the exercise i use that i believe helps me best when changing directions between 2 strings - say downstroke on E string and then up stroke A sting for example is to just mindlessly go back and forth between the 2 strings as well as between G and D and A and D for 5 min. at a time - anyway i think that helps - does that make sense ?
Absolutely. I recently published a course on Soundslice that has 110 picking exercises and that’s one of them. Anything that is practiced repetitively and mindfully with good technique will make a big difference
do you think holding the pick in a more upward angle as opposed to the more conventional downward angle makes a difference ? - i write right handed but write with a left hand slant - anyway i have a real hard time playing triplets - maybe because i hold the pick differently - i`m not sure - any thoughts ?

Yeah there’s a whole theory on pick slanting and angling for better technique. I’ve addressed in some of my recent video if I remember correctly.
