Edit: I think some nuance is being lost here, so just a little reminder, this is just speculation. Seasonal wipes and bots haven't been announced in any capacity, and all the sections of the video are meant to give you the context of the bot discussion. If they wanna add bots keep it to its own game mode. I enjoy hunt cause of how rewarding it is to go against other players. Adding bots kinda diminishes that competitiveness I enjoy.
Think they should something different from hunters so they are easy to tell the difference from AI and player. Unless the game starts dying and we need AI to fill servers. 😂
I can't think of a way they could make bots work well in this game tbh I don't see a balanced way it'd be extremely hard to not make them op while not making them horrible
@@Monkeey1 it really depends on how they detect enemies I think and how strict their detection system is plus the game is so unique and intricate that it would be extremely hard to emulate what a real person would play like and why they would do so accurately. What I do think would be fun is like a different game mode where there's ai hunters or like add a new ai enemy with a gun that they can actually use at range. Although neither of these would fix the problem they'd be trying to fix by adding bots so I really don't know how they could implement it but I'd like to see. So far it's an amazing game I love playing it.
I don't think I'd continue playing if they add seasonal wipes. I like the idea that people who like the grind can but don't necessarily have to unlock everything. Once you add wipes the perma death loses all its meaning for me. Plus the people who grind it all are gonna be the same people who are currently rich. This creates the same problem but they can't even use the end game weapons without getting blasted for awhile first.
@@PHYLOgg My thoughts exactly, I do think that some people would enjoy more prestiges though. I think wipes work better in a game where one match can be a massive break to get you nearly everything you need. Hunt just doesn't have that kinda grind. I think it'll force more people to drop the game. I understand the people who get killed by rich people weapons a lot but they killed people to earn and use them. One shotgun blast and they lose it. It's the give and take of a hardcore extraction. For me, that's part of the game and part of the fun.
What if the wipe is just for hunt dollars? I think that's the bigger issue. People who have been playing this game from day one are sitting on a pile of cash and can run the best weapon in with the best special ammo and the best gear each and every time they go into a match. Or there needs to be sone kind of "tax". Something that makes rich play spend more hunt dollars than poorer players have to.
I agree. One of the reasons I like the prestige system (despite me wanting some more fun rewards) is that it is on my terms. Sometimes I like to burn through my thousands of hunt bucks at the end, other times I just want to get through the next prestige and see how fast I can do it. I play other games that wipe, and when we get closer to the wipe cycle end, I get less and less interested in what the game has to offer. To me, it's like eating a baked sweet vs having a nice cooked meal. The sweet is satisfying at the beginning, but leaves me hungry later, whereas the meal might not have that burst of sweetness, but it is going to satiate my appetite for longer.
But do you have the Last Resort? I feel like I'm one of, like, 13 people who have gotten 90 stars in trials. I think it made me better, but I'm still a hard low-three star. 600 hours in and I think I'm getting worse. I'm still having fun, though.
Tarkov style wipes would be really awkward in hunt. Maybe they could add a heavily incentivized but optional wipe that isn't tied to levels with permanent unlocks or something. In regards to the bots however, I really hope they wouldn't be replacing actual players in any way. Having them defend clues or compounds sounds neat to me though, maybe they could even have them chase after the roaming bounty target they might add.
if instead of wipes they just did a wallet wipe/bought weapons wipe I'd be more happy. I dont care to re-unlock every weapon especially when events have ammo/type specific challenges that take enough time already let alone needing to unlock a weapon just to do it. But if all they did was take my cash and weapons I'd be less upset. Idk how it would balance with people who have 20+ hunters. Personally I'd say: Keep whatever hunters exist and their levels, all weapons are sold, hunt dollars reset to 10k. Happens every 3-6 months
I agree, I mean tarkov wipes don't even work in tarkov it's just a shit solution for a shit system. Wipes never feel rewarding especially in games where the progression stays the same. Having to grind through the same unlocks and same shitty quests to unlock the same stuff over and over just doesnt feel right. I persoanlly find hunt more enjoyable when I have everything unlocked and can freely choose my loadouts (apart from money). The game play makes hunt great not some sense of progression and grind. But I also like the idea of optional self inflicted wipes via prestiges or like seasonal leagues or something. Like you can choose to wipe and then you can enter a league that tracks progress and gets you rewards or something like that.
I love the idea of bots for custom maps to practice and chill. A bit less to mix real players and bots (but it could work, who knows). What I _don't_ like are wipes. What I really love about hunt it's to change loadout and play whatever I feel, anytime I want. I don't really want to grind the same things again and again.
I think I'd agree on the bot part. Not sure I'd love them in the actual game, but I wouldn't mind them in the upcoming 'shooting range' they've been talking about.
I would totally love a PvE Assault Mode where u+2 friends has to fight against monster's waves AND IA Hunters compositions to reach a final wave with a final Boss like 2 or 3 Pigman or Spiders going inside your location.
To pump a rank from 1 to 100 level, you need to spend no more than 2-3 days. To pump all weapons, you will need 2-3 weeks maximum. This doesn't sound like a grind. The problem is those players who haven't gotten out of the game since 2019 with millions of dollars. Such players have no problem buying a mosin-automat every game they play. I'll remind you that it only costs $1,500, which would be a joke for a player with a few million. And at 6 mmr they are really a problem now. The mosin-automat is too imbalanced, especially for an experienced player
@@albert-raz-na-vse-jytya to me it sounds like a lot a grind. Anyway, the main problem is that balance weapons based on cost it's simply not good. There are tons of ways to make money even without risk it, who will have more time to play will always have an advantage on money. The problem with the avtomat anyway is the ammo pool would that become huge thanks to the sparks pistols. Before I didn't see many 5/6 stars rely on the avtomat to win their matches because of their limitation. Also, wipes don't reward who win matches and save, because in the end they will loose everything like who didn't gain/spend everything.
