Any artist that works with Dr. Luke won't get my support and on Katy case especially because she was Kesha friend and didn't support Kesha at the time and turned her back on her. i also didn't supported Doja Cat and Kim Petras.
Someone said it best in a comment on another video...we millenials were her core audience during her first album runs, we've grown, became parents, work full-time soul sucking jobs, we're living paycheck to paycheck, living in one of the most politically tumultuous times, etc...im almost the same age as KP and ahes just out of touch with her peers. Still with the goofy antics trying to pass it off as satire, which was really her excuse to show off her new ozempic bod...we can't relate. Taylor writes and performs her actually sincere music, and her fans appreciate that, hence her continuing massive success. We're rooting for her because she's made us care about her journey. Katy hasnt learned that colorful over the top videos dont cut it anymore, us grown ass adults want substance.
I like your perspective and I understand. I think that with "Smile" she was using her personal experience in her music, but she made a huge 180 here. Like you say, she's not relatable at all now, which is not bad if you own it and you don't try to make it a woman empowerment song or a satire
@@LEO_IS_VIBINGG yessss!!! the rumour is the nun passed away begging for katy not to get their property. Then an old man also claimed something similar. His case was different bc he sold but once he found out who she was, he didnt wanna sell anymore.
I think the sad truth is she's just not that smart, at least as an artist. Her career was at its peak when it was bubblegum fun, and ever since she's tried to be more than that she's struggled, not just with audiences but critics too. She wants to say something, but she just doesn’t have much to say.
another thing other people pointed out is that she doesn't seem to hold her beliefs too strongly, in the sense that she wants to please all the audiences. for example, during the her witness era she got a short haircut to apparently look more "woke", even ditching the black dye and embracing her natural blonde hair, but the moment the reactions for it weren't as warm as she wanted, she immediately went to grow her hair out. not to mention her on-the-fence statements of "listening to both sides", which didn't work then and definitely don't work now. she wants to be loved by literally everyone, and as an artist, it's literally impossible.
That guy from American Idol was just being nice and polite after the fact. He didn't deserve to have his personal space and life wishes invaded and disturbed like that. I'm guessing he was scared of the backlash and aggressive hate he would get comeing out with this as a guy and accusing a celebrity.
Quite a few people are mentioning this story but it's the first time I'm hearing about it and it didn't pop up in my research 🫢 I'll make a TikTok about it damn
I think there is a thing about Kate that has been bugging me for years is that she seemed to ~really~ believe that being camp is the same as doing goofy things, so the gays will love you. For me, this is a problem ever since her Witness era. Because Kate Perry, until at that point, had showed us that she could be irreverent and fun, but also make some serious music, and have a very mature persona when the songs demanded it. We could tell when she was “doing the satire”. But the Witness roll out just kinda changed all that. You can’t achieve camp, by coping dead memes and trying to be relatable. You either are relatable or you are camp. Trying to be playful when the song you’re singing has not a drop of sarcasm, not even from the music video. It’s a failure. Is trying to cover your lack though, with irreverence. Men writing a feminine empowering anthem, where one producer is an *allegedly*, an abuser. It’s a bad joke, it’s one we told ever since the late 2010’s. So why? How out of touch you need to be to not realize that?
Thanks for posting about B-M! We like to watch reactions, reviews, comments for various reasons. Producers, sound engineers, inform us about technicalities. Grizzled old rockers help compare to past artists. Musicians pick out interesting segments. But what most fans enjoy is watching a song or album along with someone else. Your reactions are great! Dancing, pulling faces, emotions...Great to watch. But...here you show such intelligence, thoughtfulness. It was a pleasure to watch this video! For the band...Great, as you are of the demographic they need to attract. For us...great to see someone produce such great videos! There are a few B-M ..or JRock...channels on UA-cam but...they don't work as the people, although fans, just don't have the personalities or attributes for the job. You...are quick witted, speak brilliantly, empathetically, intelligently. You seem to have the talent to work for a mainstream TV station but, in the meantime, you should join one of the JRock channels or, even better, set up your own! You are really good at this! Good luck with your future endeavours. 😊
It breaks my heart Cyn is signed to Katy Perry's label and completely changed her style and branding these past 2 years to fit some social media mold they think will work to make her viral. I really think she would've made it already if it wasn't for her label and being associated to Katy.
Very interesting and cool video! I personally wasn't even aware how successful Katy Perry was until I watched your video. And boii, did it make me feel old. I never realized I was already 16 (or possibly even older) when Katy Perry got big. At that time, I had already turned away from pop music to listen to Rock, Metal and the like, and while I did know about Katy Perry and that she was successful (even I knew some of her songs despite not voluntarily listening to pop music; she also had that Sims 3 colab! I FEEL SO OLD 😭) I didn't realize she was that big of a deal. I remember talking to a friend at that time, who had the same taste in music and we were talking about some "weird popstars". I literally said to him that's it's kind of a bad timing for Katy Perry with all her wild and flashy costumes, as she would've been the next big thing if only there wasn't a Lady Gaga to steal the show with even more over-the-top costumes. And until today, I still held that belief that Katy Perry would've been that crazy girl, (in)famous for her wild and creative costumes, if only she wouldn't have been outclassed by Miss Gaga. Apparently, I was wrong. (No hate though, while I do like Lady Gaga's music much more than Katy Perry's, I am not saying that Lady Gaga is objectively the better artist. Her fashion/style was just way more out there and back in the day, I honestly thought that for both of these women, that was what got them famous. It surely wasn't.)
I didn't hate the way Woman's World sounds actually kind of liked it but then I realized who wrote it and now I'm just cringing at this feminism song because it's written by a guy who hates women and likes to use them for his own gain and I'm just wondering why Katie is working with him especially to write a song about feminism and I don't think she's signed on to him so I don't think she has any excuse for working with a person who has take an advantage of women like Kesha but I guess that she's just like all the other really rich people who don't don't do a background check on who they work with because they're just that morally inept
for me it looked like a little of a panic move, since dr. luke is still a very talented composer and not only he composed almost all of katy's biggest hits, but he also produced other smash hits as well (i.e doja cat's say so), so it's possible she associates him with instant success. too bad she seemingly overlooked his reputation in the industry in the moment.
@@northrnstar I agree with you, I think the goal was to come back with hits and an album that would perform well (edit to add this). Which is understandable, you don't work this hard in an industry to flop, but yeah beter producer choices were available for sure lol
I liked the snippet of Lifetimes and that it was made for her daughter till I found out who produced it but I know most people may not care and it may be way more successful than WW

