This video shows my process for going from parametric models in SketchUp to CNC manufacture, including ongoing trial and error.
This is for professional manufacture of cabinets, a subject I think is under represented on UA-cam / sketchup forums.

The workflow also relies on Vectric (Cut2D is sufficient).

Hi Ryan nice to hear from you. This type of business is complex, and as craftsmen we tend to focus on the making and other technical parts of it, but success comes from good marketing, financial management and so many other factors. We have been helped a lot by business coaching, but we still have a way to go to be truly profitable and stable as a business.

I did have a pretty good look at Fusion but concluded it was less suitable for this sort of cabinetry work

a bit off topic: what sliding door mechanism do you guys use nowadays? We tend to use the OPK sliding door mechanism from ironmongery direct, but are looking for something cheaper perhaps even better.
That looks fancy - is it like that Hettich one that allow doors to close flush then come forward and across? Hettich could be worth a try for price. Can buy via lawcris. All the sliders I’ve done recently have been the volante system from east coast fittings - bottom rolling, aluminium frame doors
Maybe tab the small bits or make a fixture for processing them.

Yes... it was a lot of fun 😁. Hoping to get on some episode on the 4th episode due for filming this year. It's so nice to just turn up and work with my hands, have fun, get paid then forget about it, it's a nice break from running a business!!

NICE!!!! Is the tooling "database" stored in Cut2D software?
There is a machining database stored as a Microsoft access file linked to the cabinetsense software system in Sketchup. This is where the rules concerning diameters, depths and positions of holes to be machined are stored. This generated the DXF files which are then imported into vectric. Then vectric has a tool database which is the actually available tools to do the cuts which then have to be mapped onto the vectors. It’s not easy to succinctly explain!
@@Alastair_Freebird I got you. I've been using ABF Plugin to design and generate the Dxf's for vectric. It works a bit different. It creates layers for all the connectors (cabineo 8, 12, Cam, etc). Then in vectric you have a premade "template" with the same layer names and the layers have all the tooling info for that specific item. You're a head of the game for sure now.
@@MrChrisBozwell yes that’s basically the same principle actually. Is the ABF Plugin the one made in Thailand or something? I had a quick look at it but couldn’t find any English support to explain it
@@Alastair_Freebird That's the one.You have to use google translate to read the website(Vietnamese to English). The Plugin is in English once installed and set tho. Their YT channel is "ABF Solutions". Funny enough, they have dutch, French, but no English videos there either. But they are easy to follow and hey it's FREE!!!
cabinetsense can make dogbone joint?
Hi, for what I use it for that has never been necessary. I am mostly generating drill holes, circular recesses and line patterns for various types of fixings, like Cabineos or Confirmat Screws. You can also use it to automate the creation of Dado joints, and in this case you can tell it to oversize the groove vs the tenon, to ensure the best fit. This is usually preferable to dog bone joints as an extended dado would usually be hidden by the thickness of the shelf (using a tenon that stops short of the ends of the shelf) whereas a dogbone corner may show. If I do something that needs dogbone corners I am adding that in vectric