@@albert-raz-na-vse-jytya agreed. As a regular prestige player I did so 2 weeks ago and I’ve been max level for a week and a half and the only guns I haven’t unlocked are ones I don’t care about using. I think regular wipes would be a good idea.
That “40% of players never get a kill” thing is sort of… misleading, in my eyes. Lots of people will pick up a game on a sale but not play it until their hardware allows, I know I bought hunt showdown maybe a year before I could play it. Plenty of players will buy the game, or be gifted it from a friend, play 3 rounds and go “well this stinks” before giving the game a fair shot, and uninstall/refund. I’d like to see their statistic on how many players don’t have that achievement after 25 hours of play. I have a good feeling it would be close to 0%. I think the AI enemies should be used sparingly. Maybe it’d do well as an offline option? Basically even as a further extension to the tutorial, and it could help ease in players even more by making it more sandbox, like the game itself. I don’t think I’d like AI hunters on the bayou on the regular, but I see it’s value for the new players that need it.
Yeah that article is viewed through a skewed lens. I said the same thing. Honestly man, the article seems to be more of a dog whistle for ego gamers in an era of souls games. “Oh, 40 percent of our player base can’t hang” yeah right. More like there are no fluorescent pink shotguns and landscapes or Fortnite dances to keep the kids occupied. It’s a boomer shooter.
I really appreciate the fact that I don't have to prestige in hunt, I have 300 & change hours into hunt and I just barely have most things unlocked in the 3-4 star lobbies. If they add wipes it'll put a huge damper on the time I get to sink into the game
Wipes gotta fit the game. I think Cycle would have been a good fit for wipes And Hunt is not. Hunts CORE Gameplay doesnt need wipes. Every weapon has a proper chance of downing someone and thats whats great about it. I play Tarkov and Cycle because its fun to progress and wage pvp vs progress and have the excitement of defending your progress. While sometimes you just wanne pvp, its more of a sandbox you make your own goals. But once progress is DONE its stale. Hunt Showdowns core gameplay IS the goal. I WANT to play Hunt because i love my favorite weapons, i wanne improve and learn forever.
this is a great point. The reason wipes are so good for some games is because of the weapon balance, in a game like hunt where all the weapons are pretty balanced, it doesnt need it.
I think the real testament that Hunt is still not truly casual is that note about how few people have killed their first hunter. Hunt as a game, right down to its aesthetic, attracts more serious gamers. It also doesn't help that the MMR system mixes people together that should flat out not be playing in the same lobby if skill-matching is enabled, but that's another discussion. I think it would be interesting to have hunter AI that behaves roughly like hunters but are instantly distinguishable from them in either animation, model, or more, if only to have matches get filled for some of the truly lower-end MMR folks who get pushed into matches with sweaty 4/5 star solos (like me) and start to feel discouraged.
I just hope they eventually add a 3v3 shoot out gamemode centered around a compound or maybe even 2 compounds. Just for people to really work on their pvp skills without having to wait for all offl the running around. I really think that will attract a lot of new players that are into games like cod.
The thing I love about Hunt is that your know there is another player who is just as scared as you, who wants your head just as bad as you want his and who has put 500+ hours into this game just to be ready to fight you. Not some f***** bot.
I think it's not going to be the usual bots we're used to seeing in most games. Hunt is a unique shooter, its game mechanics are also unique, so it seems to me that bots in Hunt will also have their own characteristics as opposed to other bots from other games
I love your videos but that title is sailing dangerously close to click bait territory. You know people will assume Crytek’s about to add bots to normal games when in reality it sounds like they’re considering them for player onboarding in private lobbies, if even that.
Kind of a mixed bag; will there be easy/normal/hard bots? I can imagine that constantly getting sniped cross compound would get annoying as hell. Increasing max player count could help. Bots don't gain anything from extracting; maybe have a separate game mode with AI? With specific objectives? Don't know, just throwing ideas out.
Bots are whatever, but seasonal wipes would get me to stop playing the game. I'm not grinding out unlocks every six months. You don't need to balance your game around streamers/content creators who can play the game 8-12 hours a day when the average person can't commit that time.
Games want you to devote every waking minute of your life as if they weren't competing for a limited pool of customers... You can realistically play one game of this type in your roster. Bane of my existence are daily tasks that you need to do in order to not fall behind - each game takes between 1h and 3h to knock out daily bucket list for one game. I won't be tied to one game.
I could see A.I hunters only for other modes aside from the main mode . Or Maybe even for a Wildcard contract where all the zombie A.I is preplaced with hunter A.I where a legendary hunter skin is the main bounty that could be fun to try on a weekend before returning to the main mode
yeah it be stupid to add it for online multiplayer, just give is custom lobbies where we can change parts of the map and loadouts in peace, maybe even mod it
"Did it exist in 1895? If it didn't, was it at least a prototype?" That is where i call bullshit, when there is that one particular gun, the Mosin Avtomat which is based on the Huot Automatic Rifle which did not come into being until the end of WW1. Might as well introduce the Thompson and call it a WW1 game and call it a day at this point.
What if instead of Ai hunters they added Ai residents that are visibly different from players but are there instead of spawning in. they could still use weapons like a player but there would still only be 12 players per match. would be a great way to add more action to matches, and they could spawn with more close range weapons so you wouldnt need fear being shot from 200m.
honestly an AI a little more intelligent than the zombies would be cool. Sneaking around villagers could be a new fun sound trap, especially going for stealth kills.