I also dont think these artists have much creativity nowadays. Like they will be good for 5 years and then all of a sudden there is a massive fall off as they cant evolve. The artists also get older and with that you have evolve the themes of your songs.
I am not a taylor swift fan. I do believe that in a post-1989 pop landscape, taylor fit the particular niche katy inhabited from there on out. In a more authentic and effective way then she did. And the strength of her fanbase cant be ignored. It rendered katy unnecessary because truly she was never that great. Her foundation was hollow but a lot of people were blinded by the success
Ever since Katy Perry released "Feels", she's only been giving Outdated. It kind of feels like she's trying to fit in with the younger generation (even though she isnt that old!) and just doesnt know how to. Idk, I'm not a fan. "Coconuts" felt weird, too. Catchy, but weird.

Not rooting for nepo baby Taylor either....
I like your perspective and I understand. I think that with "Smile" she was using her personal experience in her music, but she made a huge 180 here. Like you say, she's not relatable at all now, which is not bad if you own it and you don't try to make it a woman empowerment song or a satire
@Ciritheragdoll Wait!...She's a nepo baby? I didn't know that. No wonder she's so overexposed. Who are her parents?
Well said. I’m really Taylor fan though I I understand the comparison
Forgot to mention the controversy with the nuns that didn't want to sell her a property, and the nun ended up dying 👀
😳😳😳 what ???
@@LEO_IS_VIBINGG yessss!!! the rumour is the nun passed away begging for katy not to get their property. Then an old man also claimed something similar.
His case was different bc he sold but once he found out who she was, he didnt wanna sell anymore.
noun??
@@RomeroRomeral They mean nun
And I believe the nuns didn't wanna sell because it was considered holy land, and they "knew" that Katy was into dark magic 👀
You didn't mention Katy Perry's legal battle over property with the nuns.
Quite a few people are mentioning this story but it's the first time I'm hearing about it and it didn't pop up in my research 🫢 I'll make a TikTok about it damn
off topic to the video but your voice is literally so nice to listen to. i could fall asleep to this video fr
Interesting perspective! I was listening to her more in 2018 and I was certain she would blow up, she has so many qualities to be a known indie artist
@@LEO_IS_VIBINGG the mood swing era was amazing!

Great video! I hope that you’ve been able to take a nice break after such a well planned and detailed video you created ❤
this is a very sweet comment thank you very much 🩷
Really appreciated the video!!! Love your thoughtful analysis! Also, where are you from?? Your accent is so cool!!
Thank you from your kind words :) I'm French, my accent isn't too strong but yeah I can't fool people into believing I'm a native haha
Oh shit up. Feminism has been controlled by men since before the Foxx sisters. You kids know NOTHING.
for me it looked like a little of a panic move, since dr. luke is still a very talented composer and not only he composed almost all of katy's biggest hits, but he also produced other smash hits as well (i.e doja cat's say so), so it's possible she associates him with instant success. too bad she seemingly overlooked his reputation in the industry in the moment.
Love this deep dive!
Thank you ☺️ I spent quite a bit of time on it so I'm glad people found it interesting
With peace and love, the time code to skip over the Dr Luke controversy was never put in the video. Other than that, this is an AMAZING deep dive 💕💕
Thank you for pointing it out, I wanted to put it last but apparently I forgot before exporting the video. I hope the time codes I put in the description help, if it doesn't I'll put a new one so people can click.

