. Maybe the only slight "downside" is that i feel that I need to charge everything hard to generate grip with this shock. Running less pressure / more tokens makes it wallowy through first half of travel. Maybe it's just me? Might just stick with the dpx tho. Cheers for the feedback.
@@laurynasjagelo5075 go with the .4 spacer, and find the same support feeling, and you should be able to enjoy a little more grip. .2 might be perfect, but depends whether it puts you to high in the ride height to corner well. It will give you the smoothest ride from that shock, but its gotta match the kinomatics of the frame to work in harmony

DHF rolls better, lasts longer and is more predictable, but lacks transition grip. Assegai has better grip in almost all conditions but in dusty conditions, it's in my opinion less predictable than the DHF.
I ran the dhf for over a decade and just started on the assegai with maxgrip, assegai definitely has more grip. I still find tons of grip leaned over. I love it.