@@tonightsbigloser1580 I think it could be a cool sound trap if there was a "terrified villager" who takes up residence in random sniper towers that will take pot shots at hunters who get too close. Say like 60 meters but they only have a caldwell conversion, reduced damage, and cant headshot
@@tonightsbigloser1580 would rather have special zombies (think of miniboss variety), akin to Left for Dead. I really don't need some dumb bots pretending to be 2star players but with aimbot. It sucks ass in each and every multiplayer game that supplements lacklustre playerbase with bots. It sucks immensely in PUBG and Naraka. It's even more problematic when you realise that last 20 years of gaming hasn't produced smarter enemies than those in first FarCry game. 20 years of stagnation or worse, moving backwards... the only reason AI somewhat works in Tarkov is because they're equivalent of our zombies and otherwise are just loot piñatas...
900 hours in the game and if they introduce seasonal wipes, I'd not want to put any more into it. It's one of the most demoralising systems in any game.
Nah AI hunters sound like a bad idea. It's pretty confusing already. Imagine being a new player hyped because you got a kill and then you realise "oh, it was a bot...". I hope they never implement this.
What I'm hearing is that making the prestige system something that is worth doing, would indirectly help the stagnant hunt economy. Quick someone tweet that at at a dev XD
My two cents are that wipes are "necessary" in tarkov because of the body armor and helmet mechanics. The longer you go without a wipe, the steeper the curve is for new players, because they physically can't get any weapons that will be able to 1v1 someone with an expensive, meta kit. Hunt is different. You're always one unlucky headshot away from dying. So, even a newbie could, in theory, beat, say, Rachta, with a bit of luck. Of course, a Mosin will beat a Winfield most of the time, but there's always a level playing field when you're close to another player. I'd say Hunt is way more about positioning synergy with your load out, rather than just load out and ammo
I'm thinking in a main change at Quickplay "semi-Story mode". It could be an PvE Assault Mode against Monters and IA Legendary Hunters waves with a final Boss wave. With IA Hunter lore-friendly groups rushing you trying to taking you down, like Reptilian with his Aprendice, or Dr. Bones + Voodo sister. At this mode, main idea keeps alive: "If you survive, your Hunter will be recluitable to go at Normal mode". We're talking about a real hard-mode to learn and train where coop may be the main idea.
I think a more engaging single player or “practice” mode would be cool for letting the new players play more openly with lower stakes. Like if they incorporate bots, that would be a good context for their use.
I have never heard anyone call Hunt "too casual" or that it's just "becoming Call of Duty". Who is saying that and where? I'm chronically online and literally only heard the opposite, that Hunt is too hard for most people.
Maybe a fix for the economy issue could be to have everything start costing a certain percentage of your total money after you have a certain amount of money. Like all items cost the same as they do now up until you hit maybe 10,000 dollars, then after going over 10,000 the prices start to increase proportionally to your total money.
Dude if they just removed the avto no one would be talking anything about "economy". The only problem with economy is that we have players that can run AVTOS with a full loadout for a year and not break the bank. At least if they have to run with a Nitro they would have to actually aim to hit their shots.
Scav-like run-down looking AI with basic equipment could really add some depth to each match and I think could make the game very interesting, lore-wise they could be the last people who remained in the desolate areas afflicted by the corruption, maybe even turning slowly mad themselves and giving over to dark influence, hence why they attack on sight.
If I'm honest, I think that one thing that would make me feel more confident to play the game would be a solo only mode. To know that I'm inevitably going to run into duos makes it demoralizing to even try. I absolutely love the game, I'm only 20h in but having to reach 100s of hours to maybe be able to fully enjoy the game is very intimidating to me.
The hundreds of hours go by faster than you think. It's not like it's gonna be everything sucks until you hit 400 hrs and then it all clicks at once. You'll have a sense of progress still and it's very fulfilling. I'd say the real progress starts hitting around 100 hrs which is much less daunting.
@@schleybailey Yeah, I thought as much while commenting. I don't know then, bots seems boring. I should probably just spend the time and/or make friends.
I think whatever the answer is, it has to be voluntary prestige. Following the 400 hr vs 40 hour thing, there is absolutely no chance for a 40 hr player to catch up to a 400 hr player if they get reset every so often. The 400 hr player will take the lead on day one and keep it until reset.
I would love a shooting range with moving targets and signs saying how far away certain targets are like 25m, 50m, 75m and 100meters and so on and have it be like a little achievement. I would also like bots as well for custom maps.
I was one of ther player that bought the game in the first year, the game it self is pretty good and well design and fits my fantasy. When I started my first match I fell in love to HUNT even more, the game is pretty simple yet delivered a powerful immersive feelings. Even though it's my favorite game I quit playing just because my laptop was simply potato the loading screen felt like an ages, and barely hit 30fps. When I quit the game I felt like a person who can't get over their ex. I kept checking and dreaming of coming back to Hunt. And finally I just download it again after 4 -5 years (with the same laptop) fortunately I can hit 60 fps now, but things have changed a lot. The pacts system, traps, new traits it tooks me a while to learn the rope again but what makes it most difficult for me is the Hunters that can instantly head shot me across the compound. It's very nice that they've added the shooting range I was able to get to know the guns quicker than go straight to the quick play or bounty hunt and get rekt. The Idea of adding a bots in specific server or game mode would be such a great help for Hunters who needs to improve the PVP aspects. Like the devs mentioned that 40% of player never get a single kill, the game was hardcore, the player making it far more hardcore for beginners.
