    I've got M42's on my 6D as well. Only downside I've had to deal with is the light metering being off and my camera overexposing when metering for an object that doesn't project a lot of light. For example a shot of dark pine trees overexposes, but when I compose 50/50 pine trees and the bright sky above them I get accurate exposure again. It gets worse the further I close the aperture down. However, it hasn't been a major issue and I haven't had a single shot I couldn't fix in post edit, so I'm happy with these.

    Yes, yes and yes again! This is a video I've been waiting for. Alot of people go nuts if you adapt a vintage lens onto a Canon body. I purchased an FD to EF Adapter for my 40d because I have 3 vintage fd lenses at different focal lengths but only have the 1 EF lens. I just can't afford some of the ef lenses that I want and you can pick an fd or vintage lens up for a fraction of the cost. I got a little bit of hate because people saying it shouldn't be done and my images will suffer. But by playing around I've learnt there limits. Like my fd 50mm f1. 4is very soft when wide open so I stop in down by 1 stop and it's superb. Still really sharp. And my fd 70-250 isnt sharp at full zoom when fitted to my 40d but everything else I between is great.
    It's good to see someone else adapting vintage glass to modern dslrs and getting amazing results!

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  Рік тому +2

      Personally I think anyone claiming it shouldn't be done doesn't understand and is missing out. I'd love to see a canon lens render an image like the Helios 44 does wide open, but in reality, there's no canon lens that can.
      My main system is Sony mirrorless and part of the reason I switched was to easily adapt any lens so I'm all in on trying different lenses and getting results beyond the clinically sharp and lifeless of many modern lenses. The fact that they're using lenses like the Helios in cinema is proof that it's a desirable aesthetic.
      Ignore the haters, mate and use whatever you want🖖

Reason I went K&F in the end was simply it was next day delivery and about £5 cheaper. £35 all in from K&F direct (this was a couple of years ago now so could of gone up slightly).

    As soon as I knew I wanted to upgrade from Sony mini DV handy cams to using a DSLR for video. I researched alot and decided on the Canon Rebel T3i (600D). I also researched if I could put my old MD mount Minolta lenses with some kind of adapter. I found Fotodiox made them and also for my older Canon FD mount lenses as well. I loved the look of my old lenses on my T3i that I bought in January of 2012. The main reason I did this was because I couldn't afford any other Canon lenses except for the 18-55 kit lens.

I have the EF to RF adapter so I'm still able to isexmy vintage lenses on it as well.

      It just doesn't screw on and I don't want to force it to prevent damaging the filter or even the lens.

      This is what I'm trying to research right now. I bought a Fotodiox adapter ages ago and recently tried using it again and dropped a lens since the install ring is the same as the aperture ring... it seems I'm sure I'm missing something. I have an AE1 and a Nikkormat so I've been looking at FD and F mount adapters for my 5d. Wasn't sure if there was something less annoying than the fotodiox. But also looking at other lens systems. A friend suggested K lenses.

    I have a load of M42 and Minolta MD mount glass which I often adapt to my cameras. You can also adapt Minolta MC/MD glass to Canon cameras but with the flange difference you have to have an adapter with a piece of glass in the adapter. My favourite vintage lenses are the M42 Jupiter 9, Helios 58mm and my Minolta 58mm f/1.4. I also have a lovely little Sigma 24mm f/28 Super Wide II lens which is lovely :) Nice video as always.
