I remember watching that Graf match at the time. It became great theatre and was probably the best TV of the year. I don't think there has ever been a match like it since.
if one had to list the most memorable FO finals, steffi was in all of them: 1987: 64 46 86 vs navratilova - the begining of a new era in women's tennis. 1988: 60 60 vs zvereva - she completely destroyed her, winning after 32 minutes! 1992: 26 63 810 vs seles - even though she lost, it's a classic . 1996: 63 67 108 vs arantxa - one of the most thrilling matches i've seen, w/ arantxa serving 3 times for the championship. 1999: 46 75 62 w/o a doubt, the most memorable FO final to date!
These two people are without doubt...two of most wonderful human beings God has ever created. Their charity, their love of neighbor has no bounds. Even though I do not know them personally...I know I love them both and I thank God for giving them to us..
It really was a crazy set of finals. Agassi coming back to complete his career grand slam, the Graf/Hingis match had EVERYTHING bar a streaker and to top it off the two champs get together as a result of winning!! You can't even make that stuff up.
@mjtsmm2027 it's funny you say that a friend of mine who I've known for about 6 or 7 years brought it up in conversation one day and he's not even a tennis fan but that day he was at home just flicking through the channels and came across the Graf Hingis final and couldn't turn away from it such was the theatre and drama as you say.
These 2 women represent tennis world professionally! They are very elegant and beautiful. Look at their outfits....so beautiful and professional..versus. Serena...urgly outfit, urgly character, misconduct, verbal abuse..