Private PvP would be incredible. The other day, six of us played QP together. Had to go to Oceania to make certain we were in the same lobby, but it was a hoot even with the 180ms lag.
Bots would be absolutely brilliant for new players to learn maps, test different loadouts etc. but there should definitely be a completely separate mode for that. I only just started Hunt last week and have played maybe 3 hours or so - it is NOT a fun time.
They really need to add bots, it would make so many more people play. I do think they should have it as it's on mode though, so you can progress/get weapons/lvl up etc but only in that mode. PVP will still be its own thing. That way people dont just smash out bots get the best guns then jump to PVP
Honestly I just want new game modes and private/custom servers. Been saying this for 4 years now. I'd like to be able to play hunt the way I want before I die.
My takes Bots: I really dont think there is a need for bots on any real level. There has been consistent steady growth in the hunt community so there is no lack of players. Bots like other aspects of the game can break or have issues where you get killed in a ridiculous manner that was 100% not fair or naturally probable in the game. I can accept a hard to kill hive, or a swarm of grunts, but no one wants to get bot shot from across the compound hiding behind a wall. Seasonal wipes: I think you should be able to opt in for having your account automatically prestige or reset every season or every rank 100, but i dont think it should be mandatory. People sometime need to take a hiatus from a game and they dont need to come back to a reset
For me after 128 hours Gameplay the avto got extremly OP and Powerfull because of the Sparks Pistole. And what He said is like "i ignore all the Problems with it!! We dont care about avto u can use an axe and try 10000 Times to kill one of them!!" And the Level System with Prestige is ultra trashy ans NO ONE with a life will Level in a System without ANY Kind of reward and they IGBORE that also because we have "events". I really love this game but i dont like how they completly ignore These 2 extremly BIG Problems now.
I can’t really see the Hunt Showdown as anything other than a hardcore, brutal shooter that cannot be compared to other games. It is a unique experience and doesn’t seem to matter how good you are, it only takes a clean shot or hit and your gone. It’s an incredible game that still has a lot of room for more maps, more bosses, more legendary skins and more weapons. Crytek have an incredible game that they are doing a brilliant job of making improvements and upgrades. Their low level costs for legendary skins is brilliant for everyone and they seem like one of the best developers out there for listening to the player base. I look forward to playing it for another 5 years … hopefully.
@@maxtugger1859 aside from setting the two are very comparable though, they both fall into a very similar genre. While I prefer Hunt, it's not really accurate to say there's absolutely nothing else like it out there.
instead of a wipe, they should have a tournament system. You get of roster of Randomly generated 4 or 5 hunters (separate from your normal roster, they can be legendaries if you want them to be), and you get a small cache of tools, consumables, separate currency, and weapons. These hunters get put in separate matches with other tournament players. As you win the matches you earn a separate currency from which you can buy more weapons and consumables for your hunter. In this mode, you also earn the separate currency from sacrificing snakes and looting hunter bodies. The higher the $ value of the hunters load out, the higher currency you earn from looting the bodies. Once the 5 hunters die out you have to start over. If one of your hunters reaches level 50, your currency can be turned in for blood bonds or a prestige level (without having to do a wipe to your normal roster). Also you can only level your hunter by killing hunters, or banishes to prevent people from farming AI and extracting to farm the system. This increases the risk vs reward system, and opens opportunity for both casual and hardcore hunt players to fight in leveled playing fields without the economy being a major factor. I'm a hoarder personally, but I rarely bring in mosins and lebels, in fact I play meme loadouts all the time. Put i've seen players hoard so they can bring dolches and avto every other game.
One of the things I'm hoping for with the upgrade in engine is better animations: the animations for climbing ladders (both grabbing on to and getting to the top of them) is *so* slow.
Wouldn’t mind more realistic animations. If you ever watch a player hunter move, they are very jerky and twitchy. It’s a little jarring if you pay attention to how real looking so much of the game looks and then you see a player running in the distance and you remember you aren’t in a Louisiana bayou and it’s just a game.
I saw this article pop up in my news feed but didn't have a chance yet to read it. I like this coverage style vid and the conversation piece. It's exciting seeing Hunt grow more and more with a very stable foundation to what makes Hunt unique.
I don't get the connection being made here. They are discussing bots in racing games, from there they go to bots that play like players in shooters, then 40% of players not getting a kill. How exactly using bots (in any way) potentially can lead to more players playing the game, let alone getting kills? I don't get the argument
Would love a gunfight mode on a small map - like the one in cod - 'duel' or something - could even choose your own guns/tacticals to bring in - winners get the opponents guns/loot as a prize.
I wasn't able to finish the questline and get the player skin this time due to being in Africa from late April to a few days ago. We can't all work with time constraints. Glad this David guy has a brain and it works.
there is an achievement on steam called "debut" and you get it by killing a hunter for the first time and 94% of players got it , i don't understand from where does that 40% come from ?
Hunt is in a really good spot right now, I feel they have really good event timings and as such I think its why their playerbase have been growing consistently. I pray they do not change their game philosphy such as adding seasonal wipes to 'balance' the game. Although it feels unfun fighting avtomats and 'meta' gear, those players quickly rank up anyways provided theyre good, so i dont think its a big problem. They also talked about they love the story of the underdog with a hatchet killing highly geared players. It is great and very satisfying, however if they decide to 'balance' such things, it loses it significance and becomes less satisfying. All in all, they should strive to make the game more casual and trust their matchmaking system to provide a fun experience for their players. I dont feel hunt players really play this game because it is 'hardcore' or 'every extraction must feel very satisfying' and thats the beauty of this game. Go in kill hunters extract with xp upgrade your hunter and play more variety builds.
