Wigging Out: Fake Hair That Made Real History

As part of our 2024 Virtual Fashion Week, the National Arts Club presents Jessica Glasscock, author of "Wigging Out: Fake Hair That Made Real History" for a journey starting in ancient Egypt and ending on the red carpet of the Met Gala, stopping along the way to examine the fashion histories of real and synthetic wigs worn by everyone from Roman emperors and nineteenth-century Gibson Girls to twenty-first-century drag queens and London street punks.
