- Easy tutorial for using paddle shifters in your Audi. This example is a 2019 Audi A4 sedan. You can use the paddles anytime and go back to automatic mode by holding on the right side paddle.

My parents about to buy me an audi a3 and i was freaking out about this cuz when watching videos people would talk about the paddle shifters, and i have no idea how tf manual mode works. Glad to see its optional and not required. Thanks dude, man you saved me from several panic attacks.
Well the car does everything itself, since its an automatic. You dont really need to use that, unless you wanna have a little fun😂
Luckyy guy. My parents probally cant even buy the weels of a a3
how’s the car brother
Amazing video! Quick, informative, and to the point! I've driven a few cars with paddle shifters but I never cared to use them. Now that I have the Q5 I feel more inclined to try them out. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Have fun Lauren!

Thankyou, very helpful indeed
Is it safe to hard shift it? Like shifting only when it reaches redline?
Thanks for the info, but I have a question . I have 2021 A5 some time I my car will move at 2-5 MPH without meet on the gas an I feel the trans making a noise when I pull off for awhile could I have put it in manual ?
Yeah you could put it in first gear in manual mode and it might have less noise as it just stays in one gear
I have an integral Audi A5 of 252 HP year 2017. When I use the stronic in manual mode when upshifting it doesn't engage instantly. There is usually a delay, especially when I do it at low revs. Vehicle has 8000 miles on it, practically new. would this be normal?
Are you pushing the gas while shifting?
@@Shouldigetit2 Hi, how are you ? if indeed I am accelerating while upshifting. How I told you about the change does not do it instantly, there is a delay between putting the change and the response of the vehicle. For example, from first gear to second gear, if you accelerated it suddenly and want to switch to second gear, there is a delay in the response of the change.
Do you have the TDI version? The diesel is not super responsive
@@ExabyteAU cuz of this I said no totday. The delay kills me, i have tried multiple times to go as fast as the car can do 0 to 100 and is slow.
I cannot seem to get my head around step 12. Can you make a more detailed video? Also, how did you get into the car?
What?
Which engine?
Are you in Oregon? That looks like Warm Springs
Big Sur, California actually! Thanks for watching
How do you know when to downshift? I tried in my s3 and it starts to ROAR and go all the way into the red line. What am I doing wrong
You down shift when you want more torque to speed up quickly. Watch some videos on how to shift in manual transmission or "how gears work in a car" to understand when to downshift.
Is there a way to go to neutral using the paddle shifters?
Only in certain cars. For instance on the Porsche GT3 you can press both paddles at the same time of neutral.
@@Shouldigetit2 sad that this doesn't work in the Audi s5.
Thanks for the video!
You're very welcome, thanks for watching! Sorry I just saw your response

Do you know whats the difference between gear D & S?
S = sports mode
Tim is correct, S is sport transmission mode. Shifts at higher RPM
do you hold the brakes when downshifting or accelerator how
no you dont
To fast I need someone to slowly walk me through it
It’s pretty simple if you know how to drive a manual
Does this really warrant a video? Baffling to think that people don’t understand how paddles work
According to the thousands of people who have watched it, yes..
How come you clicked on the video?
-Ben
@@Shouldigetit2 sorry this wasn’t intended as an attack on your video - it’s very informative. I’m just very surprised people can’t figure it out themselves!
Pay more attention near that water with the road being so close to the edge. Next time pick a straight safer road to demonstrate on.
Ok.
Thank You !
You're welcome!