To me Hunt is somewhat casual in the way that you can jump into a few matches and have fun playing around while chatting with your friends and it's also fun to try different loadouts, but it's none the less very hardcore in the way that it's still highly skill-based and you need to put in the hours to get any good. I remember it feeling VERY demanding when I started playing, but it became more pick up and play after some 1000 hours. :D But playing solo or clutching a 1-vs-3 situation gets my heart pounding no matter what. :D
it's casual because at high level it plays like CoD withwallbangs. Constant jump spamming and adada spamming. Obviously with either slugs or snipers/long ammo like the old CoDs.
I would really love to have a firing range in hunt, that would change everything for me as I don't like to play solo, so I always wait for the week-end to play with a friend but during the week I'd like to train a bit when I have time too
The weird Tesla gun image made me click but possible bits sounds fun. I personally would like them to be distinct if they were added, not hunters, but maybe like, possessed soldiers
Bro saying the economy of hunt is a sore spot clearly hasn't played werthunder. Players are literally review bombing it and organising a boycott right now due to how the economy has been constantly made worse over the years to a point it's barely even tolerable for payed accounts
I think they should have starter lobbies that are like 2 stars or less and maybe your first 10 games happen there or something and those have some bots but the regular levels and up don't have bots
There's already protection queue for beginners. There are things that can break it, such as queueing up with a veteran friend, but for the most part you're playing with 1/2 stars anyways. You're also automatically a 1-star player until you reach Bloodline rank 10.
I would love an "offline" kind of mode and play against bots. I could kill zombies with cowboy guns (which is why I love the game, cowboys vs monsters) without actual players to hunt down every sound. I love that too, but sometimes I really want to play hunt, but I don't want to go to bed in a pool of my own sweat or tears because I tried going in after work. Say what you want, but sometimes getting murdered every gunfight I get into is not fun.
We don't need any more long ammo rifles or shotguns right now i think - but a compact ammo bolt action - like a varmint rifle would be cool. Maybe a 2 shot side by side medium ammo rifle too. I think there is definitely more room for weapons like the bomb lance - i wouldn't mind if they leaned into the fantasy / horror aspects more - like lets have a gun that shoots silver bullets or a boss or enemy that can only bet hit when light is being pointed at it ...
I really hope we can get option to host a lobby that only has bots, or just like the offline Tarkov mod. I really love the setting of Hunt but i am just not a multiplayer guy
Unless it's for offline or training purposes, forget AI bots. Put the time into getting the player count up, especially with the new engine. As long as the servers can handle it. I know I've been getting kicked recently
Its like a jimmy neutron brain blast to me that to this day, years later, the devs actually believe that the money economy balances the weapons and therefore "why balance". Anyone who has played five minutes of hunt knows that the Avtos and Nitros dont come from the money struggling low level players. Its 6 star sweat monkeys who sit on their prestiege and have accumulated hundreds of thousands of dollars. These people can afford to buy an avtomat every single game for perpetuity. I just refuse to believe the devs haven't come to realize this by now. This "High stakes or low stakes" thing is a laughable misrepresentation of the reality, there are no stakes this isnt tarkov lol.
All I want is a Solo Bounty Hunt mode so I can grind Monster/Weapon lore in peace and not have to interact without having to interact with other people, Crytek. I don't buy a game about hunting Cthulhu monsters in the deep south to play Counter Strike minus assault rifles
Im just glad I dont see mosin uppercuts everygame. Forced wipes would be awful though. Edit: I genuinly enjoy facing players fresh after a prestige. I just wish I could pick a weapon to carry through the prestige so im not forced to use the same weapons constantly.
3:56 That's the reason I left Hunt and probably never coming back, unless they drop the stupid monetary "balance" and go with the traditional Dmg/RoF/Range approach.
It's very unlikely they'll kill their playerbase with wipes, this isn't Tarkov and wipes will widen the gap between average players and those with a lot of freetime. I don't even see why this would even be a question, though since not prestiging will lead to hoarding, they could implement some caps to money and storage so no prestige doesn't mean you'll be rich Bots might just be on the way because they need to fill the kiddie pool for newcomers, maybe 1/2* lobbies will also benefit from bots so beginners aren't locked into empty servers until they hit the wall of fighting experienced players with zero combat xp
What he said about getting to kill the 6 stars best player with an axe as a 3 stars is the best thing about this game: everything kills, thats the balance, you make your own movie out of your successes and failures. Everytime I die I know I could have done things differently.
As a person that works 50hr average weeks I’m not inclined to prestige. I worked really hard to get everything unlocked and the most fun I have is getting to make wild combos and use any gun I feel like playing. Don’t get me wrong when I had more time working to unlock was fun but now that I’m busy between life and work I just can’t stomach the idea of having to start all over. I like getting on and just playing with anything and everything that’s where I get my fun from hunt being the funny cowboy.
Id love a hunt showdown singleplayer mode, or atleast making ai hunters exist and an option to progress the game with fewer rewards. Im a terrbile shot and player, and wish I could play a game without getting my ass kicked.
