"I saw this in a movie about a bus that has to SPEED around the city, keeping its SPEED over 50, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode. I think it was called... The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down" -- Homer Simpson
I saw this other movie where at the end there's three fourth graders taking over a bus because the driver got knocked out and they had to get it back to the city
What a perfect action movie. Exciting, funny, so smartly written. Hasn't aged at all. Stands alongside Die Hard as the very best in popcorn entertainment.
The sad thing about this movie is they have such great chemistry and are really good together but have never been in a relationship with each other. However they remain really good friends
11:29 - I'm an LA native, I remember this. I believe the 105 freeway was actually not in use yet, it was still being built, or was just recently built, or something like that. So that part of it was accurate. I think they filmed it before it was opened to the public (easier than having to shut it down after the fact).
I remember seeing this in a packed cinema when it came out, and the atmosphere was absolutely ELECTRIC. I had not experienced anything like that since TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY.
this movie is so freaking amazing. i will never forget seeing in the theater with a big group of friends, the whole cinema cheering and whistling and screaming. incredible experience.
This is the movie that started my one sided love affair with keanu reeves. Also, the scene when jack is under the bus and the passengers all ban together to help him shows the good of humanity and how we can all be together and lift each other up without being forced or mandated. I love this movie. It is literally one of my favorites. It came out before i turned 10 and i wasn’t allowed to watch the opening scene but from then on, i was good to go!
That banding together is a big part of why I love this film and what I feel is missing in most modern day films. This generation focuses so much on division and our differences instead of what we have in common...as you said, our humanity.
What's crazy was Keanu Reeves did 90% of his stunts. Including the jump from car to bus. Loved this movie! I still love this movie! Loved it as a kid, still love it as an adult!
oh! if it’s not already on your list, “twister” is another movie by the same director as this one, jan de bont. it’s got a lot of the same feel - fantastic action sequences, humor in the right places, and a great cast of really fun characters.
Fun fact: I was so obsessed with Keanu Reeves after this movie I went to see his band Dogstar perform. Why they came to Atlanta, I have no idea. The sarcastic guy in the elevator was in the band with him.
90’s movies remain unmatched in their abilities to just provide simple, fun action based movies! This was such a big deal when it came out! I still remember Jeez Keanu was Smokin hot in this movie, haha. I had forgot. What fun this movie is though
Well, I dunno. The 80's had some great action movies, as well as movies in general. So, "unmatched" might be overstating it just a little. But yeah, great movies in the 90's. Love them.

They didn't set up the bus jump scene well. It was probably hard enough to find a free way under construction to get that footage, so I guess they couldn't contrive some kind of ramp. The footage of the jump itself was pretty epic, they legit drove a bus at full speed off a ramp and ended up with that. It didn't fly 50ft, since the front got kicked up hard and lost a lot of forward momentum, but it flew pretty good. If you can find the behind the scenes of that shot, it's pretty intense seeing the actual bus pull it off.

The plane the bus ran into and blew up was being towed so there was no crew on board and you can see the tow driver get out so no one was killed there.
With this movie and with FACE OFF (1997) it is clear that Nolan was not the first to destroy a real plane while filming a movie. In the 90s it was very common to film scenes with real elements, it is very strange at the time with practical effects, today CGI is abused a lot, where everything looks very fake.

Killed off Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber), killed but 'unkilled' Alan Rucker (Ferris Beullers Day Off)...because they worried of fans backlash so Alan Rucker survived the jump off the bus in a different take. Sandra's I guess easy breezy look was super hot here than in any other flick!
You should watch Swordfish!!!!
If you enjoyed watching Dennis Hopper as a villain character then I recommend you to watch _"Blue Velvet" (1986)_
Fun fact, this situation happened in real life too.
You should check out the movie "The Net" with sandra Bullock, really good too
Also I love her comedic timing in Love Potion #5
She's just so lovable. Miss Congeniality.
If you want more 90s action thrillers, check out Under Siege, The Fugitive and Hard Target
Great react. I saw this super young the baby sitter let me watch everything except the really gory in comparison part in the very beginning and i appreciated that i knew whatever i had miss would be seen eventually. But since most of it is not very gory i got to watch the sht outta this lol
Ooo i just saw another comment i agree with. Do Point Break!
The plane the bus ran into and blew up was being towed so there was no crew on board and you can see the tow driver get out so no one was killed there.
But the price of the plane ✈ was worth more than a few lives.😡
@@ckobo84 What is the exchange rate of dollars to lives?
The gold watch is important
With this movie and with FACE OFF (1997) it is clear that Nolan was not the first to destroy a real plane while filming a movie. In the 90s it was very common to film scenes with real elements, it is very strange at the time with practical effects, today CGI is abused a lot, where everything looks very fake.
Have you seen True Lies yet???? It's one of my all time favorite cheesy action comedy thrillers of the 90s!
I havent seen it but i just wrote it down to check it out
the 'girl' is Sandra Bullock dude!
Do one on “TWISTER”!
21:00 there are no people in there cause the doors are took off
11:51 -- as a transit-like bus driver I REALLY wish they'd go back to that kind of turn signal switch rather than this push on the floor and hold bullshit
Or better yet do like it is in cars
lol, this movie is so ridiculous but it's so good! haha
