Alright so yesterday we had the big MK1 patch(and vid for that in the vid description if you missed it) and lots of big things went down, but of course we also have an all-new character in Ermac! So lets talk about him why not, and also his frankly kinda crazy dash cancel pressure and easy to set up inescapable 50/50? You think someone who looks like he's basically the master of the undead would be more of a zoner or keep away character but no, Ermac is coming to run you over lol. Maybe ermac starter guide on the weekend if I can overcome my insomnia issues. Getting better a bit I actually slept a few hours today. Although honestly even a bit wary on big guides for a bit after the Eddy guide kinda crashed and burned, algorithm didn't favour me there :( The stress of that video massively underperforming after so much time put into it didn't exactly help the lack of sleep issues but thats life I guess lol. Enchantress from Injustice 2 had the exact move Ermac does that depletes meter when taking damage. Not a new concept by NRS but I'm happy we're getting not 1 but 2 mechanics from Injustice 1 and 2 back. I'm hoping for Injustice 3 in the future... 🤞
Ermac's move animations are the very best in a game that already across the board had pretty amazing move animations.

it’s crazy cool how Ermac’s moves have the same hit reactions as a lot of his MKX moves, except that we see the conjured spirit actually doing the move. for example, the lift that holds people upside down, we actually see the spectral witch thing holding them up. shits wild yo!

I just wish all characters were designed this way, Johnny and Kenshi in the early MK1 showings really gave me the vibe we were getting crazy fun characters but damn was I wrong

Ermac is an MKX character. His pressure, cancels, combo routes are ridiculous. I’m still trying to find the right Kameo for him. Currently running frost and using her ice orb setup but I think there’s something better, just don’t know what yet.

Cyrax is super fun with him. Janet is probly the best, and Khameleon is also really good.
Not going to lie while Ermac is flashy with the combos and pressure cancel shenanigans I miss him being a zoner and space check character. If Noob returns hopefully he'll be zoney. He's definitely the highest execution in this game he's ever been out of any MK game. I hope Ermac gets at least a fireball.
The character is sick ,, if you backdash to punish a counterpoke it wont work ,, but it will work if you input his cancel first , really advanced shenanigans

Stand 3 dash cancel is supposedly plus! I couldn't quite make it work in practice but that's amazing if you can get stagger plus frames from it naturally. I know on ex it's basically always plus.
It's very fun, even if I don't end up playing him, to have these little mechanical challenges. I love seeing if I can execute things like this.

i just wish that the main cast would've been that engaging. Seeing all those crazy and gameplay wise fun DLC characters really makes me wonder why the base roster even exists. Much less many MANY of the Kameos... Looking at you Motaro.

Im lost on the frame data of the 50/50. When i was getting slow-mo footage of the 50/50 for my own Ermac video, i was going to sync up clips of the low and OH to show them hitting at the same time but I cant seem to get the J1 to hit any sooner than 20 frames after the F4 and I have no clue why, since the frame data suggests they should both hit on frame 18 after the F4. Is there some cancel buffer that accounts for the 3 extra frames or something?? What am I missing lmao

well its all there in the patch notes, but im sure there's a compilation up on twitter or something. To be frank for the purposes of the channel it wouldnt do well for me to make an all shujinko new moves vid. looking back though in the patch preview I shoulda just took some more time and did it there, my bad

The DLC characters are noticeably much higher quality than the launch roster. More time and care was put into making them unique. Really sad.

just dash and jump 1, it will take a minute to get the timing down but it really isnt that bad

ehh his damage isn't bad, 35% solo, hitting 40~ with a kameo
You can get pretty good damage with optimum routing, considering the pressure ermac puts on opponents. There are plenty of combo videos on YT already and I'm already hitting more than 40% for one bar with scorpion/Janet cage. The only issue is that you've got to be really on point with your cancels and hit confirms.
I CANT FORWARD 4 (knee) into levitate cancel!!!😔 He just teleports after the forward 4
I suggest checking your settings for release check or whatever they call negative edge and turn that off. Its giving you the wrong move

The 50 / 50 is strong but its a high starter and both options r very unsafe the overhead is less unsafe but if upblock exists ... i don't think he should be a 50/50 u really need to use him at mid range and use his back forward 1 cancel

I’m a Marisa player in sf6 and the negative pressure thing feels very similar to what she can do with her target combos and gladius. So if you have dealt with button-button-gladius it’s similar to that where it’s all negative and there are gaps, but the gaps are frame traps, and I can either let the gladius go immediately, react to armoring a move with it, do a random delay, or full charge. The full charge doesn’t crumple but honestly it might as well with how much damage it does lol, and all versions give oki and big corner carry.
If you block the uncharged version it is minus, but the full charge version is plus. If you know I’m going for the full charge you can easily time a counter hit once the armor goes away, go for a fast low, or jump out. However if I went for a partial charge or uncharged you might get counter hit out of that or armored if it wasn’t a low or I did Ex and then get hit by full charge.
Still wondering who the closest to ermac’s playstyle in mk1 is in tekken 8…preciate any response
well its hard to compare directly cause 2d and 3d fighters are very different but uh in essence I guess... eddy? easy mix and pressure

Let's be honest. This character is pure gimmicks. Just block high and he can't touch you unless they spend all their bars
Also full of highs. Soooo many places where you can just low poke to beat everything he's doing. Also very susceptible to zoning because of his poor full screen options.

Until you get so used to blocking high and get hit by his db3 into a kombo. After that when you are more uneasy, those highs will be more scary
I don't play MK1, so the impression I have is totally out of the context of the game. But out of that context he seems insane.

I hope Ermac makes them rethink their whole idea about the game and we will see significant changes to the base roster. Ermac feels great but one fun character is not good enough when everyone could be like this
