@@samfrazier5599 I kind of did because this was during another one of Agassi's lackluster phases in his career (lol...now we know it may also have been during a meth phase if rumors that he did it more than the once he described in his full of fakery bio are to be believed). Safin meanwhile was not a name yet, but some of us had already seen things like his almost win over Jim Courier in Davis cup (granted Courier was a shadow of himself at that point, but Safin's game was still clearly impressive).

Hewitt won Wimbledon in 2002, lost in the first round in 2003 to a Croatian qualifier, Federer lost in the first round at Wimbledon 2002 to a Croatian qualifier, won Wimbledon 2003.

@@smartasianfriend9940 I am sure Agassi was given a 'silent ban' due to drugs. What I am not sure was that it was 'meth' that he was taking. He highly likely took PED's, was caught and went away.

He beat Agassi and Kuerten in back to back matches at the French. Very underrated achievement considering at that time he beat a two time finalist and the 97 winner at 18. Moving forward, the guys he beat had 4 RG titles and 6 finals between them.

@Ron P ok. Jim Courier deserves to be rated higher than Marat Safin. Both these guys really only have one style. That being to outlast the opponent from the baseline. Neither can really start coming in and playing s net game to win. That seems to be what is missing. A guy like Edberg could do it all. Ability to change the strategy according to who they are playing and what's happening in the match.
