Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I am assembling my Q-frame for the first time and I ordered this upgrade, but the printed instructions were so confusing! Your video made it so much easier!
Hi Barbara - I found your comments on a few different videos! You have a Hoop Frame Pro? No, unfortunately it's not possible to upgrade this particular frame to become larger. Shoot me an email and I'll help you find a frame to better fit your needs! leahday.com/pages/contact-us
Hi Leah, I hope you can help...I just purchased the Q-Zone Hoop Frame Pro. I was so excited to see it was something I could fit my HQ Sweet16 quilt machine on! But, with the upgrade of the table, I am finding my foot pedal is too short to reach the back of my machine, and when I move my carriage from side to side while on the tracking platform, the pedal moves from side to side as well. If I cant figure this out, I may not be able to use this frame. : ( Even though the rep at the Grace Company told me absolutely my machine would fit -she didn't mention that if I was going to make it a standup (What I really wanted) was how would I reach my pedals? Thank you for your time.
Unfortunately this is a limitation when using some machines on this frame that are not compatible with our Sure Stitch Regulator or Speed Controller. My advise is to position the foot pedal to the left when working towards the left side of the frame, then when you pass the center of the quilt, reposition the foot pedal on the right side of the frame. Another alternative - sell your longarm in your local area to someone that wants a table mounted sit down, then get a Qnique 15R or 15 PRO that comes with a stitch regulator installed!
Can we attach the leader cloth to the backing and put it on the machine and then add the batting and top at that time rather than put all three layers together first before putting it on the machine, I talking about a quilt size that is longer than the frame size. Thank you
For this style of frame, you need to layer the backing, batting, and quilt top, then attach it to the frame. The layers need to be smoothed out and even through the entire quilt before attaching it to the frame. I hope that helps!
Can you please tell me the difference between the qzone hoop frame pro and the queen hoop frame, and is there a kit to extend the length of the q zone pro if I needed to in the future.
The Q-Zone Queen is a Rolling Rail Frame which is entirely different from the Hoop Frames. Basically it can be set up as a 10 foot or half size 5 feet and cannot be expanded. Watch my videos on the Continuum Frame for reference because the Queen basically works like the Continuum, but it has thinner rails and a lighter build. leahday.com/products/continuum-frames My preference is for the Continuum because it can be expanded and you can add extra rails too. No, you cannot extend a Hoop Frame or Hoop Frame Pro - the advantage of both frames is the small foot print. The downside is these frames are more time consuming to use because you have to clamp with each advance and there isn't a lot of space to quilt in before you have to advance the quilt. So if you have space - go with the Continuum! That's my honest opinion!