I also dont think these artists have much creativity nowadays. Like they will be good for 5 years and then all of a sudden there is a massive fall off as they cant evolve. The artists also get older and with that you have evolve the themes of your songs.
That's a tiiiiiny tiny mic,😅 🎤 it's adorable!

Her foundation was hollow but a lot of people were blinded by the success
her album cover for 143 reminds me a LOT of Arca’s cyborg-woman gimmick, and it feels like she’s ripping her off. anyways stan arca 🫶
Ever since Katy Perry released "Feels", she's only been giving Outdated. It kind of feels like she's trying to fit in with the younger generation (even though she isnt that old!) and just doesnt know how to. Idk, I'm not a fan. "Coconuts" felt weird, too. Catchy, but weird.
your barbie theory sounds spot on as well
I mean i never liked Katy Perry. I listened to a lot of her 2010s songs but as an artist she always seemed tasteless. When she decided to sue that poor woman for her name, for me it was final nail in the coffin and i never listened to her again. I found out about her latest song through yt commentary vids lol
I think she is just not that clever 🤷
Maybe it was for Barbie cause Cyn said she sent a song for Barbie but was rejected and then like a few days ago Cyn made a tweet shading the movie Barbie, her and Katy are very close and good friends so idk
@@ClarisaAguayo-m2n oh that's very interesting! I had no idea Cyn also tried to give a song for the Barbie movie. But yeah the vibes of the song are very Barbie !!

The teenage dream SA actor had many actors from the video saying the man was lying. I never want to be the person to say someone was allegedly SAed wasn’t, but with no witness. Idk just seems wrong to report on it but now dig deeper into the story, it leads to people being miss educated and drawing conclusions without researching. Good video though
She still forced a very young and extremely uncomfortable contestant to kiss her. She clearly has trouble respecting boundaries.
I reported about the controversy at the time, stating he accused her, I think this is sticking to the truth. If it's proven he lied, this is still true that he accused her and that it was a controversy back then. Her legal team seems strong so if she fights him with a defamation lawsuit I'll also report it.
🤔🤔🤔Just here to say HELLO 👋
Helloooooooooooo
I used to listen to katie a lot when i was a child, now i dont like her music anymore but its insane that ppl hate her for this, i feel so bad for her:(
why do u feel bad for someoone working for an abuser??
It's perfectly reasonable for people to hate her for working with Dr. Luke. There is no need to feel bad for her.
🎉
👋👋
people miss the fact that katy perry is a puppet. she looks so fake and everything she does looks so robotic. i think shes just a doll on strings and shes pushed around doing whatever being told to do.
the song is CHEEKS but the video was quite entertaining as a satirical piece. i genuinely hope shes doing more stuff like this on the album EXCEPT WITH ACTUAL GOOD MUSIC
The problem is that I don't think it was intended as satire.
I honestly don't understand what she is criticising if this is a satire, as I said to me this looks like mocking liberal feminism
@@LEO_IS_VIBINGGShe has a pretty conservative political record so, chances are she might be mocking feminism and just doesn't want to be cancelled for it.

Could it be a saltire on the music industry, and what happens when it tries to portray female empowerment but uses sex to sell the product? I mean, even if that wasn't the intention it makes the point. She is making a parody of her own exploitation. It's tough to watch.
Ancient egypt doesn't exist anymore hints the term ancient. Can artist not art. Also, there is a difference between appreciation and appropriation. I'm not a huge fan of Katy Perry (her interview with Tyson still makes me cringe)
I'm listing controversies that impacted her and contributed to the blow to her public image and career. No matter the right or wrong of these controversies, they still impacted her, thus need to be mentioned in the timeline of things that impacted her career.
Katy Perry was one of the highlights of your childhood? Wow. Did you grow up in a cellar; entirely devoid of human communication; and kept in the dark, with only a single listening of 'Teenage Dream' permitted every month? Because I cannot for the life of me comprehend any other kind of existence where Katy Perry would ever be the highlight of anything other than Katy Perry's own life.
are you good?

I dont see you talking about how gaga and many other celebrities worked with guilty r4pists in the industry. This is just full of hipocrisy. Thats the joke.
Wtf are you on about? This is a video about Katy Perry so she’s talking about how Katy Perry worked with dr Luke. Why would she go into detail about anyone else in a video about a specific person?
I don’t think you have any idea what hypocrisy means