That is not a good argument at all thoughj "you need at least a 100 hours for the game to really be fun" means the game is not well-designed. I don't agree with that at all, I think, if you are already good at FPS games, you will have fun in Hunt from minute 1, which makes it a good game, but if you are bad at or new to FPS games, like I was, then you will suffer for a while, but not too much more compared to other, faster paced games with modern weapons. In more modern themed games, you will for sure be killed and maybe frustrated more on average per minute spent, but since the weapons are often fully automatic, you will probably be able to get kills here and there. Not to mention that not too many FPS games will really have you fight 100m+ battles or have shotgun/bomblance campers, since the games are too fast and they will die immediately after killing 1 person or even before that. Hunt is fun from the start, if it wasn't, it wouldn't be good, but it is.
first, thank you for mentioning the use of "meta" in hunt showdown video titles. it'll be interesting to see how they improve/adjust balance with the ideas they have floating around
Kinda sad that they aren't tapping more into the weird west ideas when it comes to weapons but they never said anything about tools, consumables, and traits! Here is hoping for some more magical shenanigans down the line!
I'm the 3 star with an axe. Except after 1000s of hrs and 100s of presitges with an axe I became a 5 star and occasionally a 6 star. I've become the very thing I sought out to destroy, except I'm a master of an axe.
Onboarding friends is so hard in Hunt. Because, if I want to play with them, they have their first game in a 5* lobby. And, there isn't any way around that, if they want to play with me.
So what I gother is that because they wont change prestige or the economy 6star will stay a avtomat hell. I hope they will reconsider sometime. The game is fun but gets worse the higher you get with mmr.
More people would get comfortable engaging with the pvp and that 40% never kill stat would drop if Quickplay got a serious rework like you've suggested before Home. Quickplay needs to be a more simplified pvp mode that doesn't end anticlimactically. The wellsping mechanic is confusing to new players and can lead to people losing a game without even getting a chance to fight other players. It needs to be quicker, simpler and more direct.
Ehhh, the last thing you need to do is start inviting and accomodating DM/TDM brain-dead zombies as they will quickly take over like a parasite and push you on the sidelines, changing the game you love into something unrecognisable... Just look how Call of Duty or Battlefield devolved and got dumbed down with each subsequent iteration in order to cater to that type of clientele... Hunt doesn't need to be the most played game out there, it will be detrimental to the experience.
I love the their authentic with a twist way to make guns, it make the game more fun and idk why. Like when I found out the LeMatt was real I was like ‘holy frick I want one’ and now I know how to operate and load black powder pistols
Really cool roundtable that I never even realized happened, massive respect to David Fifield for some of his insight here. I will beat a dead horse and point out that it's kind of misleading that you've centered the video title around an idea not even vaguely mentioned in the discussion, nor is there any analysis comparing the roundtable to this topic. Not a big deal but still left me going "wait, at what point did we talk about the main topic that brought me to this?" and had to rewatch once or twice only to realize it's never talked about.
Why do we want to be like Tarkov? Look how much fun that community is having. Why is Tarkov the standard for “extract” shooters? Hunt is fine the way it is..
Just listening to the conversation, they're so out of touch with their community. AI hunters and seasonal wipes? Man, we're really going to be like Tarkov at this point, infested with cheaters and bad gameplay decisions all around.
Did you really listen in? They literally said "I quite like the voluntary prestige." and the main man said "you can't really compare the 40 hour per wipe guy to the 400 hour guy. Why should we wipe the progress of the other guy when he still has 60 or maybe even more hours to play"
@@RexOedipus. The idea is there, that is the issue. The fact they even entertained the idea that they would maybe do it, because people hoard hunt dollars like no one's business.
@@Ashen_Night116 people have been saying wipe since the open access. Of course they will say something about it. It's been almost half a decade of people saying it
If AI hunters are added then they should be hunters that the corruption has affected in a visual way. Black goo leaking from eyes or something to tell its AI but not so altered that they look like monsters
AI just doesnt work right in games like this. Look at the entire "hardcore" shooter genre and name one game with good bots. There is none. You just cant make an AI behave like a human player in such a complex, high risk situation.
I‘m glad that not everyone‘s on the hype train for wipes. I would stop playing if all my stuff was gone after half a year or whatever, I don‘t have the time to unlock all the stuff I like to use in a short period of time. It took me a year and a höf to unlock everything, thanks to my job and the fact that I don‘t play Hunt exclusively. If Streamers and other people who can play t game almost as a full time job want to repeat the progression, the prestige system works fine.
I think if they don't want to add a full season wipe, they absolutely need to introduce a hunt dollar limit. I'm all for having clear power disparity in guns based on price, but the fact that people with thousands of hours can hoard wealth like a dragon makes it so that they can just always take the most powerful guns, which ruins the balancing aspect. One of the most widespread balance patches for the guns did almost nothing but change the prices for them, but the price changes will never be effective as long as there's no system in place to curb people's personal wealth
AI Hunters would be fun for Quickplay, but core gameplay would be... weird I think. Maybe semi-scripted AI engaging monsters in a compound as an additional noise trap/distraction. Maybe they engage us, maybe they have death scenes to be witnessed
Edit: I think some nuance is being lost here, so just a little reminder, this is just speculation. Seasonal wipes and bots haven't been announced in any capacity, and all the sections of the video are meant to give you the context of the bot discussion. You can also listen to the full talk at the link below. Thanks! 💕

Yes for A.I. hunters, no for wipe
I would absolutely hate a.i. bot hunters.
The monsters in Hunt are what challenge you to survive when you aren't fighting hunters.
AI Hunters would absolutly destroy the game.
Imagine getting clapped by a bot white shirt’s dual silent nagants from across a compound
I can't think of a way they could make bots work well in this game tbh I don't see a balanced way it'd be extremely hard to not make them op while not making them horrible
chiki briki
@@nikiahnikiah3893 yes. They can’t even stop the spider from glitching.
