    Very proud, Adeptus Mechanicus is stupidly cool.
    The Prey remake has a mechanic where if you get alien mods you get targeted by the stations defenses, which isn't fun. There aren't many games where upgrades you get change the story in any meaningful way, which is unfortunate.
    Games really need to either make urgent plots a railroad and make the sidequests postgame or don't throw a sense of urgency at me where there is none.

    8:29 no, you yourself CANNOT go cyberpsycho for lore reasons.
    It involves mechanics from the TTRPG, but it basically comes down to a concept called "Humanity". The more humanity a character has, the less risk they have of experiencing cyberpsychosis. David lasted so long without going psychotic because he was raised properly by his mom, and because he had a family to lean on (Maine's crew), giving him a massive pool of such Humanity.
    In V's case, the reason they don't go psychotic is because you have Johnny inside your head, who is effectively a new person and thus a secondary pool of Humanity to dip into (In 2077, the Relic chip containing Johnny's personality replaces the stat block that would normally represent Humanity, but you have all five other stats your character in the TTRPG would normally have).
    This is all how I understand the lore and mechanics of the world, do NOT quote me on this.
    As for your follow-up question, yes there is indeed a game series like that, called Bioshock.

    • @imthedude2351
      @imthedude2351 Рік тому +1

      You pretty much nailed it on the head, according to Mike Pondsmith
      As that's exactly how he explained why David had so much resistance and why V doesn't go cyberpsycho
      David had a major well of support and good mental reinforcement from his mother and his friends
      And V had a man who was already half cyberpsycho in their brain, basically giving them a MASSIVE cushion for any and all hits to their Humanity

    • @mickyflint
      @mickyflint Рік тому

      plus theyve sorta moved away a little from the humanity score in 2077. they replaced it with the idea that all the normal problems that make people break like ptsd, losing loved ones, and having your business stolen by another larger corp compounded with 2077s society and the strain of alll the cybernetics needed to stay on top whittle away your sanity abelling it cyberpsychosis so that people treat it as a new disease instead of seeing the underlying issues that would cut into profit margins. the earlier humanity system was too simplistic with the rule being the more artifical bits you have the less human you are which doesnt sound good when your saying it to a person who has a glass eye, pacemaker, or prosthetic limb. its kinda like how deus ex hr and deus ex md played around with the idea that people with heavier modification while stronger or smarter would end up being pushed away due to the changes to their bodies.

    There's a game called Battlestar Gallactica Deadlock, with the original plot line centered around you "trying(?)" to gain control of a map of the 12 colonies. If you follow the sense of urgency, you only have 2 or 3 fleets and you are easily overwhelmed by numbers. I usually have about 120 fleets, with every point of the map covered by multiple variants of every ship available, with my Admiral going, "we can't fight! We must run to Ragnar Anchor!"
    (me) "so the other 17 Jupiter fleets we just jumped from are garbage?"

Enjoyed it greatly and think it's a shame its almost become a meme to hate on it for some people thanks to its (admittedly very shitty) state at release, though I think just about everything Max0r said here was accurate. Devil Survivor 2 has the mechanic of all actions taking half an hour. This includes battles and talking to characters, with more scenes than the game gives you time for. This is important, because you progress your friendship with them, mostly for the rewards, and so you can recruit them when you choose an ending. So you're forced to juggle the story and interacting with the characters you like, even having the option to choose not to save some of them so the route you want to play will be easier when it comes to fighting the other factions.

    “Incorrect” review which means the games “ Themes” arent really about all the brain dead commie rehtoric but the PEOPLE. Johnny talks about it during the main quest and his specific side quests. It’s not about the “corporate colonialism” itself, it’s about the people and how after all the corporate propaganda it’s hard to find anyone over the age of 18 WITHOUT augmentations. Even if it’s JUST a kiroshi etc.

  • @blazeoftherazgrizsquadron9306

    Can you go cyberpsycho? No not really... there are mods that add that aspect in, but generally it doesn't quite work that way primarily adding buffs and debuffs. There are cyberpsychos in the game and they can present a challenge to early starting players; but honestly, they are kinda laughably weak if you know how to cheese the mechanics. The Edgerunners anime kinda overhyped them for the game making then look nearly invincible. Closest I'd say you can go Cyberpsycho in the traditional sense, is deciding that you WANT to by just getting a 4 star wanted level which will spawn in Maxtac officers and you'll hear some combat voicelines from them calling you a cyberpsycho. Unfortunately it's about as close as you can get.
    Also, he didn't mention it in the video but you the player can choose your backstory from 3 different backgrounds. Streetkid, Corpo, and Nomad. Streetkid is pretty self explanatory, you grew up on the streets and have experience with different gangs and the like. Corpo is almost the same or extremely similar to David's storyline from Edgerunners, except you're WORKING FOR Arasaka rather than attending it's academy. And Nomad is where you leave your clan to run on your own as a merc. But honestly it doesn't matter which one you choose in the end. All it does is give you some unique voice lines choices and maybe 1 or 2 special missions that tie into that backstory you chose.
