Now Aug 2020....I'm moved to tears. Should the Tube of You go on forever, there will be Scots and descendants of Scots who will thrill to this performance many years, nay, decades, hence. Heidi, Tania - thank you!
The performance was so deeply moving and was remarkable in it's musical drama, bringing tears to my eyes. Heidi has such a masterful interpretation, and brings out the poetry of the music, as if each section were a story, or a poetic glimpse of Scotland. The orchestra performed quite amiably. The flutes were excellent , and the harpist's performance was exceptionally beautiful. Thanks, too, for that encore of Deep River. t was a fine way to end the concert.
Heard this performed last night by the Baltimore Symphony Orch. with Markus Stenz as guest conductor and Jonathan Carney as soloist......closed my eyes and I was in the highlands.
Being a scot as well I love this interpretation and having listened and seen this performed by other artists I think this is currently one of the best.. A superb violinist who captures the mood in a passionate way. Well done and thanks for the upload which I will continue to enjoy listening to.
Thoroughly enjoyable performance. Soloist was superb and I've been a fan of Tania Miller for quite a while now, thanks to UA-cam. The orchestra was very fine - amazing considering that they are students. Thanks for the upload.
Thank you, maestra. Thank you, soloist. I didn't know this piece,Bruch is not one of my great favourites, but this light and vivid, so fresh performance, full of feeling, makes me listen. I'm looking forward to hear more of maestra Tania Miller's conducting. Would you come over to our country, to conduct our philharmonic, maestra Miller?
What a great performance! I loved the conductor too! Hopped around a couple of times just as I would have if I were conducting. First rate; we've come a long ways from Heifetz only as our only star.
It's nice to see that the conductor, the soloist, probably most or all of the first and second violins, some of the woodwinds and brass are women. And they all earned their chairs.
that was really beautiful playing, very mature and controlled, but with lots of energy, and focused on the sound. too bad she took a 3 page detour at 22:46, but she covered for it pretty well, and no one else even seemed to notice.