😂😂😂😂 uninstall 😢
Agreed. Leave wipes to Tarkov. People play Hunt Showdown for a hardcore experience that doesn't require a stupid grind like Tarkov requires.
It's an interesting topic. I think most people prefer the voluntary prestige. I doubt we will see a Tarkov-level seasonal wipe
If they do a system wipe, id actually quit. Ive spent so much time collecting 2 stolen copies of every weapon skin
A man of taste
Same i love collecting contraband legendary weapons i have so many and if they do the wipe i will probably never touch this game again.
Holy god, I didn't even think about the fact I'd lose that
But do you have the Last Resort? I feel like I'm one of, like, 13 people who have gotten 90 stars in trials. I think it made me better, but I'm still a hard low-three star. 600 hours in and I think I'm getting worse. I'm still having fun, though.
@@alexbrand4284 i did get it off of one guy i killed near lumber
Tarkov style wipes would be really awkward in hunt. Maybe they could add a heavily incentivized but optional wipe that isn't tied to levels with permanent unlocks or something. In regards to the bots however, I really hope they wouldn't be replacing actual players in any way. Having them defend clues or compounds sounds neat to me though, maybe they could even have them chase after the roaming bounty target they might add.
Defensive bots would be a super vibe. They’d be just higher levels AI and that’s cool.
if instead of wipes they just did a wallet wipe/bought weapons wipe I'd be more happy.
Like you can choose to wipe and then you can enter a league that tracks progress and gets you rewards or something like that.
why not just cap money at 10'000 or so?
@@hungryhedgehog4201 Why i've never bothered to prestige, and many of my friends ignore it, it isn't worth it.
Dont forget Free Play weekends!!
It’s a boomer shooter.
you are generalizing a lot , keep yor garbo info to yourself
Honestly, I wouldn't mind some co-op trials, or story missions. Maybe add AI to those. But bounty and quickly should be players only.
I really appreciate the fact that I don't have to prestige in hunt, I have 300 & change hours into hunt and I just barely have most things unlocked in the 3-4 star lobbies. If they add wipes it'll put a huge damper on the time I get to sink into the game
i don't even know what that even means or do really , just played the game and finally got bored.
Wipes gotta fit the game.
I think Cycle would have been a good fit for wipes
And Hunt is not.
This mode would actually be great like rdr2
Agreed.
This game doesn't need any more run and gun only cod players
@@HelpMeFindMyDad the game should have more players because we need different games like this to get popular. Cod or not
The thing I love about Hunt is that your know there is another player who is just as scared as you, who wants your head just as bad as you want his and who has put 500+ hours into this game just to be ready to fight you. Not some f***** bot.
(so if they add AI Hunters keep them out of my games please)
i feel like i just wouldn’t be as scared hearing footsteps if ai bots were a thing maybe i’m just a wimp…
I think it's not going to be the usual bots we're used to seeing in most games. Hunt is a unique shooter, its game mechanics are also unique, so it seems to me that bots in Hunt will also have their own characteristics as opposed to other bots from other games
I never have this feeling in Hunt, but surprisingly I have it in DayZ all the time :D
Yep bots would ruin the game, I want to be up against some cunning fecker with 1000 hours and a load of patience.Basically fight a version of myself
I love your videos but that title is sailing dangerously close to click bait territory. You know people will assume Crytek’s about to add bots to normal games when in reality it sounds like they’re considering them for player onboarding in private lobbies, if even that.
It is click bait then. I didn’t want to watch this 14 min video and just read the title.
yeah if the AI is for training that's pretty good! but if it for live matches I don't think I'll like that tbh.
Kind of a mixed bag; will there be easy/normal/hard bots? I can imagine that constantly getting sniped cross compound would get annoying as hell. Increasing max player count could help.
Bots don't gain anything from extracting; maybe have a separate game mode with AI? With specific objectives? Don't know, just throwing ideas out.
no they should only be for custom lobbies , this is horse shit that they are adding to online mode
Bots are whatever, but seasonal wipes would get me to stop playing the game.
I'm not grinding out unlocks every six months.
You don't need to balance your game around streamers/content creators who can play the game 8-12 hours a day when the average person can't commit that time.
omfg literally
This is what i hate in today's gaming age. Companies catering more to Esport streamers/ content creators than to an average joe

Everyone Gangsta till the civilians start chasing you with Hatchets.
honestly an AI a little more intelligent than the zombies would be cool.
20 years of stagnation or worse, moving backwards... the only reason AI somewhat works in Tarkov is because they're equivalent of our zombies and otherwise are just loot piñatas...
no AI hunters should be for custom game modes so we can mod them
900 hours in the game and if they introduce seasonal wipes, I'd not want to put any more into it.
Ai bots would be soo cool with private servers
If they do add bots, it should be an increase over current cap of hunters in a lobby. Like 12 real players, 12 bots or somethin
I echo this. Bots could also be good for practice offline or for offline play. Also PVE co op.

At this mode, main idea keeps alive:
"If you survive, your Hunter will be recluitable to go at Normal mode". We're talking about a real hard-mode to learn and train where coop may be the main idea.
I think a more engaging single player or “practice” mode would be cool for letting the new players play more openly with lower stakes. Like if they incorporate bots, that would be a good context for their use.
As a new player, I approve this message
that be a waste of money, customizable lobbies with hunter ai would actually be useful
Just place a currency cap
Scav-like run-down looking AI with basic equipment could really add some depth to each match and I think could make the game very interesting, lore-wise they could be the last people who remained in the desolate areas afflicted by the corruption, maybe even turning slowly mad themselves and giving over to dark influence, hence why they attack on sight.
@notpc6981 😂
That was tried a long time ago, it caused empty lobbies :(
The hundreds of hours go by faster than you think.
@@tomramecin6995 honestly solo is perfectly viable now that self revive is a thing. Watch mainly solo UA-camrs like Hornet and observe how they play.
My takes
Bots: I really dont think there is a need for bots on any real level.
We dont care about avto u can use an axe and try 10000 Times to kill one of them!!"
And the Level System with Prestige is ultra trashy ans NO ONE with a life will Level in a System without ANY Kind of reward and they IGBORE that also because we have "events".
I look forward to playing it for another 5 years … hopefully.
there's plenty games out there like Hunt, it's literally based on tarkov
@@TheMightyP00tis Tarkov is set in a modern world with modern weapons. Very different feel and experience to the Hunt Showdown 1800’s .
Pretty sure it’s supposed be slow, it’s a risk
I saw this article pop up in my news feed but didn't have a chance yet to read it. I like this coverage style vid and the conversation piece. It's exciting seeing Hunt grow more and more with a very stable foundation to what makes Hunt unique.
Talking about seasonal wipes is really a
‘Make an engaging Prestige System or draw 25’ moment.
i got 2.2mil in hunt but i barely bring expensive shit tbh. mostly cheaper stuff because stealing mosins or expensive loadouts is fun
Honestly lately I've just been using Free hunters, especially if they have springfields.
Springfield with dumdums is cheap long ammo more or less.
I don't get the connection being made here. They are discussing bots in racing games, from there they go to bots that play like players in shooters, then 40% of players not getting a kill. How exactly using bots (in any way) potentially can lead to more players playing the game, let alone getting kills? I don't get the argument
Interesting video thanks for filming and posting it!
Super thankful you made this video for us.
This would be amazing tbh ai hunter bots
Bro saying the economy of hunt is a sore spot clearly hasn't played werthunder. Players are literally review bombing it and organising a boycott right now due to how the economy has been constantly made worse over the years to a point it's barely even tolerable for payed accounts
I think they should have starter lobbies that are like 2 stars or less and maybe your first 10 games happen there or something and those have some bots but the regular levels and up don't have bots
So putting bots in trainee mode?
@@schleybailey basically
There's already protection queue for beginners. There are things that can break it, such as queueing up with a veteran friend, but for the most part you're playing with 1/2 stars anyways.
You're also automatically a 1-star player until you reach Bloodline rank 10.
7:39 That T1 on the ground tho
Hopefully after the engine update.
Exactly. I want to hunt monsters with cowboy guns without worrying about getting sniped by someone with 1k hours.
Great video recap! Have my comment for the UA-cam gods.
It is rare that German companies let devs work on tech debts, let alone make it a product goal. Huge applaud for Crytek here.
Seasonal wipes would make players leave. If players don’t see a need to prestige voluntarily then a forced wipe would not be welcome.
It's very unlikely they'll kill their playerbase with wipes, this isn't Tarkov and wipes will widen the gap between average players and those with a lot of freetime.
I don't even see why this would even be a question, though since not prestiging will lead to hoarding, they could implement some caps to money and storage so no prestige doesn't mean you'll be rich
Bots might just be on the way because they need to fill the kiddie pool for newcomers, maybe 1/2* lobbies will also benefit from bots so beginners aren't locked into empty servers until they hit the wall of fighting experienced players with zero combat xp
What if there was a compound shown on the map at the start that was filled with hostile AI hunter?
I like getting on and just playing with anything and everything that’s where I get my fun from hunt being the funny cowboy.
sameeeee
Have you ever brought in dual duallies? No one expects the switch from dual silenced Nagants to dual chains.
Id love a hunt showdown singleplayer mode, or atleast making ai hunters exist and an option to progress the game with fewer rewards. Im a terrbile shot and player, and wish I could play a game without getting my ass kicked.
That's basically all I've wanted ever since I first heard of this game.
If we don't get shot through some crazy bush angle that's literally impossible to see as a real person I will be extremely surprised
Cant lie I feel like wipes only work if your weapon progresion is based on pure economy and doesnt feature unlocking by level
Kinda sad that they aren't tapping more into the weird west ideas when it comes to weapons but they never said anything about tools, consumables, and traits! Here is hoping for some more magical shenanigans down the line!
I would like to have the option of adding a 3rd random player on a duo party
I'm the 3 star with an axe. Except after 1000s of hrs and 100s of presitges with an axe I became a 5 star and occasionally a 6 star. I've become the very thing I sought out to destroy, except I'm a master of an axe.
LOL
Hunt doesn't need to be the most played game out there, it will be detrimental to the experience.
no there is nothing confusing unless you are some 10 year old, we need bots but not in an online mode
I love the their authentic with a twist way to make guns, it make the game more fun and idk why. Like when I found out the LeMatt was real I was like ‘holy frick I want one’ and now I know how to operate and load black powder pistols
I feel like he was saying the idea behind AI was for onboarding, aka a practice mode.
I was already thinking about quitting hunt this makes me think about it even more
Why do we want to be like Tarkov? Look how much fun that community is having. Why is Tarkov the standard for “extract” shooters? Hunt is fine the way it is..
they don't, look at the distinction section
Imagine they announce that “wipes will be coming in one month”. We’d be seeing 30 days of every player using avtomats
Thank you for highlighting this
AI Hunters would be fun for Quickplay, but core gameplay would be... weird I think.
Maybe semi-scripted AI engaging monsters in a compound as an additional noise trap/distraction. Maybe they engage us, maybe they have death scenes to be witnessed
